  1. talk about flukey wins. The Red Sox walk about 19 batters in the 9th to hand you guys a victory
  2. Ben Revere called up for AA New Britian, Matt Fox DFAed
  3. QUOTE (scenario @ Sep 3, 2010 -> 02:31 PM) Morneau transferred to the 60-day DL to make room for Matt Fox, a AAA pitcher called up to start against the Rangers. he has been on the 15 day DL for 55 days and he is not going to play in the next 5, so its just an accounting thing
  4. I think its universal among baseball fans: Joe West sucks that whole umpiring crew sucked all series. I think there were 6 blown calls (for both teams total) at second base alone. The strike zone folded in and out like an accordion. That said, the Twins defense sucked and has not been very good for most of the season (even though fielding % says the Twins are good. if you just watch of listen to a series, you'll understand) injuries are really putting and cramp on things. Kubel is getting a second MRI on his hand/wrist because it has not been healing. and the FO really screwed things up by not adding pitchers when rosters expanded (although Rochester has been playing 3 men down with pitchers being shut down for the season because of innings limits and injuries and just plain old crappy pitching) that said, sound like Hudson is coming back tonight. Sound like Fuentes should be ready to go. Slowey is eligible to come off the DL Sunday. Its not a lost cause yet. But man, the injury to Justin Morneau is really starting to show up in the boxscores because Cuddy is terrible at 1st and there is no power in the lineup (3 HR in the last 10 games, none since Sunday) will the hurricane affect your series in Boston?
  5. Twins tv announcers said Sunday that Thome said that he should be good to go on Tuesday
  6. My prections: AL Manager: Ron Gardenhire will finish second for the 3rd straight year (in his 8 years as manager, he has been the MOY runner up 5 times and 1 third place)
  7. pitching and defense or so I have been told about a billion times a year
  8. Jon Rauch was booed when he took the mound in the 8th, then Gardy came out to get him after he gave up 2 doubles and was booed even louder. After the game Gardy said he would of booed himself if he was in the stands, but since Slowey had an elbow issue that forced him to miss a start, 106 pitches was enough. Slowey had 3 walks and a HBP, a walk and the HBP in the 7th and the last couple of innings you could tell he was running out of fumes. I love complete games and no hitters, but it was the right move
  9. he is a lot better than the corpses they have dragged out in recent year...Mike Lamb, Tony Batista, Brian Buscher
  10. Perkins ERA is high in AAA, but it was over 10 for a good chunk of the early season. He has pitched better over the past month or so.
  11. so the Rays scored 6 in the 8th (bartlett grand slam) then the Rays got Domed in the 9th when Kubel hit the "A" ring and the ball landed back in fair territory and a run scored instead of the 3rd out of the inning
  12. actually it was an allergic reaction, and it caused blisters on his fingers (how 'Helter Skelter'-ish!)
  13. Rauch was back at the hotel because he developed rashes after taking a medication, or something along those lines
  14. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 02:01 AM) Well, hard to judge without Morneau in there. true, but the Twins still offer a pretty good lineup without him Because they play in the East, I sometimes forget about the Rays and how good of a team that is. They can run, field, hit, slug, and the starting pitchers are outstanding. I hope they get their stadium situation taken care of. They are playing awesome baseball, took over 1st place, playing a decent team in the Twins, and only 17,000+ people show up to the game last night
  15. the next 2 games are pretty much must wins for the Twins...just to show themselves that they can win a couple games against the elite teams
  16. Jose Valverde threw 60 (!!!!) pitches, 28 strikes, to nail down the win for the Tigers tonight
  17. I havent heard much about Hudson since he went on the DL. It was kind of a freak thing where he swung and then grasped his side. When he has been in the lineup, hes been good, and defense seems to be as advertised
  18. wow, for some reason I thought the Sox played the O's during that month were you won 40 games Punto just left the game, sound like a pulled hamstring
  19. you guys got to beat up on the Os and weaker NL teams earlier in the year. Things are evening out now, and it shows the Sox and Twins are pretty much even teams recordwise
  20. in the last 4 games, the Twins have scored 46 runs and have had 72 hits Danny Valencia is 14-19 (.739) in his last 4 games
  21. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 10:57 AM) Are you in the Valencia camp or not? Seems like Gardenhire won't play him regularly, just like Guillen consistently playing Kotsay over Viciedo. So I guess Mark Kostay=Lil Nick Punto for White Sox fans this season. While I dont think he is going to be a power threat, he take good at bats and is a better offensive threat than Punto. He looks competent in the field, so I say play him as much as possible. Back to the Tigers, with Maggs and Guillen both hurt now, its just not looking good for them. Do they even have enough depth to trade for some help this year?
  22. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 09:56 PM) For whatever reason, they've gotten through to Pavano. From one of biggest jokes and worst contracts in baseball to probably their co-#1 starter along with Liriano. As much as their fanbase has been on SLOW-BAKE-BURN this season (along with Rick Anderson and GM Smith for their contracts), Pavano and Liriano have certainly been somewhat unexpected success stories which have somewhat mitigated the drop off from Kubel, Cuddyer, Morneau and Mauer. Of course, having Nathan go down early didn't help matters either, they still have some shakiness in their middle relief corps. that is pretty good analysis of the Twins. The only thing you left out is the Delmon Young (!) is pretty much carried the team since Morneau went down
  23. Delmon Young still cant take a walk, but he is batting .314 and has 67 RBI on the year. Batting something like .400 in 'clutch' situations
  24. the Target Field scorers are horrible. Why do you think the Twins had so few errors until they had an extended road trip
  25. Morneau supposedly had 2 concussions playing hockey, and he suffered another concussion a few years ago when he was drilled in the head with a pitch in Seattle == I remember a time when a lot of you Sox fans were jumping ship from your team and when to watch the hockey playoffs. Baseball's a funny game
