  1. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 08:48 PM) Kahnle is pulling the car around lol lol
  2. QUOTE (RaySox @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 08:43 PM) This is absolute torture. Refreshing on Soxtalk and Twitter every 10 seconds is making my wrists hurt. If nothing comes out of all of this I'll be ticked. Just imagine how much your wrist is going to hurt 5 minutes after they announce we got Torres.
  3. If Nightengale is tweeting that, I think a deal is very close. He's usually the most tuned in national guy for the Sox.
  4. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 08:15 PM) Is there any precedent made for trading for long-term injured prospects? I'd love Dustin Fowler f*** no. That is an injury he's going to have a hard time coming back from given his entire game is predicated on speed. As a throw in sure, as a main piece f*** no. Fully torn patella tendon is a bad, bad injury. I should know, I had two and dedicated a large chunk of my life to learning about it and what pro athletes have been able to recovery from it. The list is not long.
  5. Even if this deal doesn't go down tonight it sure seems like good news that a bidding war has started.
  6. QUOTE (maxjusttyped @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 07:57 PM) Probably a pipe dream, but I'd gladly trade all 3 for Torres. Keep smoking, and keep hope alive.
  7. If Hahn somehow scurries up another great deal by starting a bidding war for Todd Frazier...that's going to be epic.
  8. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 07:40 PM) Could be that a deal is close, and the Sox do not want to run the risk of him getting injured. There is definitely something up. You don't just scratched a player last minute unless there is an injury or trade in the works (or you cut up your jerseys), and Frazier does not appear to be injured. lol, this will never get old. I love Sale but that is a classic meme for all time.
  9. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 07:28 PM) Would be funny if it was the Yanks trading for Frazier and DRob. I do wonder if there was a last second "can you top this" text from Hann to some other GMs.
  10. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 07:26 PM) Yeah, I'm an idiot, just wishing Robertson being in the dugout to start the game actually meant something. Oh no worries you hardly even notice it at the games, let alone on TV.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 07:21 PM) Yes. Sometimes a few of them will start down there on a "throwing day" when they know they don't have to work, but you will often see the bullpen crew walk down to the pen and begin getting loose in the middle innings. Right when you're at the game usually in the like the 3rd or 4th they will head down to the bullpen in a pack. The year Sale was a rookie he had to make the walk in a pink hello kitty backpack in Baltimore at a game I attended.
  12. Boston twitter is freaking out about the potential package they are sending, hahahahaha. Good. Sit and stew.
  13. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 07:10 PM) Real news Jon Heyman@JonHeyman 7:10 PM chisox are indeed in talks with red sox on frazier. he appears to be their top choice. not known to be done, but could happen fairly soon. no news.
  14. If I'm Hahn, DD is my best friend. Dude is not shy about emptying his system. He seems almost eager to do it.
  15. QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 06:48 PM) Martinez >>>> Frazier Not really. Todd actually has the same amount of fWAR the last two seasons. JD can't stay healthy. He's a better hitter, but Todd plays a premium position.
  16. QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 06:46 PM) Don't get me wrong, he should be traded no matter what, but after looking at the JD Martinez trade I'm not all that optimistic what the package will be. I'll be surprised if we get any of their top 15 prospects hahn >>>>> avila
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 06:44 PM) So we're playing 23 on 25 against Kershaw? This...may not end well.... I'm actually fairly surprised how absolutely thorough the Sox have been about trying to lose as many games as possible. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if even the bunts are part of it. They have basically done everything possible to lose by not bringing up prospects, making Rodon the 5th starter, being incredibly careful with any injury, etc. It's working!
  18. QUOTE (Tony @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 06:31 PM) Todd Frazier is a healthy scratch Something's up.
  19. QUOTE (Username @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 06:24 PM) Wow what a buzzkill haha. Wasn't there a "clerical error" that led to Moncada being listed on the active roster last weak? Get your tinfoil hats out with this stuff.
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 06:15 PM) #4 prospect in a system without a top 100 guy...honestly that sounds about right to me. Sickels has Lugo as a B- and the other guy as a D and the other guy unrated. I guess not awful, but as someone said maybe you just take the comp pick you should be able to find a B or B+ guy there, maybe even more.
  21. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 05:51 PM) Meanwhile the Tigers got hosed in their deal. We'll see how that deal ends up. The Tigers seem to have gotten three fringe prospects back for JD, they couldn't do any better than that?
  22. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 11:08 AM) Melky is a one dimensional player, with that one dimension being his hit tool. He is not the worst defender, but he is not good. His arm is not a liability, but it's not a strength. He has a bit of power, but he's not a 20 homer guy. He is not the slowest guy, but there's a reason he doesn't have a stolen base this year. Thus, given all of those attributes, Melky Cabrera rates as a slightly above average player, currently on pace for just under 1.0 WAR for the season. Thus, teams in contention will be looking for other alternatives in the meantime, using Melky as a fall back option. It really wouldn't surprise me if the Sox have a couple packages lined up with teams for Melky, but Rick Hahn is letting them do their due diligence in seeing if they can't find someone better. Hahn isn't dumb and he knows what Melky Cabrera is. C Melky will move, and I think he'll move before the deadline, and he'll be moved for a guy we probably haven't heard much of. Good post but he is slightly above replacement, not slightly above average. Todd is slightly above average. So is Jose. Average is good. If the Sox had more average players the last decade they win quite a bit more.
  23. QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Jul 17, 2017 -> 11:57 PM) Nobody is taking Shields and his contract. Pelfrey is chum Holland has been awful since mid May. Gonzo might work for a team that is desperate. I think they're just babying Rodon. You a poet and thou don't even know it
  24. QUOTE (FLsouthsider @ Jul 17, 2017 -> 08:41 PM) Is it possible that Courtney Hawkins learned how to hit in the last week? sure, it's also possible I win the lotto.
  25. QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Jul 17, 2017 -> 05:00 PM) That's a good point, but my question relates more to the margin between this offer and others. I'd really hate Q giving the Cubs a whole lot more market share over the next three years because of Bryant Flete, who will probably never make it to MLB, for example. You can choose to believe him if you want (and I see no reason not to) but Hahn said point blank "it was by far the best offer". I'm guessing that means that probably nobody else was offering two top 100 guys, and that nobody else was including a top #5ish stud like Eloy if they were.
