  1. Royals announcing crew seems resigned to losing this.
  2. QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 12, 2017 -> 03:40 PM) It's amazing how watchable this team has been with the exception of July. There have been times of bad pitching, quite a few times, but there hasn't been much bad baseball. Lack of talent sure, but not much slop.
  3. QUOTE (Scoots @ Sep 12, 2017 -> 03:18 PM) He has been having some solid contact from both sides of the plate the last few days. Very encouraging to see. Yea he looks good.
  4. Anderson staying hot. His swing looks nice right now.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 12, 2017 -> 02:26 PM) It really seems like Ricky is letting the guys run a lot more in the last month. I wonder if there was a comfort thing, or an adjustment being made? He's also stopped bunting so much. Thank god.
  6. QUOTE (Tony @ Sep 12, 2017 -> 01:08 PM) Thought Yoan might have hit that well enough to leave the park. Ball does not seem to be carrying, at least to RF. Jose crushed that ball as well and it went 5 ft further than Moncada's. I thought it was gone off the bat.
  7. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Sep 12, 2017 -> 12:56 PM) Man Hawk sounds extra done today lol His voice sounded awful last night, among other things. He's just old.
  8. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 12, 2017 -> 12:41 PM) Yea let's make sure this guy doesn't go back to the A's I know, lmao. Like, for real? This guy is worth keeping on the 25 man all year so we don't have to give him back? Who gives a s*** if we give him back. Maybe it's just Hahn trying to stealth tank.
  9. Dylan Covey is the damn tank commander. LOL. That was one of the worst pitches I have ever seen given the circumstances. He couldn't have put it on a tee any better.
  10. It looks like Jose is going to go over 150 games played and over 4 fWAR. Great season from El Oso. Yes Greg, I'm also impressed that he's going to drive in over 100 again as well. Jose is one of the few guys I've watched that is a legit RBI guy. He changes his approach with runners on and less than two outs and usually it results in a well placed line drive and an RBI. He is not up there looking to walk or drive in 5 runs with one swing -- and his approach works.
  11. That was a nice win. Only real bummer was Moncada getting rung up on a pitch 2 inches outside and Lopez sorta tiring the 3rd time through. That said, Moncada looked dangerous at the plate and Reylo pitched a decent ballgame. Abreu is obviously going through what seems like his annual late season surge. One year he'll be playing for a pennant hopefully.
  12. haha, playing spoiler, good job royals
  13. hawk and stone in a really good conversation. 2-0 sox!
  14. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Sep 11, 2017 -> 01:40 PM) Very encouraging to see Anderson start to turn things around. He's always going to be a limited offensive player due to his lack of taking walks, but the mix of power & speed along with potentially above average defense could result in a 3 to 4 WAR player down the road. I'm very glad they stuck with him through this tragedy despite how poor the results were. He's an important part of this team's future and I fully expect a significant leap in development in 2018. yea agree 100%
  15. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Sep 11, 2017 -> 03:22 PM) Sanchez 3B Moncada 2B Abreu 1B Delmonico LF Garcia RF Narvaez C Davidson DH Anderson SS Engel CF Is it wrong that I see that lineup and think "hmm, not half bad"?
  16. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Sep 11, 2017 -> 01:00 PM) I am happy to say that when the choice between Micah and Sanchez came up, I chose team Sanchez. Let that ring out! Really, anybody that thought Micah was a legit 2B should wear the scarlet letter. You let Hawk talk you into that silly idea.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 11, 2017 -> 01:58 PM) He's not dead yet. speaking of that, maybe he's trade bait, him and Avi might bring back something pretty decent!
  18. He is 4th on the team in fWAR for position players at 1.6 and with his recent hot surge he's almost up to league average with the bat -- a quite valuable quality in a guy that plays 3B, SS, and 2B all above average. Personally I'd be considering making him the starting 3B next year. He's earned that shot. If he's really a 2-3 WAR player it would behoove the Sox to give him another 500+ PA next year. He's still only in his age 24 season and will be hitting his prime just as the Sox are looking to contend in 2019-2022. If nothing else he's proven that he'll have a 10 year career as a utility guy. Sox haven't had a player like him in quite a while. Remember when the "super utility" Bonafacio was on the roster? Ha!
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 11, 2017 -> 09:47 AM) I said it in a post in a different thread last week, but his defense has also stepped way back up. Anderson had 22 errors over 91 games in April through July. In the 35 games since he has a total of 4 errors. Let me just pile on the praise for the young man -- he's been really good in the last two months and it's been all around, with the glove too. He's always going to be a guy that relies on his BA to drive his offensive value (and will run hot and cold) but he has to be a consistent, average defender at SS to be a starter even when his bat is scuffling. He has the potential to be much more than a 1-2 WAR player. But for now I'm happy to see him looking like a decent regular again.
  20. I've written him off, hopefully he surprises. Shoulder inflammation after how much they babied him? Yea he's just not durable. Inflammation probably being caused by a problem in the joint. Not good.
  21. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 8, 2017 -> 08:41 PM) But, he was a #1 prospect in all of baseball On potential mostly. He has a long ass way to go. I think they f***ed up not letting him get either 400 PA at MLB this year or just keeping him down until next Spring. Hindsight is 20/20. That said, someone needs to talk to him about giving up switch hitting.
