I really do not like Marcus Thames I think the Tigers just hit Liriano well *edit* The Twins pitching coach was on the radio and said they pulled Liriano because he felt a little sore in his arm, in a different spot than before

Garza could be solution to 5th spot in rotation...

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 05:04 AM) Don't forget Glen Perkins as well. The Twins just scare the hell out of me for the next 5 to 10 years, more than Detroit, and that's saying something in itself when the Tiggies could have a future rotation with Bonderman, Verlander and Andrew Miller as permanent fixtures. IIRC Baker has been mishandled quite a bit by Gardy this season. Like to get benchwarmerjim's thoughts on this. At the begining of the year, he was the Twins most consistant pitcher, but his defense was horrible behind him (Batista at 3rd, Castro at short, rotating RF) and had longer inning than he should of. Then he got sent down, then brought back up and stuck at the 5th spot in the rotation, which meant he'd pitch every 10th day (there was something up with the schedule) then he didnt do very good. Hes been jerked around this year. I think he'll probably spend the rest of the year in Rochester and come back up next year with a fresh start. From what I understand of such things, his ERA numbers are not that good, but his strikeout ratio and secondary numbers suggest he can be a decent pitcher As for Garza, Terry Ryan has been quoted in the last weeks about not rushing Garza up, but I guess this 5th spot in the rotation is too much of a glaring hole not to give him a chance You could also see Matt Guerrier pitch in that spot. I guess Garza starting is not a concrete thing -

Justin Morneau was 2-2 with FOUR walks tonight. his hits were doubles, and had 3 RBI the man has been a monster since the 1st of June -

3 walks in one inning will kill ya Twins with a 3 spot in the 10th -

Mark Redman was going to get the win after throwing 50 stikes in 101 pitches..but his closer wouldnt let that happen and Johan Santana gets off the hook for a loss. he had one bad inning -

according to the Twins bullpen coach, who was on the radio post game show, its a muscle thing that needs to be worked out, so they are going to rest him a start and get it worked out -

if you want a scouting report on the next Twins stud pitcher, check out Aaron Gleemans blog post today Matt Garza -
I am a bit dissapointed the Twins didnt get him. It sounded like the Twins were offering a couple pitching prospects, but it looks like the Brewers wanted major league talent
-
I didnt think he would go there http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/base...e.ap/index.html

Carlos Zambrano hit ANOTHER homerun tonight he has got 4 on the year he should be the Cubs DH in interleague play
-
Radke said last year that he was going to retire after this year. Hes had shoulder problems the last few year and is gutting it out now
-
last year he gave up a ton of hits, but he also induced the most double plays becuase his sinker actually sank] this year his sinker is flat and has become a flyball pitcher. not good for a sinkerballer
-
part of the problem is that he is walking more people. Last year in 64.1 innings, he issued 24 walks, this year in 39.1 innings he has issued 25 walks and remember the old mantra walks will haunt

QUOTE(Felix @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 08:09 PM) Wasn't he on Texas too? I might be wrong though. IIRC, Tyner is a good small ball guy with a good amount of speed and bunting ability. That being said, I could be confusing him with someone else. I dont know about being on Texas, but that pretty much descibes him He was left off the opening day roster and had a chance to sign elsewhere this spring, but took an assingment for Rochester. IIRC, he made the AAA All Star team and was called up right after that when all the Twins outfeild went down He was up last year as a Sept call up, slapped the ball around and made quite a few fans with his hustle I dont know if he is an everyday player, but hes been getting some clutch slap hits in the short time he has been up Tonights game against the Tribe was fugly. The home ump was inconistent, in fact Fatboy sabathia got ejected for yelling at the ump . But it didnt matter because Wedge already gave him the hook The Twins may have won, but Carlos Silva still remains very hittable and probably should not be in the rotation. He started, the offense gave him 9 runs and didnt make it to the 5th

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 08:00 PM) If he slides past the AL teams, you know the Pads would love to get him. indeed the Padres also DFA'ed Vinny Castilla either this morning or yesterday

I am glad Big Bob has been pretty much lights out against the Twins the last few years
-
well, Koskie was offered to the Twins in the offseason, the Jays would of paid his salary and the Twins would just have to had sent a medicore AA player in return (this was right after they signed Glaus) Terry Ryan wanted to give Tony Batista a chance and prove he was worth that $1 mil contract, so he declined. worst non-move of the season
-
I would imagine the Twins would be looking at him if the price is right since they need a thirdbaseman
-
Rondell White so far is 3-3 2HR and a double
