  1. so what does engel have to do to get benched?
  2. This club has a lot of juice. Love it!
  3. Man I'm glad I'm not a Tigers fan. That Cabrera contract is going to be brutal. It already is. I think he's pretty much done as a star. Could pump out a couple more 2-3 WAR seasons maybe.
  4. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 5, 2018 -> 03:48 PM) I mostly love how he is so good at picking it in a place that he can get a good throw off. He doesn't have a rocket arm but it plays well even at 3b because he is always in position to get it out. He has the fundamentals down absolutely pat. I wish TA would field more like Yolmer. You never, ever see Yolmer off balance or trying to round off a ball. He is always fielding the ball right under the bill of his cap, in a straight line from his nose to his belly button to his butt to his knees. Exactly how they draw it up in infield drills for the kids.
  5. I could watch Yolmer pick baseballs out of the dirt all day long. He has the best hands I've seen on a Sox middle infielder. Better than Alexei even. I guess Crede would compare.
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 5, 2018 -> 03:39 PM) I'm starting to like Yolmer. He's way above average defensively right? he's one of the best defensive assets in MLB given how he's good to elite at 3B, SS, 2B.
  7. Yolmer is good folks. Stop sleeping on him.
  8. Hawk was nice for a batter or two. Now he's rambling.
  9. lol, cock shot "breaking ball" hangs dead red over the heart of the plate and it's popped up. Thank god.
  10. QUOTE (onedude @ Apr 5, 2018 -> 03:27 PM) Not sure if Omar has always had that gear...but I'm a fan of the all white/grey catchers gear he has. yea it looks really slick. I noticed it too, I like it.
  11. QUOTE (mmmmmbeeer @ Apr 5, 2018 -> 03:26 PM) This is about as bad as Danks starting the home opener a couple of years ago. oh god. thanks for reminding me.
  12. away, away, away, seems like he's going to make a mistake here and leave one middle in.
  13. Leury need to learn that as an OF your job is to GET THE BALL INTO THE IF. Stop pump faking dude.
  14. Engel should be benched after yesterday but is what it is.
  15. QUOTE (iWin4Ron @ Apr 5, 2018 -> 11:17 AM) This weather sucks. hopefully they can play 2/3 here. It's looking like they might only get today in. Sucks.
  16. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Apr 4, 2018 -> 09:54 PM) For what it's worth, there was a scoring chance. Fulmer is on the hook for 2 runs, not 3. It is not yet updated on box scores, but @cst_soxvan tweeted it. thank god they changed that "hit" on the humpback linedrive engel dropped. an overall horrific defensive game from engel tonight. we'll see who gets the start in cf tmr.
  17. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 4, 2018 -> 09:45 PM) I never watched a full game of his in september, but I remember it being a lot more 2 seam fastball and changeup, vs the whole arsenal being deployed in every count tonight. ty, that's encouraging.
  18. QUOTE (Jake @ Apr 4, 2018 -> 09:31 PM) Big story of the night for me is Fulmer's stuff, which looked premium. Good velo on the fastball, lots of run. Cutter gave lefties a hard time, used the change as well. Didn't always stay on top of his curve but when he did it looked good. Still fought his command, which he's going to do for a while (if not for his entire career) but he looked like a different guy out there. to those that watched him closely at the end of last year -- was this different or new? I admit he surprised me tonight he had it working at times and showed good disposition as a starter (can't let a 2 run inning turng into a 4 run one and so on) which is something reylo also struggles with and reylo did well with that too his first outing. if it's one thing this org knows it's how to develop sp so I guess I should give them the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise. So far so good the first time through for the kids. Reylo obviously was the most impressive on paper but all three battled and got the job done.
  19. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Apr 4, 2018 -> 09:28 PM) tonight's last three relievers looked fantastic. jones and soria are solid to perhaps very good at the back. the rest of it? the sox are going to be in trouble in a lot of 6th innings this year. At least until some new faces are brought in all around to the pitching staff midway through summer.
  20. solid tank win. Fulmer (obviously) surprised me. Haven't seen that kind of stuff from very often, at least not at the MLB level. Had some pretty great breaking balls tonight.
  21. old habits are hard to break.
