Uh, leury has been one of the Sox' best players. He is a sell high guy or surefire starting cf next year.

Sox vs Sawks
QUOTE (SoxAce @ Aug 5, 2017 -> 06:25 PM) His average isn't helping. I'm dumbing it down in terms of HR/PA. never mind.

Sox vs Sawks
QUOTE (SoxAce @ Aug 5, 2017 -> 06:18 PM) Anderson has had a brutal year no doubt, but one positive is he's shown more power this year. In that instance, that's a progression from last year. uh no. his ISO is down 30 points.

Lopez to pitch for Sox on Friday?
QUOTE (Quin @ Aug 5, 2017 -> 03:44 PM) Work with Coop and Shields It's a reason I just don't see it compelling. I'd rather him continue to build confidence in his new mechanics without any MLB pressure. I don't really mind either way but personally unless they really want him to work with Cooper for his last few starts just keep in AAA.

Lopez to pitch for Sox on Friday?
QUOTE (Scoots @ Aug 5, 2017 -> 04:11 PM) The future is slowly but surely arriving. Lopez to get his first taste in a Sox uni, likely to stay there, Giolito probably here in September, then here to stay. More than half of our future projected rotation will be here for good starting in September (Rodon, Lopez, Giolito). I'm guessing Kopech gets called up next year at some point, with Dunning not far behind him. Barring injuries, the Sox future rotation is not far away, and can you imagine how excited Coop must be? I doubt they bring Giolito up. I just don't see a compelling reason.

Good, we'll have more reasons to watch.

Eloy Jimenez Calls His Shot
QUOTE (Tony @ Aug 5, 2017 -> 02:22 PM) I'm going to say we see him as the #1 prospect in baseball on some lists in 2018. If he dominates the fall league yea. His hit tool and game (not to mention raw) power are off the charts.

ITS ALIVE!!!
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Aug 4, 2017 -> 12:58 PM) The worst of all this was Delmonico hitting a HR at Fenway and having nowhere to go for reaction. Was awful. Not to mention the clown shoes play in LF that preceded it. It was bad. I'm not going to lie. No place to go.

Moncada first homer!
Beauty, from the 2B, 110.1 mph rocket: https://twitter.com/HyattCraig/status/891162060137955329 The hip turn and timing are insane. Like, Avi would kill for that sort of timing. Jose too. Those guys almost never hit breaking balls like this. Not that they aren't great hitters, but they are certainly different hitters. Moncada knows how to work a count and when he's down in the count he can sit fastball and yet still perfectly hit breaking balls left over the plate. He's going to have teething issues, but man what a talent.

7-28 Games
QUOTE (BFirebird @ Jul 28, 2017 -> 11:14 PM) Could we all be sleeping on this guy? It is easy to get lost in all the hype we have in the minors and he has been hitting everything in sight. He is probably too advanced for his level but I really hope he just keeps mashing. The problem with college bats, especially high 1st round with defensive concerns, is that they are expected to mash until AA in their 2nd year just to hold place. Burger might still be really good and almost MLB ready with his bat, but we're not going to know it until this time next year. And if he's a 3B or a LF/1B with that bat is another issue. That said, it's certainly better than the alternative, not hitting.

Chicago White Sox (39-60) vs Cleveland Indians (55-45)
Jesus, 110.1 mph on Moncada's laser beam off the wall. Kid has a really pretty swing from the left side. It's silly but his hip action reminds me a lot of Cano and his follow through a lot of Griffey. I think eventually he might want to give up switch hitting. I love how he works counts too. He's got some Eaton in him that way and will always have a high OBP because of it. You can see why his ceiling is through the roof. His floor is probably like a poor man's Kinsler, but his ceiling is certainly Cano. A good defensive 2B that can slash 290/380/500 and add 10 runs on the bases is a 6-8 WAR player. A superstar.

Melky thread
QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 28, 2017 -> 04:46 PM) Melky has a fantastic arm. Maybe, MAYBE, it's a tick below elite velocity but that would be more than made up for with his throws' carry and accuracy. Fantastic arm? It's solid at best, mediocre at worst, and it's offset mightily but how slow he is getting to the ball. He's a 1 WAR player. He's going to get the Sox a C+ guy and a PTBNL.

White Sox recall Aaron Bummer and Willy Garcia
QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jul 27, 2017 -> 02:13 PM) Willy is coming back up that's what she said.

Tim Anderson
QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Jul 27, 2017 -> 02:53 PM) 1. The Sox aren't playing for anything. 2. If everything pans out for TA, with his skill set I think he's a top of the order hitter. They should bat him there and let him stick it out no matter how bad he struggles as he refines his game at the ML level. I said this before but I think they should bat Anderson, Moncada and Abreu 1-2-3 every game. Anderson is a long term #9 or #7 right now. He's having a really awful year and it's lowered my expectations for his peak quite a bit. At best I think he's 2.5 WAR type now. There is no way you want a guy with his skillset leadoff. He doesn't take pitches, he never walks, he has an OBP BELOW .270 FFS and he isn't a good base stealer either. He really is having a god awful season and at this point the contract they gave him is looking break even at best. All that said, it's not a big deal if he is nothing more than a backup on the next good Sox team and he's got at least another 600 PA to figure it out.

Reverse Standings Thread
QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jul 27, 2017 -> 04:29 PM) I'm finding a hard time believing we manage to finish 24-40 the rest of the season given the state of our pitching staff, especially bullpen. We face the dodgers, astros twice, red sox, twins, indians twice, rays royals, etc. We are not winning more than 22 more games I would bet. Just wait until Melky is gone and maybe Tyler or Yolmer as well. I have to say, I doubted the Sox would commit to this rebuild enough to be truly terrible and lose around 100 games. But, that's where they are. There is HUGE value in getting into the top 3 spots in the draft, much moreso than say 6th or 7th.
