AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!

QUOTE (Señor Ding-Dong @ Sep 3, 2014 -> 12:11 AM) Flowers is the greatest catcher of all-time. Too bad he'll be left out of the hall once word of his PEG use gets out. Performance enhancing glasses. Viciedo is such a tease. How about Sanchez? A lot of you guys are ready to hand the job to Semien or Johnson and write off Sanchez as trade bait, but I like what I see out of the kid. Let those three battle it out for the job in ST then decide who to trade. Sanchez is the real deal why people wrote him off as on the outside looking in is beyond me. He's still extremely young and has a defensive position at 2B locked down if he can hit 40 points above his weight. What I'm saying is of all the Sox' middle infield prospects it's Sanchez that has the glove to start in MLB right now. If he hits 280/310/390 and runs the bases a bit he's a 2 WAR player, easily better than Beckham. He played well in AAA this year and is holding his own in his brief MLB audition this year. -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 2, 2014 -> 11:54 PM) That's a pretty excellent first sentence. Can't argue with that, except some of those Sunday games where they looked like dead fish and that recent homestand where they sucked eggs. Again, you said it all in one sentence. Back when in May Hawk's "our guys won't quit" was actually pretty spot on. But it just meant this year they actually have an offense with a pulse and guys that can get on base and guys that can hit it out. They have a lot of superstars, they need a few more scrubs (relatively). It's a good approach to team building IMO there are more average players around then stars, and having a few superstars means you can get below average players in your everday lineup and still win. -

One of the most exciting bad Sox teams of all time probably. Flowers is earning a chance to continue to start in '15 imo. Granted his high BABIP early on masks alot of suckitude but defensively and durability wise he's solid and that's important, especially if the Sox are trying to break in Rodon next year. Not saying they can't do better -- they can -- but he's at least an option, that's positive. -
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Sep 2, 2014 -> 11:43 PM) If we can't snag Victor next year, I'd love a Wilkins/Viciedo DH platoon with Andy getting the occasional 1B start and Tank the rare LF/RF start. that would be awful. If Viciedo isn't a full time starter (and he's not on any team trying to contend in 15 as the Sox have indicated they are) then he should be moved. Wilkins isn't even on the radar at this point unless they completely fail to find anyone else intriguing. That would a failure. As a 1B only he'd have to really rake to earn a spot and I just don't see it they can find a higher floor DH. WIlkins floor is Dunn like production in '11, that's not acceptable.

God I forgot how much I hate the stupid ignorant ass Twins announcers. Avi's ISO is like 200 dumbass a lot of his hits are not singles.
-
lol why in the world does tank continue to hit cleanup. If anything freaking move him down to 6th and let Avi do it for a night.
-
Good, let Jose rest up he's earned it. I'd also like to see Alexei continue to get more days off as well. Eaton and Avi should keep playing to continue to get more experience.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 2, 2014 -> 03:02 PM) It's also a convenient way to say, out of Spring Training next year, that he "still needs some work" and to then have him called up on May 1st (so as to maximize service time without it being obviously gaming the service time loophole). Yea I never really bought the argument that he was somehow ordained to be in CHicago this fall. Maybe if they were in a pennent race and he could come be the closer or setup guy but there is no point other then "getting his feet wet" to bring him up this fall. He can "get his feet wet" next year in ARI and come up in May.
-
No Mitchell, he can pretty much kiss any shot of making MLB again in Chicago good bye. They should just release him so he can try and catch on somewhere else. Seems like they can still bring Rodon up if they want later in the week.
-
and where the hell is the roster move news. jeeze it's like 12 almost in chicago.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 2, 2014 -> 12:06 PM) Given cost control and the price of the output, I wouldn't trade much more than Quintana himself for Stanton. He's a free agent after 2016 and he's going to cost $20+ mill a year (and it could be closer to $25 mill) to retain long term. I think the most likely way a team trades for Stanton is a big package of prospects plus Garcia. I figured something like Anderson, Beck, Montas, Sanchez/Johnson/Semien, and Garcia gets you close. If that gets you close, then the answer is "no". Garcia himself could provide 80% of what Stanton projects over the next 5 years.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Sep 1, 2014 -> 06:17 PM) 2 for 3 with a HBP, HR , 2 RBI. Yep I watched part of the game the fans in Oakland were cheering their ass off for the big guy. Good for Adam glad he's gone as always though. I don't mind the A's they are a scrappy bunch that spends next to nothing on payroll so I root for them against teams like the Angels or Tigers or Yankees. -

QUOTE (BaconOnAStick @ Sep 1, 2014 -> 03:46 PM) A player like Adam Dunn does not have his performance effected in any way by the manager. I doubt being around Bob Melvin for 12 hours prompted that HR. it was the Adam Dunnest HR of all time. On 90% of days in the bay area it's a long fly ball out. Ball is carrying well there today. I wish Dunn the best I hope he carries them to the playoffs and retires a champion. -
Def dodged a bullet now he's almost certainly not going to be the pitcher the Yankees though they were getting and he has that awful poison pill opt out/in clause that means the Yanks are screwed either way.

QUOTE (Wickel @ Sep 1, 2014 -> 10:10 AM) Turmoil where? How about starting with the pitching staff? How about the lame bullpen? And both are the result of a non-responsive GM (although he was a major improvement over the beleaguered Kenny W). I, for one, thought we missed a golden opportunity in July to bolster the staff before the trade deadline. Our offense was more than holding its own--although Hahn is slowly dismantling it--and a few strategic moves in the pen and maybe adding a viable No. 4 or No. 5 starter would've worked miracles. Hell, getting a strong No. 3 would have sufficed. We were only six or seven games back at the time, with Abreu burning a a path on the diamond. But this happens every year, probably thanks to the big boss Mr. Reinsdork! 4chan has some interesting stuff going on now maybe you'd feel more at home among the other 12 year olds there. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 31, 2014 -> 09:04 PM) I think a lot of them will have their own versions of it. Everyone has their version of WAR and in general baseball teams are pretty damn good about valuing players. Sure a guy like Gillaspie or Abreu slips through the cracks once and awhile but for guys like Dunn and De Aza for example WAR has them around .5 to 1.5 win players, and the market reflects that. WAR is a pretty decent shorthand way to value guys. Now, when you analyze any player you go way beyond WAR but as a MVP starting point it's pretty damn good for a single number.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 31, 2014 -> 10:32 PM) I don't think anyone will trade for him until after the arbitration offer deadline because they wonder if the Sox will non-tender him, and then I don't think anyone will trade for him afterwards because if he is offered arb no one will want to spend $5-6 million on him next year. I think he'd get less than that as a free agent. Yea exactly he has no value. He's a .5 WAR (at bets) player that will cost around 3-5 million. Even if the Sox bring him back it will be as a platoon option and that is absolute best case. Would not be surprised to see him traded for a similar type ("your junk for my junk" or just non tendered.

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Aug 31, 2014 -> 08:54 PM) Thank you Angels Watched some of their game today, Gordo looked like s***. Popping up weakly to RF like his apt to and missed a hot hit but playable ball right at him at 3B. -
don't forget keppinger. Really the only guy I'm a bit pissed is still around is Tank.
-
lol Joba f***ing with the ump.
-
The beat reporters don't even both to lookup the contract status of De Aza and Beckham and/or understand the non tender. It was doubtful either would have been brought back even if they weren't traded. Hahn is getitng rather creative with the ID of "saved money" imo.
