QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 8, 2017 -> 09:13 PM) I don't see any reason why they would keep him out of Arizona. This kid is unreal. Hahn had a quote on him today: https://twitter.com/JRFegan/status/895069244957663232

08/08/2017 Games
QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Aug 8, 2017 -> 08:04 PM) Jimenez has been ridiculous and Zavala not too much less. I think Collins has benefited from the additions of Jimenez and Zavala as well. Definitely think all three should be in Birmingham to start the '18 season. I hope they send Jimenez to the AFL. With a good performance he could be #1 overall IMO.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 8, 2017 -> 05:07 PM) Dan HayesVerified account @CSNHayes 28m28 minutes ago #WhiteSox for 8/8: Anderson 6, Saladino 5, Abreu 3, A. Garcia 9, Smith 2, Moncada 4, L. Garcia 7, Delmonico DH, Engel 8. Holland 1. I really don't think there's much to it but FFS Rick: pick a f***ing spot for Moncada and keep him there. WTF is he even doing with these lineups.

Matt Davidson to DL, Avi Garcia back
QUOTE (Scoots @ Aug 8, 2017 -> 03:45 PM) Those were basically his numbers when he was with the Sox, no? Maybe just a tad higher when he was here? No reason to think they would change much...other than maybe he might get more opportunities to hit with men on base, but even then he was pretty awful hitting with RISP last year and not great this year...great guy, absolutely love his personality and also his defense at 3B...not so much his hitting. Yeah, he hit 40 bombs...pretty sure a big majority of those were solo shots (or at least it felt like it) or meaningless in lost ballgames. Idk. Will be interesting to see who he goes with next year. He hasn't exactly put himself in a great position to be on a team that is in win-now mode for years to come. Similar, but add 108 points of ISO with the Sox. If Frazier isn't hitting for power, and he's not with the Yanks, he's basically replacement level.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 8, 2017 -> 01:22 PM) And you will see on your left this thread circling the drain... I think we've found the new banner for the last 50 odd games. Just photoshop Shields, Davidson and Clippard over a drain.

Super early but spring training question
QUOTE (mmmmmbeeer @ Aug 8, 2017 -> 02:24 PM) Appreciate it, fellas. I hadn't even thought of using airbnb. This year we (me and two buddies) did more of a "spring training survey" and hit up 4 games in 5 nights and four different stadiums rather than just seeing the Sox at Glandale a couple times as I did prior. It was by far a better experience. Some of the fields are just ridiculous now. Talking Stick field felt like a mini Camden Yards to me and was well worth the drive. Personally I'm still a bit younger (although it's fading, fml) so I enjoyed the college / young professional vibe in Tempe quite a bit. We stayed about a mile south of campus and the airbnb we were at had bikes so after the games we'd just ride our bikes through campus and onto the main drags in Tempe and then rinse and repeat the next day. Having the car was a must to see all the various stadiums. And I enjoy driving in the Valley of the Sun quite a bit. Wide open spaces for the most part, even rush hour isn't that bad compared to what I'm used to here in Seattle. I encourage everybody to go to spring training, especially if you're coming from a cold place. The weather will put a smile on your face and once you go once you'll want to make it a year or semi yearly thing.

On a related note, Todd Frazier has absolutely cratered since he got traded to the Yankees, slashing 200/333/309. Ha.

Matt Davidson to DL, Avi Garcia back
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 8, 2017 -> 01:55 PM) Another guy who for whatever reason is not well liked on this board. Was on pace for 30 homer season. I know, his advanced stats suck and will always suck. If somebody else got hurt, ruining a productive season, there'd be a ton of sympathy. Have you seen some of Davidson's bombs this season? Crushed. Definite highlights in one of the worst seasons in Sox history. This all can drive a person crazy. You don't need to tell me how bad Davidson is BTW. I've read all your advanced stat posts. Yeah, he sucks. I know. We know.

Matt Davidson to DL, Avi Garcia back
QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Aug 8, 2017 -> 11:11 AM) Maybe some Delmonico at 3B? Certainly a better defensive lineup is Saladino or Sanchez at 3B, Leury in LF, Engel in CF, and Delmonico at DH but we shall see. As good as Delmonico looked in spring with the bat he looked that bad at 3B. He is not a 3B. Not even close.

Robert out a week to 10 days
QUOTE (steveno89 @ Aug 8, 2017 -> 12:20 PM) Lets hope he can put these nagging injuries behind him and remain healthy. He needs to be ready to go in Kannapolis in 2018. He'll be fine. A sprained ankle and non surgery required meniscus injury are nothing long term. That said, this kid doesn't need to be running wild stealing bases in the Dominican League.

Matt Davidson to DL, Avi Garcia back
Matt Davidson must be the most celebrated .2 fWAR player in Sox history. Get well soon but meh. If anything this allows the Sox to try Yolmer more at 3B down the stretch.

Avi Garcia to the DL
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Aug 7, 2017 -> 04:02 PM) He could certainly help the team scratch out a few wins though. +1 Wouldn't want to actually win a few more games. I'm being serious. There is zero reason to rush him back. Keep losing. We've made it this far. Might as well go for the #1 spot. Adding a #1 pick to this farm system, not to mention all the additional bonus pool money, is bonkers. The bonkers part is that the #1 overall pick will probably slide in at at #3 in the system behind Eloy and Kopech. drool.

Who Should Be In The Lineup Next Year?
QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Aug 7, 2017 -> 02:04 PM) Disagree on Giolito. He has done very little to prove his ready to take the ball every 5th day in the bigs. I don't really think he should see the majors this year, but suspect they'll call him up for a few starts in September. Next year? I'd bring him into ST with the idea that he can earn a spot in rotation, and if he doesn't, back to AAA. Lopez, yes I agree. He is ready and should be up. Moncada. Ehhhh. He had good not great numbers in AAA. I know his injury derailed him a bit, but there is easily an argument to be made that he should still be in AAA. Not to mention they have several other options at his position. I am fine with being in Chicago, but I don't think he exactly forced his way there. Now that he is there, he needs to stay there. Moncada had nothing left to learn about succeeding as a MLB player in AAA. We've already seen him make some adjustments the past couple games in his approach at the plate. He's still raw but he's so talented that he wasn't going to learn anything more about how to harness it against AAA arms and in fact he could have gotten into some bad habits.

Super early but spring training question
QUOTE (mmmmmbeeer @ Aug 6, 2017 -> 08:21 PM) My brother and I, both living out of state, have made it a tradition to go to Opening Day for the last several years. Given our string of horrible cold, rain, and even snow/ice, we're looking at changing things up next season and heading out to spring training. For you guys who have been, what would be the best hotel to stay at? We're looking to check out games, obviously, but also plan on playing some golf and are both fans of good independent restaurants and bars. Look into airnbnb / 3rd party options. Glendale is a bit away from Phoenix / Tempe so plan on renting a car, you'll enjoy the freedom and even at spring training things are so cheap around the area you will not regret it. I've been twice now, last time stayed at an airbnb in Tempe, the 1st time at a budget hotel and my friend's house in Tempe. Had a blast both times. I think early spring training is better as it's usually cooler and the prospects are showing out.

8-6 Gamethread: White @ Red
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Aug 6, 2017 -> 12:43 PM) Moncada with a .214 BABIP, at some point the bad luck has to end for him. At this point he needs to start squaring up baseballs. Not good contact for the most part.
