White Sox Futility Under Williams/Hahn/Ventura
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 31, 2015 -> 06:19 PM) In a ballpark that's generally considered a hitters ballpark and in the AL where you don't have to face the pitcher, you can be one of the best pitching staffs in baseball and still meet that standard. While there are some issues with using it on its own, fWAR is a good double check to see if that fits. Here's where our staff has ranked in that stat in all of MLB over the past 7 seasons: 2015: 5th 2014: 23rd 2013: 16th 2012: 12th 2011: 2nd 2010: 1st 2009: 4th Yep, can't really use ERA at the Cell. Good post. Cooper and Pitching is not he problem. IT'S THE OFFENSE AND DEFENSE

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 31, 2015 -> 06:16 PM) Says the poster who said Hahn's offseason was great before the season started. Well thank god for hindsight! Jeez, it's almost like someone, a national writer, well respected by both scouts and saber guys, someone like like Jonah Keri even said it was a great offseason and wrote 1k words on the Sox for Grantland... Wasn't just me friend.

White Sox Futility Under Williams/Hahn/Ventura
QUOTE (LDF @ Aug 31, 2015 -> 06:13 PM) let me play devil advocate...... then why should RV be blame. Because he does dumb s*** like not challenge in the bottom of the 9th and bats Salidino 2nd and runs out of pitchers at least once a year. I can't stand RV's tactics. His "teaching" and "leadership" are more amorphous (and harder to critique) but I see enough with just his piss poor tactics to move on.

I don't blame Cooper or Stevenson at all. Get better players.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 31, 2015 -> 03:02 PM) 63-99 66-96 66-96 70-92 Gardy's last 4 years. Tell me, how many division titles does RV have? And Balta, I think they are mostly partially guaranteed on a case by case basis. There's no CBA to abide by.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 31, 2015 -> 12:29 PM) By the reports I've seen his extension runs through the 2016 season although we don't know the dollar amount. I don't think they are guaranteed, are they? If they fire him he's done getting paid, not like DFAing a player.

Robertson Claimed by Yankees, pulled back by WS
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 31, 2015 -> 03:05 PM) Having a high paid closer on a 75 win team seems pointless, I was hoping maybe he could bring back some talent at other positions or maybe even free up money to spend elsewhere. Well they're gonna need a very good closer (notice I didn't say elite, not sure there are any anymore) eventually so IMO they might as well keep him.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 30, 2015 -> 11:38 PM) No one is going to hire Kenny Williams for gosh sakes. You fire him or keep him. No team wants that guy. He exudes ego and doesn't have the resume to back up his ego. I'm with ya here Greg. Nobody is gonna hire KW and give him final authority. At absolute best he'd come on in an advisory role to another executive who has final say on all transactions and budget allocation. Only JR is foolish enough to give this man final authority at this point.

8/29 vs Seattle Mariners
QUOTE (Saufley @ Aug 29, 2015 -> 09:41 PM) Maybe Stone feels he's sitting in the booth with someone who isn't qualified to be sitting in the chair next to him. then he should check himself because chuck is a pure pro and it's not his fault Hawk is old and the SOx have no backup plan... Sox' own fault. f*** Stone.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 29, 2015 -> 06:32 PM) Shouldn't have 2nd worst hitter batting 2nd I agree but at this point it's just deck chairs on the Titanic.

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Aug 29, 2015 -> 06:23 PM) It's going to be fascinating to see what happens with Samardzija this off-season. I don't think ANYONE can predict what he will sign for. He's going to accept the QO, no doubt about it. I wouldn't even offer it to him. f*** him. f*** the sandwich pick.

8/29 vs Seattle Mariners
f*** this team, I hope they lose every game from here on out. At least they can get a better draft pick out of it that's the one thing they haven't screwed up lately.

8/29 vs Seattle Mariners
If I had a ticket for tonight's game I'd be absolutely PISSED I didn't get to see Trayce. WTF Is wrong with these guys. This ORG is really going to be in for a shock when attendance goes even lower next year. And WTF do they expect they SLAP the fans in the face time and time again.

Chris Tannehill/Score trying to make Harrelson look bad...?
QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Aug 28, 2015 -> 06:34 PM) National media for sure. You know, the people who are experts in this sort of thing. Don't try to pretend Jon Miller isn't great. I'm not a fan of Miller just because I prefer the Scully style of "less is more" and Miller IMO tends to over-explain. That said, Miller is so far better than Hawk and Stone that I hesitate to even really critique him. He's a fine broadcaster. I listen to a fair amount of the opponent's broadcasts on MLB.tv and I'm not sure there's a worse overall crew than Hawk and Stone. Stone is mediocre at best and Hawk, this old ass version of him, is bottom tier, no doubt.

8/28 7:10 PM White Sox (Danks) v. Mariners (Walker)
The 16k that showed up tonight were treated to a real gem.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 28, 2015 -> 09:17 PM) Soto continues to outplay Flowers everyday. Take the money they are gonna waste on Alexie and give it to Soto. Please. He's the only guy on this team that has out performed expectations offensively.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 28, 2015 -> 09:17 PM) Soto continues to outplay Flowers everyday. I forgot to mention it in my write up from Safeco but Soto has at least partially gotten over his yips. He doesn't do nearly the amount of crazy gyrations, plate brushing etc he used to do. In fact one time Danks wasn't ready for the ball and he even was able to hesitate and throw a nice ball right back to him.

White Sox Futility Under Williams/Hahn/Ventura
QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Aug 28, 2015 -> 08:45 PM) Just put it in this prospective -- remove yourself from being a White Sox fan. Look at the teams from 2009 through today, and decide how you would guage the results? I'd say most, if not all, would conclude that management did a horrendous job. They were unable to sustain success.....or failure. So what was left was a perpetual cycle of mediocrity. They haven't been mediocre in awhile. They've been bad. Most stretches of bad this long get a GM fired. Or, you know, at least a manager.

Micah Johnson back at AAA, expected call up in Sept
Who is the replacement? Literally anyone. Ramirez has been below the definition of replacement level this year by a good amount. Just throw any AAAA guy in there if you want to go cheap. If they think they are gonna contend then find someone that could possibly give you 2 WAR but replacing his production? Shouldn't be a problem. I will say it would be the most Sox thing ever to rush Anderson based on a hot spring. God I hope that doesn't happen. Would really like to see him get another year to refine everything without the pressure of the big club. They need to be patient with him.

QUOTE (Real @ Aug 28, 2015 -> 03:13 PM) KW goes to Seattle but still works for the Sox in a supervisory role. lmao. Oh man, I needed this chuckle. That would be the most JR thing ever. Hey, maybe we can move Seattle into Camelback as well.
