  1. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 6, 2017 -> 12:17 PM) I really think when all is said and done that we have a shot at the second slot No way, the Giants and Phillies got the top 2 spots on lock.
  2. My one concern with Adams is that to reach his upside as a 3/4 innings eater he's going to need to gain quite a bit of stamina. Get him on whatever lower body program Rodon is on.
  3. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 6, 2017 -> 03:41 PM) Guys like Pelfrey and Shields likely won't move until near the deadline or shortly after, when teams that need depth have already swung and missed on actual upgrades and are just looking for depth. I don't think either guy is worth anything. Shields maybe you could get a C- prospect for if you pay the rest of his salary. These guys are just .5 WAR starters at best. ZIPS sees .3 the rest of the way for each.
  4. Guys, the obvious answer is that GarPax has taken over from Hahn. Flexibility!
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 6, 2017 -> 03:13 PM) Which is why the idea that it has to be something abnormal coming into play here came to me. On the surface it doesn't make sense, so what is going on behind the scenes that now the team is more interested in Infante than Ynoa? Are they clearing space to make a waiver claim?
  6. Ynoa just cannot throw enough strikes. If he couldn't improve after working with Cooper he's probably done.
  7. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 5, 2017 -> 05:28 PM) Eh they're just not good. Does lately include the 2 recent walk offs ? They're playing the same way they have all year. Bad starting pitching and always playiing catch up is difficult. Bingo. Their offense is actually only slightly worse than league average. If they had the usual Sox starting pitching they'd be right in the thick of it. But, they don't.
  8. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 5, 2017 -> 02:37 PM) If a guy can hit .230, and plays every day, the no way he can hit .265 is silly. It's 17.5 hits per 500 AB. yea it's that easy. Tell it to Todd maybe the Sox will hire you as a hitting coach. I always wonder why I unignore your posts. Someone smarter than me with probability can calculate the odds of a 230 hitter fluking into a 265 season. I'm sure it's possible. Just like a coin can land on heads 4 times in a row.
  9. In today's MLB, with his current hit tool, there is no way he's a 265 hitter, ever. I'm hoping he can stick behind C and in his prime, 25-30, produce some 230/330/400 lines. If he's a decent catcher, that's about 2-3 WAR.
  10. yikes, missed a meatball.
  11. great rebuild game. nice to see from rodon and nice to see from melky and todd.
  12. QUOTE (Dunt @ Jul 3, 2017 -> 07:14 AM) 1.) His K% is at 27% 2.) He has played 5 weeks above A+ prior to this season 3.) Over the last 28 days, his slash line is .273/.409/.477/.886 4.) Prior to yesterday's game, he was sporting a 132 wRC+ 5.) He is really good and is playing really well in AAA No s***. He entered this year, his age 21 year, with like 100 PA above high A. Other than the two weeks before and after his thumb injury, he's been raking. Even when he slumped, he was still taking a ton of walks. By most accounts he has improved his defense at 2B up to where it would be passable in MLB. He has remained #1 on most prospect lists despite having literally a hundred or so guys that could have passed him. Scouts love him. Saber guys love him. There's no reason not to love him. There's no reason to think he hasn't lived up to expectations. Some of you guys need to relax.
  13. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 3, 2017 -> 12:11 AM) Moncada walks We'll take a 380 OBP 2B, no?
  14. Christ what a bunch of BS all around.
  15. man yolmer has a quick release.
  16. Is there anything worse than a guest in the booth during a longish inning? I'm going with no.
  17. that's not a f***ing balk, no way he was over halfway with the plant.
  18. Q dealing early.
  19. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Jul 2, 2017 -> 12:40 PM) After today the Sox will be officially halfway through the season. As a fan, it feels like the it's going to be a really long second half, at least until some of the youth shows up.
  20. f***ing cubs taking advantage of the system. Smart really.
  21. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 1, 2017 -> 05:13 PM) That was not Melky"s fault Yikes. That was a brutal play. Bad jump, slow footed, bad mental judgement, it had it all.
  22. He missed it by a foot. Dude, I've been there in LF, but that was DIII level.
  23. lmao, clown show melky, should have caught the ball then turns it into a 3 base error.
  24. Not even cooper can get Ynoa's wild ass fixed.
