  1. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 24, 2014 -> 02:56 PM) Sox need a good everyday LF in the worst way. Take ADA and DV money and get one in 2015. Marcus Semian?
  2. QUOTE (Friend of Nordhagen @ Aug 24, 2014 -> 02:54 PM) He makes up for the D with his high OBP, impressive slugging average and blazing speed on the bases. He has 1 tool -- arm.
  3. QUOTE (1dog @ Aug 24, 2014 -> 02:40 PM) Lol I think Beckham is terrible and was ecstatic to see him go. I should have added that he is not an MLB player either. Was basically just agreeing with Friend of Nordhagen. Couldn't have said it better myself. Maybe Hawk just loves all 2B? He doesn't fawn over ADA's idiocy. Lol ah, yea, I thought you were talking about Sanchez relative to Gordo, lol
  4. QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 24, 2014 -> 02:36 PM) Hahn mentioned they've thought about it. I don't really think it's a good idea I'd rather just get him a platoon partner and have him continue to try and improve at 3B.
  5. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 24, 2014 -> 02:29 PM) Offense MIA in NYC. Conor really needs a platoon partner and in general Avi is still working back, Eaton is out and Jose isn't in beast mode right now so tough to string together many hits. Don't get me wrong Jose is amazing I love that he's not just a slugger but him hitting singles and doubles and taking a few walks just isn't going to to much in this offense, not until they get more around him.
  6. QUOTE (1dog @ Aug 24, 2014 -> 02:09 PM) Absolutely infuriating. He's not a Beckham, and not a Major League Baseball player. Period. Didn't know Gordo's mom posted here!
  7. lost in that is that he compared Andy WIlkins to Abreu.
  8. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 23, 2014 -> 12:11 AM) The Will To Win argument comes full circle, lol. How to quantify it? If we can't put a number to it, the idea of mental weakness/intestinal fortitude/clutch...then it therefore doesn't exist. Ozzie put it well, when asked about if curses or mental obstacles caused the world series drought in Chicago: "no, just a bunch of $hitty ballplayers". Same thing with The Will To Win
  9. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Aug 22, 2014 -> 11:33 PM) I don't think I've heard anyone here say Avisail Garcia sucks. (yet) I agree with you to an extent though. Projections and scouts both love Avi and so should Sox fans. Give him a full season you're going to see 270-290 with 15-25 HR and a decent OBP. In a few more years, he could way past that. Also, his defense since coming back has looked much improved. We know he can run a bit as well. A 4 tool player. I put him as "star" in my analysis the other night and I think if he stays healthy he'll have a long productive career on the South Side.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 22, 2014 -> 11:18 PM) He also never seemed committed to the idea of Hector Santiago being a starter, and he would easily be the 3rd best starter on this team. Hector Noesi has the same bWAR as a Sox (.6) as Santiago has with the Angels. If someone is offering you Adam Eaton in a package involving Hector Santiago, you sure as hell listen. It was a good trade. The team is improving, it needs more work, if players have to get shipped out in order to balance things out long term so be it. Hector obviously had value but so far the Sox have won that trade.
  11. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Aug 22, 2014 -> 10:53 PM) Tanking is never good. And whether or not Robin and his insistence on walking batters and his bullpen choices are to blame, is there not some measure of responsibility the manager bears for another lousy season? Actually they ought to back off Q and Sale. And with all of the interesting hitters in Charlotte, why in the world is a limited hitter like Danks getting the ABs. It could be L Garcia, so I suppose I shouldn't complain. Trust me I've ripped Robin time and time again here. I'm just done beating that dead horse I'm not going to convince anyone that still defends him (laughably imo) at this point. His tactics are some of the worst I've seen in 20 years watching the Sox. He reminds me a lot of Jerry Manuel. A "players' coach" that costs a team 2-3 wins a year with awful tactics. It's ok though, if the team is bad next year Robin will be the fall guy. If the team is good then his errors become more visible and he'll come under more scrutiny in a pennant race. I don't like him but at this point I can only shrug and hope the roster improves, that's more important in the long run anyways. And yes, tanking is often good, see Carlos Rodon.
  12. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 22, 2014 -> 10:42 PM) Cannot blame RV or some posters will have to bite tongues. Can't blame Robin for this one but who cares the Sox are tanking fantastically towards a top 8 pick. Only thing that matters rest of the way is the production of the youth and the cornerstones like Jose and Sale and Q. Forget wins and losses the next 30 odd games and enjoy watching some of the new faces.
  13. QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 22, 2014 -> 10:01 PM) I was hoping Hawk may go the way of Marty Benson. lol
  14. QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Aug 22, 2014 -> 09:36 PM) This ump can go f*** a goat Hopefully the Goat has better eyesight.
  15. QUOTE (shysocks @ Aug 22, 2014 -> 09:35 PM) Home plate ump has taken two walks away from Dunn now. Despite Hawk's claim, he has not had a good game back there. Yea kinda was harsh on Dunn with my post. He should have had a walk.
  16. LMAO, Michael Kay: "that what he specializes in, the double play". Uh, pretty sure he specializes in gasoline throwing and match play.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 22, 2014 -> 09:23 PM) This duo should be present at the draft next year when the Sox have a top 10 pick. Yea, I was just thinking "I'd rather see Rodon right now then Belly"
  18. John Danks to Bellasario, out of the fire and into the frying pan.
  19. QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Aug 22, 2014 -> 09:19 PM) @ChuckGarfien: Don't ask me to explain the home plate obstruction rule. They might as well put a swimming pool at home plate and let runners jump into it. The Diamondbacks won't let anyone in!
  20. what a stupid decision. Maybe we'll get a gift run on blocking the plate.
  21. That ball is 3 inches outside, what a joke
