  1. I applaud the effort the Sox gave today. I thought the 8th inning was going to be one of those inning where Verlander implodes and gives up 9 runs because Jim Leyland leaves him in for 125 pitches
  2. the Twins were 7 back on Sept 7, 5.5 back Sep 14, 3 games back Sep 30 amazing run for a team that flirted 2 games either side of .500 for 90% of the season
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 3, 2009 -> 09:29 PM) You owe us a piece of the dome just for making Sunday's game matter.
  4. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 30, 2009 -> 01:49 AM) It shows you ever moreso how important games are earlier in the season. Come this time you really needed all the wins you could get earlier. I agree 100%. There are a few games that got away from the Twins that should be chalked up in the Win column. the one that sticks out is the one where Joe Nathan served up 2 HR's to Sox players at the Dome
  5. A sweep would of been fantastic, but winning 3 of 4 is now a must for the Twins did anyone catch the first game? Gardy ordered something like 5 sacrifice bunts including a squeeze in the 9th. I think Gardy is a fine manager (not the best, not the worst) but in this playoff-type situations, or in the playoff themselves he totally deviates from what he/the team did in the regular season. Yeah, the Twins sac people over and what not, but not to that extreme
  6. Denard Span is quietly having a good offensive season. he makes the Web Gems often, but I don't know if he is known for his bat. Maybe Sox fan would, but outside the AL Central...I dont know before Sunday's game his splits were: .308 /.391 /.418 /.809 OPS+ of 120. And Sunday's game he went 2/3 with 2 walk, so that will go up. Top 10 in OB%, near the Top 10 in BA. Pretty good season for a guy who many fans gave up on while he was in the minors
  7. I missed that! Did an outfielder fall down? Because thats what happened in Redmond's case. The ball was a liner to center field, but the outfielders were shifted hard to the right. The LF came in with the ball rolling, and he slid to try to stop it but completely missed the ball and it rolled all the way to the fence
  8. you know the Baseball Gods are smiling down on your team today when Mike Redmond hits a triple http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/boxscore?gid=290830109
  9. start printing the World Series tix! I like the Rauch move, Mahay not so much
  10. I haven't looked what O Cab's numbers are since he has joined the Twins, but he hasn't seemed like a defensive liability out there. Not Gold Glove worthy, but not horrible. But what has killed the Twins is the utter lack of starting pitching. Liriano is probably going on the DL. Nick Blackburn regressed to the mean (he's pretty much done a U-turn since the ASB). Baker has been hit and miss. The last 3 games, the starters have gone 4, 2.1, and 2 innings. yuck. Its a shame because Joe Mauer's bat is super hot ('video game hot' I call it) in the month of August.
  11. Morneau is a capable 1b man, but thats about his ceiling. He is no gold glover
  12. Punto is in the lineup because of his defense and his overall scrappiness. One thing he does well on offense is take a walk. 36 of them this year (for a ridiculous line of .208/.318/.250/.568)
  13. Apparently, when teh Twins were in Oakland the other week, Morneau and Mauer were chatting it up with O-Cab, saying they want him on the Twins...fwiw Im pretty 'meh' on the deal. his numbers are a duplicate of Brendan Harris
  14. I think this 100% rumor. For 2 years now, the Twins have been pushing hard for people to buy tickets for the new stadium, there would be considerable backlash if someone showed up to a game and a sign at the door says 'Go to Metrodome'. First of all..is it a real Bobby Wade twitter account? and I think whoever it is, is just stirring the pot of Chicago fans
  15. Juan Uribe still killing the Twins! It was last year against the Sox when Uribe lined one off Slowey, and it never really recovered I guess
  16. how crazy has Garrett Jones been for the Pirates? 9 homers in 18 games .338 /.397 /.831 /1.228 split line (small sample size applies). The guy had a cup of coffee with the Twins last year and didnt really do anything, although he had good power numbers in Rochester (something like 3 20+ homer seasons, the first player to do that since Don Baylor)
  17. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Jul 24, 2009 -> 12:54 AM) minny fans must be depressed this week depressed is not the word Im more angry than anything maybe its because these west coast games are killing my sleep! the Twins have something like 3 of the Top 10 offense players in the league right now (Mauer, Morneau, and Kubel), and they are a .500 club. That sucks!
  18. just want tip put my 'tip of the cap' to Buerhle for todays performance. thats pretty awesome. Perfect game, another no hitter, World Series ring, and if he ends his career at 275 wins, he is a HoF'er (although thats probably a ways to go since he never gets injured)
  19. if Matt Holliday played for the ChiSox, he is guaranteed 10 homers a year against Twins pitching. That would make up for any missing left handed power
  20. embarrassing. I can see a one time deal, it happens in baseball. But to allow 30+ runs to the worst hitting team in the AL (majors?) is not acceptable
  21. not really. Blackburn had nothing from the first inning on. something like 11-12 hits in 5 innings of work. It was just going to be 'one of those games'
  22. I gotta admit, this game kinda sucks
  23. QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 05:24 PM) I feel offended that you don't hate the Sox. sorry I have offended you! nah, I dont hate the Sox. I have respect for your team and fans.
