  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 25, 2016 -> 09:11 PM) Three real good at bats for Avi This f***ing guy. Every time you're just quite ready to write him off he has a game like this. Be nice if he could pick it up and at least be an average bat.
  2. Gonzalez seems to leave a ton of balls up out over the plate even if they do have decent movement, he's like a homeless man's Robertson.
  3. QUOTE (shysocks @ Apr 25, 2016 -> 08:23 PM) Fulmer has a 6 ERA in Birmingham. Please, stop with the Fulmer. they really hate Erick Johnson, I'm not sure exactly why. He can't be much worse than Danks or this stiff, can he?
  4. Danks would have gotten absolutely lit up as well tonight.
  5. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Apr 25, 2016 -> 08:02 PM) Gonzalez actually looks ok he gets more K's than I expected. Just needs to be more careful with the guys that can hurt you. Him and Latos look similar at first glance. Decent movement, not overwhelming stuff or control. Thing is, this lineup is legit.
  6. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Apr 25, 2016 -> 07:31 PM) Is there any proof that career numbers versus a specific team actually mean anything? Always see them quoted, just seems like it'll mostly be random variance to me, unless they have a consistent offence that has a particular skillset you exploit well right, only thing he had going for him was being right handed.
  7. Darn, karma for Rollins' little chopper on the Melky rip. Still, 25 pitch inning not a bad start.
  8. QUOTE (beautox @ Apr 25, 2016 -> 07:07 PM) Smith scratched lthe f***?
  9. Stone is a pretty smart baseball mind. He'd be better suited to managing IMO than GM but you can tell he knows his s***. He has an excellent understanding of pitching IMO. He knows that even if you're throwing 98 without command and control you're not much. You can see he enjoys working with Jason, who lets him breathe a lot more. Thing is, Jason is too deferential at times. I don't mind Stone. Hawk brings Stone down. I liked how stone wasn't afraid to lay into RV a bit when Jimmy wasn't running on that 3-2 count where they hit into the DP. With Rollins, even with a mediocre jump, there is no excuse not to send him tied late innings or within a run either way on a 3-2 count no matter how many outs or who is batting.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 25, 2016 -> 06:26 PM) They did the same things last year too. How many different 3B's did we have? How many different 2B's? Eh that's different qualitatively IMO. Micah and Conor were relative nobodies making relatively nothing. LaRoche and Avi and Danks are prominent guys either because of salary and seniority or initial promise and all three might be long gone by the dog days of summer.
  11. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Apr 25, 2016 -> 05:49 PM) John Danks will pitch Thursday for the White Sox in Baltimore. Robin Ventura says "we'll see" what happens with rotation beyond that. https://twitter.com/ChiTribKane/status/724716308152094722 Well there's more to it What's gotten into the Sox? Suddenly they seem more than willing to rock the boat from a management standpoint. Have to wonder if Laroche's departure was about more than just the kid, almost seems like it was more about "you guys are pros and if you can't produce, I don't care what contract you're on, you will be held accountable". My comment is based on what RV said post game and this quote you provided. RV is spitting some fire right now I like it. 80% of managing is leading men imo, 20% is tactics. RV sucks for the most part at tactics so at least lead the men. Sometimes that means a little fire and brimstone. Not all the time and RV is certainly a cool head, but you can't always just say "ah shucks he'll turn it around".
  12. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Apr 25, 2016 -> 06:03 PM) This whole thing was shady beyond belief. Puig's story was a wild one too. Makes you wonder if the families were left in Cuba because smuggling them to the USA was impossible, or if the smugglers wanted to maintain some leverage to make sure the players paid up. If nothing else, the fact that Obama is trying to normalize the relationship with Cuba should help guys like Jose that are just trying to do right by their family and play the game at the highest level they can. It's not fair to the Cuban players and Cuban people to have to suffer because or their non democratically elected governmental. The smugglers aren't "bad" but they are un-necessary in a world where the US and Cuba have a normal relationship.
  13. Frazier certainly has helped but really its been the OF. Melky has been good, Jackson has been good, and Eaton has been amazing. This time last year, Melky was bad, Eaton was mediocre, and Avi was brutal. Lawrie has been better than advertised at 2nd so far as well. I think this team has already converted 15 or so outs that last years team wouldn't have. Most of them in the OF. Micah and Avi replaced with Eaton and Lawrie. Obviously Sanchez came up and solidified 2B defense but Micah was historically awful for the first 30 or so games.
  14. QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 24, 2016 -> 05:46 PM) KC's got them by a run. Run differential really paints the disparity in the NL. Brewers and Reds staffs are just getting pounded. oh s*** I was mentally giving it to the Sox, lol, we'll take the actual better record.
  15. Melky sporting a cool .8 fWAR and a wRC+ of 160. It would be nice to get a 3 WAR season out of him after that s*** show last year.
  16. oooooOoooo! Sox best Run Differential in the AL! Woot!
  17. Benetti is, for the most part, solid. You can tell he's still learning the game but at least he's making an effort. I also like that Stone is a MILLION times better with Jason than Hawk. Hawk is such a clueless old coot that he rambles on about some point (leadoff walks, yaz, bullpens) and then just trails off and Stone is like "uh...back to the game" or "I dunno about that". One thing annoying about Benetti is some of his inane questions to Stone like 101 stuff not just baseball but athletics. Like his question about "does yesterday factor into Robertson's mindset today" it's like of course not. Maybe if he had blown like 3 saves in a row but one game? Come on he wasn't even that bad yesterday just didn't have great command. That's just one example he's had plenty some Stone is just like "duh" but is being nice about it for now. Overall, it's good. We'll see if Hawk is any better with more rest but I doubt it.
