  1. Francisco Liriano pitched last night against Toledo (From what I understand, one of the better hitting International League teams) 7IP, 0R, 2H, 2BB, 10K 99 pitches, 61 strikes I think he needs more seasoning down there
  2. you know, for as much love the Twins get for plugging along and keep on winning, the White Sox gets NO love. I dont understand why. If you listened to ESPN, the Twins are 15 games up on first place and the Tigers are right there ready for a strong second half. Yet, the Tigers are sort of buried right now and the Twins are running in place with the Sox. (how many days has it been has it been the the Twins have been 3 games or less behind the Sox? I looked it up, its been the last 22 games dating back to June 21) anyway, I should post this in the Sox forum, but whatever. Your team gets a tip of the hat from me now go on a losing streak!
  3. QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 17, 2008 -> 05:36 PM) I like what they did today where you can choose which feed to watch for 3 of the 4 games. I'm sure this is a one day thing since there will obviously be more games starting tomorrow. yeah, that was sweet
  4. Liriano pitched tonight for Rochester 8IP, 7H, 1 ER, 8K
  5. there was an article in the St. Paul Pioneer Press yesterday that had the Assistant General Manager say basically the Twins have to make room for Liriano because he had done all he can in Rochester http://www.twincities.com/twins/ci_9899665?nclick_check=1
  6. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jul 15, 2008 -> 02:31 PM) awesome, I love it. I'm always right at the edge of ordering it, but never do... one of these seasons I will its totally worth it I have had it for 2 years now. Its great for when your team has the day off. And if you are a night owl, West Coast games. The thing that stinks is Saturday day games are not carried because of FOX
  7. thought you should know http://www.startribune.com/sports/twins/25...?page=1&c=y
  8. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 12, 2008 -> 09:07 PM) I also don't think Detroit is a real threat at this point. Their pitching is just going to be far too inconsistent and they've found out how old their offense actually is this season. They'll be a team you don't want to face down the stretch, but I see them at or around .500 at the end of the season, and it's probably going to take 90-94 wins to take the Central. I can agree with that Also something that is hurting Detroit is their defense. except for Polonco, it seems like no one in the infield or outfield is a really good defender this year.
  9. Juan 'steriods' Rincon pitched in the game, so he is back in the bigs ready to get slaughtered by hit after hit
  10. it was a bad play by the outfielder (Joyce I think it was) that led to the win for the Twins although Justin Morneau had a monster game. 5-5 and a walk and the GW HR. He is flat out raking the last two weeks
  11. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 9, 2008 -> 04:52 PM) Jim, If not now then when? Because 13 scoreless innings with 16 k's sounds pretty good, not to mention winning 6 straight decisions. oh, I know. Im just saying what the Twins are saying. He was pretty up and down until about a week and a half ago. I also dont expect him up soon because there is a bit of a log jam at the started pitching position
  12. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 9, 2008 -> 03:11 PM) Well at least you know the Twins will get a lot of help at the trade deadline.....oh wait, they never do. Sorry. I had to. but you are right on the money. I saw a rumor in teh paper today that the Twins have had 'internal discussions' (whatever that means) about Adrian Beltre. That would be great As for Liriano. The Twins have gone on record saying he needs to have consistant good outings in Rochester before he gets considered to be called back up. Im not pinning my hopes for a Liriano return this year
  13. the Twins bullpen had an absolute meltdown in the 8th inning its been a while for one of those
  14. Upton's shot made me go 'wow!' he absolutly crushed that ball
  15. when is Fielder arb. eligible? that might cost the Brewers a few sacks of cash
  16. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 6, 2008 -> 05:29 AM) If only teams could regularly hit .310+ with runners in scoring position. Don't get me wrong, it's a talented offense, but it's a down year in the AL and they, honestly, have been lucky as f***. I imagine even benchjim would tell you that. They have a shot to compete with Liriano potentially coming up at some point and by acquiring a bat, but I don't think they have a chance at being the best team in the division with the roster they currently have. oh yeah, some of it has got to be luck when the team is blistering the ball when runners are in scoring position. Last night, the Kevin Slowey gave up a 5 spot to the Tribe in the second inning (he had gone 18 innings before that without giving up a run, and that is also part of the Twins success. Great starting pitching). I sat there a bit dissappointed because Slowey had been pitching so well for so long. But after the inning was over I was not worried, because the Twins have just been scoring runs after runs and a 3 run decifit is nothing of late. Sure enough, chipped in a run in the 4th, 1 in the 5th. Chased the starter out of the game and scored 5 in the 6th. Thats just the way its been going of late. (the Twins have batted 16 innings against the Tribe this series, and have scored in 10 of them) Part of it is that Mauer and Morneau are have really good seasons. Morneau's power numbers are down a bit, but he is second in the AL in the RBI category. But its also younger players doing well. Kubell is tied with Morneau in HR's. Delmon Young is on a super hot streak, all those young players from AAA just plug right in and hit the ball. (and thats the crazy part) But also the pitching has been outstanding. But you know what, the Sox keep plugging along too. Sure the Twins made up a 6 or 7 game defecit, but its get of frustrating that my team keeps winning and cant take over that first place spot in the division! But its also exciting because every game matters. I watched the end of the last two Sox/Indians games and just get amazed at what the Sox do. They are so confident right now (they remind me of the Twins in that matter. Watch a few innings and the confidence of the players just oozes out of the TV screen) that when the team gets down a few runs it doesnt matter, they know they can come back and win it. the 08 Sox remind me of your World Series winning team This should be an exciting second half!
  17. Nathan just signed an extension in Spring Training. he is not going anywhere for a long time
  18. Rox win. Hanley Ramirez blew a double play oppertunity in the 9th 18-17 final. Only in Coors Field
  19. What do the Tribe have to trade (Besides CC) Casey Blake could probably help a club. Jamey Carroll could be useful...anything else?
  20. Dear White Sox please start losing thanks Benchwarmerjim === that said, boy the Indians are a dissapointment. And the Tigers stink on defense. From LaVelles blog at the Minny STrib tonight linkage. Heh, interesting.
  21. Jones has pitched 3 games in a row..or something like that
  22. the Tigers have made 3 errors in 3 innings
