Sun Times says it’s time for the Schrif to move on
chitownsportsfan replied to Dick Allen's topic in Pale Hose Talk
To give an example of a couple TV teams I like I'd throw out the KC crew and the Mets' team. KC crew is a former low level minors guy, position player, dad played MLB ball so familiar with the game, but he also has a great voice and call; he's paired with another former player, forget his name, who was a pitcher so has a pitcher's perspective and those two can bounce things off each other naturally during a game. Mets crew is the best mix of serious baseball and fun. It starts with Hernandez not taking himself so seriously even tho he's more of a legend in his home town than Stone will ever be. The more I consider it the more I think Stone is just as big of a problem in the booth as Schriffen. There's only one way to work with Steve and that's to kiss his ass and just ignore his sour puss inclinations while flattering his tired talking points. Really straight jackets the play by play guy. -
This season has been “less awful than most”

I'm enjoying the Tigers' melt down NGL. -

So fucking weird. The Sox are really leaning into the thirst trap game on twitter as well I've seen. Hosting random "white sox girls" pre game. Just another thing that annoys me about this franchise. Keep a little less thirsty on main. -

I'm not really sure if he can develop much oppo power but it would be nice to be able to flip one into RF from time to time especially on the road in bigger parks. That said, you're right his break will be buttered as a dead pull hitter if he's a solid big leaguer. Lots of guys make it work, we just never seem to find them lately. -

A very nice pull power swing. Solid batting eye. Needs to become a full time 3B and work on his overall contact skills this offseason. -
Most consecutive 100-loss seasons in MLB history

I'm not absolving JR of jack crap but the Sox have been hurt considerably by structural changes in MLB: namely the competitive balance picks and the draft changes. You have every other team in the division getting additional picks and the Sox for all intents and purposes operate as a small market team, MLB just doesn't qualify them as one given the current rules. -

Cease has had a s%*# season. Walking almost 4 guys per 9. Elevated ERA in today's run environment at 4.6. K rate is up but so are hits. He's missing bats, but he's wild and getting hit hard when they do make contact. Colson should be able to get in some good counts tonight. -
Parking argument seems absurd to me. This isn't some field out in the middle of nowhere. It's reasonably well served by CTA from what posters have said, if not perfectly, well enough. How many people would stop coming if they couldn't just park within 500 feet of the stadium? Like 10% of the people that come out? 50%? I don't know, maybe our crack PR team could do some market research. The Mariners for all their failures have done a good job of making the area around Safeco a fun tailgate area and pregame spot. Did they close some parking lots? Sure did. The parking lot is now a vendor area and it's fine. Granted Seattle and Chicago are vastly different cities geographically and transit wise but I don't think many fans give half a crap about less parking. They want fun, things to do, people looking like they are having fun. You what doesn't look like fun? Giant parking lots.

Sun Times says it’s time for the Schrif to move on

The "win win win win" crap can stop as well. Not only is that song passe and old now (it was great 4 years ago) we don't win. we lose. when john is like "play the song" it feels like a bigger deal then it should be to just win a single baseball game. -

Here's another wild one: he referenced that Noel dude's nickname as "christmas" TWO DIFFERENT TIMES AND BOTH TIMES SAID IT'S BECAUSE HE SMILES A LOT. Bro. -
The only hope I have for the Bulls is that Matas fell into their lap and he has star if not superstar potential. He will take a big leap this year into one of the better two way players in the league imo. How GMs figured he was only the 11th best prospect in that draft is something.

What's really crazy is that John's story about being a D1 pitche before blowing out his arm is almost surely, 100% made up. Nobody that would have been at that level would be so ignorant about basic baseball. Nobody has ever really pressed him on it. -

Off topic but Sox season is over and boring anyways. I can't stand King and Amin belittling other teams and players and doing their giggle routine as the Bulls lose again on the way to another 38 win season. It is not professional or endearing. -

Adam Amin drives me nuts. No more clown types please. I am not here for a comedy routine I am here to watch a baseball game. -
You've got that empty suit Kevin Warren around to screw things up as well. Why the hell the Bears figured some TV exec gladhander type (fine as a conference president) would be a useful FO addition is anybody's guess. Dude doesn't have a clue about building an org.

I don't have a lot of faith in Ishbia TBH. His brother is a dipshit owner and I'm not sure he'll be any better. The only thing we can probably count on for sure is that we won't be a bottom 1/3 payroll, which in itself is nice but guarantees nothing.
-
Already telegraphing the "expect nothing be grateful for anything" PR approach to the offseason. This franchise sure has a way of doing things under JR. Hopefully Ishbia cleans it all up, including the game day management and PR department.

yikes.

He really thought Fletcher was a starting RF. LOL!

It's probably just fatique but it feels like the team has finally quit on Will.

9/16/25 Game Thread Orioles @ White Sox 6:40 PM
chitownsportsfan replied to nrockway's topic in 2025 Season in Review
Man, season has flown by. Back in the first week of March I was sitting at a bar in Kahului enjoying my last few hours in paradise and decided to do a MLB fantasy draft. Have had various Sox on and off this year, riding the Colson experience for a couple months now. Had Sosa and Vargas at Smith at times as well. In the semis this week. Be nice to win the week and have the Sox take this series and push for 63.
