  1. Haven't really seen during his tenure that Ricky knows what high leverage innings are. At times it feels like he's tanking. As for the start, really it's about what was expected outside of the nice start from Nova. Team has mediocre SP at best, a god awful defense, and solid lineup and a mediocre at best pen. All is going to add up to around 75 wins. Could have squinted and seen 80+ with Machado, that's the rub. Also: let's keep these threads open or make a postgamer win or loss.
  2. RV and RR manage the bullpen on hope. Well, shit in one hand and hope in the other and see which one fills up fastest. It's fucking April, you can burn through some innings with your late inning guys and get them rest later if need be. Blind hope is not strategy.
  3. I don't mind Yolmer, was a huge fan of his as a prospect but I get the vitriol towards him because he's a symbol of the offseason failure. He should be a bench guy, but instead he's starting again.
  4. are you serious? among other things he absolutely dominated the DWL two years running and that is usually seen as AAAA level pitching with plenty of junk ballers. His hands and hips are incredibly fast to the ball and produce easy, light tower power. he's struggling with MLB quality breaking balls, in part because he's getting behind in the count after fouling off hittable fastballs. He'll be alright.
  5. You gotta wonder if Yolmer relaxed this offseason knowing for the first time in his career has was all but guaranteed a 25 man spot. He looks completely unready to play in all facets. I don't think he relaxed too much with a wife and kids at home but he's obviously not all with it mentally that error today was incredible. A soft looping line drive and he completely misjudges it. Similar to the double play ball he whiffed on against the Royals.
  6. If we had a roster of 2 fWAR players at age 22/23 this rebuild would be going a helluva lot better. Moncada is a huge break out candidate this year because of the experience he gained at the MLB level last year.
  7. His bat speed looks fine to me. He's just fouling off fastballs he should be putting in play and is struggling to adjust, like most, to MLB quality breaking pitches. Give him 500 PA before making any big conclusions. And you could argue it should be 1000-1500 PA. Long, long way to go.
  8. well if rick is gonna use covey is the de facto setup guy we're boned, yea.
  9. that pitch Angel missed on Yonder was criminal.
  10. hanging breaking ball and eloy pounds it into the dirt. not great bob.
  11. That was not an easy play and he made it look easy. Maybe he is a natural 3B.
  12. You could see it coming. He still hasn't learned the fundamentals of the game he's watching on a daily basis and his asides keep growing. By July we'll be lucky if he spends a minute each inning talking about the game.
  13. I don't mind this catcher rotation. It's nice not carrying Omar and his incredibly awful framing anymore.
  14. Adam Engel has a swing that makes little league coaches cringe. Jesus.
