Jeff Cirillo goes from the Twins to the D-Backs ona waiver claim Ryan says no time to swing a trade because they needed the roster spot for Cuddyer as he comes off the DL

QUOTE(29andPoplar @ Jul 30, 2007 -> 09:10 PM) I would guess Ryan is under a bit more heat than Williams at the moment. you dont say. I was pretty dissapointed at this trade, and the Twins trading in gerenal. We need a bat, and all we get is a AAA player called up to take the place of Punto at 3B (for me, it goes back to the free agent period last season, where the only moves was to bring RonDL back and sign jeff Cirillo) you can read some of the thought of Twins fans here http://www.startribune.com/blogs/christensen/?p=279#comments

Hunter Ponders Future With Sox
Benchwarmerjim replied to Chisox_fan's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
Torii has been saying 'I want to play for _____ next year' all this season He is just trying to drive up the market for him. He was quoted last week that playing for the Yankees would be nice needless to say many Twins fans were not happy with that -
Curtis Granderson's assault on a 93 year old AL record
Benchwarmerjim replied to whitesoxfan101's topic in The Diamond Club
Cristian Guzman had 20 triples for the Twins back in 2000. It was fun to watch every at bat of his back then, because you never knew and some gapper would turn an ordinary double into a triple. -
Why Does the Casual Baseball Fan LOVE the Cubbies?
Benchwarmerjim replied to SouthSidePride05's topic in The Diamond Club
when I was younger, I liked the Cubbies why? because there was a baseball games on in the afternoon on WGN then I grew up and found out Cubs fans are pretty annoying -
The Angles had 10 hits off Royals starter De La Rosa, yet managed 0 runs they lost 1-0, and got swept by the Royals yikes

Twins pitchers struck out the Blue Jays 15 times tonight (Strater Scott Baker with 9) but it took 12 innings. Twins eventually won 2-1 I was impressed with Scott Marcum. The Blue Jays seem to have a bunch of young pitchers that could have a future in the big leagues
-
Carlos Silva of all people threw a shutout against the Braves I didnt think the Braves were this bad of a team. Twins pitching have pretty much dominated them this series
-
a collection of soft tossers? or awesome prospects? The Sox should trade Jermaine Dye if they are way out of it. I bet he could fetch a decent return
-
former White Sox great Willie Harris was 3-4 for the Braves tonight, but the Twins won. Slowey pitched good again and got his second victory of the year
-
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 9, 2007 -> 09:09 PM) The more I read about Paul Molitor the more I like him. Im going back a few days on this quote, but what does this mean? Molitor, right now, is a roving minor league instructor for the Twins

Jesse Crain was selected in the 2nd round of that draft

QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Jun 1, 2007 -> 10:42 PM) I find it interesting that the Twins promoted Baker and Slowey over Garza, but Garza and Baker are very similar pitchers, so that might have been part of their thinking. Terry Ryan said that Slowey did not have enough AAA innings under his belt (first year there), and Baker was pitching pretty darned good this year in Roch. Garza, its said, need to work on his off speed pitches and that is why he is in AAA. Slowey's pitch count was high tonight because Oakland has hit something like 25 foul balls

I dont know if any of the Chicago papers had anything after the game, but one of the StarTribune guys jotted down Ozzie's remarks http://www.startribune.com/blogs/christensen/?p=192 I read in the other section where Sox fans hate Metrodome, hey Twins fans do too! But you guys are going to play in Toronto, where balls hit in front of the plate bunce just as high there as they do at the Dome. I dont want to sound like Im rubbing salt in the wounds or anything, but best of luck with Halladay and Burnett

some nights on Baseball Tonight, they dont even show all the teams that played. I have noticed it's usually Tampa Bay and Kansas City and whoever they are playing gets cut out of the show (even if it is an hour long) in favor of some of thier crap 'analysis' like 3 Up/3 Down Grated, Tampa and KC dont deserve a lot of coverage, but they have some good players on the team and it would be nice to see their highlights

The Twins set a new team record by striking out Rangers batters 18 times. The old record was 17

Johan Santana is on some kind of strikeout tear right now tonight, 13 K's in 7 innings Last game was 11 in 7

Rumor out of Minnesota about Torii Hunter
Benchwarmerjim replied to caulfield12's topic in The Diamond Club
But, do the Sox have anything to offer in return? -
I heard on the local sports station that the he/his agent contacted the Twins to see if they want his services and the Twins would get back to him on that
-
Boof had 11 k's Torii had a grand slam Twins beat Brew Crew

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 16, 2007 -> 11:19 PM) The Legend Jack Cust just hit a solo HR over the center field wall to break a 2-2 tie with Kansas City in the bottom of the 8th and put Joe Blanton in position to move to 5-1. Amazing. EDIT: Oakland blew it in the 9th and lost 4-3, but Cust is still the man. Also, Kip Wells is now 1-8 with a 6.75 ERA. Look out Mike Maroth, 21 losses might have company soon (or if nothing else, Kip's personal career high of 18 losses set in 2005 is in jeopardy). What was crazy about Kip Wells is that he threw 125 pitches in 5 innings of work
-
well, if they wouldnt start a game at 10:15 eastern time like they did last night, one wouldnt have to put Julio Franco at 3B the next day
-
It is painful to follow the Twins these days Santana had 11k's and gave up four hits Only 2 of those hits were HR and thats all the opponets need these days to defeat this punchless club
-
the Twins need 2 bats just to stay competitive another lousy night until the 8th inning
