Well it's not much but I believe he now has healthcare for life and a partial pension for life as well. The pension is something like 9K a year for life. Probably not enough to life on unless he wants to go back to the Dominican and live quite frugally but he's certainly got a good start on the rest of his life -- if he does retire.

It is freaking amazing that the Sox had horrible, no good backup catchers for like a decade, and now that they have had a plethora of riches at catcher for a couple years, with Collins now a part of that as the backup, that people can't see how great the Sox have it when Collins is your backup. Every single team in the league would give their left nut for a backup catcher with a 115ish wRC+ against RHP. It's not Zach's fault that Grandal is hurt. That said, get Zevala off this roster. I don't care if Lucroy keeps getting released he's a better player than Zevala right now.

Neither is close to contending IMO. They might be close to becoming a .500 team. KC has no pitching; Detroit needs half a dozen position players. I hope KC over values him and their roster and they screw it up.

I think he has similar value to Rutherford at the time. Hopefully Sox are willing to take on some prorated salary to grease a trade.

I think he could easily return an excellent reliever. Not saying that should be the goal but he has trade value similar to the return the Sox got in the Kahnle deal imo.

I think he looks like a mediocre 3B. He has a good arm but everything else defensively is below avg. If he hits it doesn't matter. He's an intriguing trade chip.

Great post. Looking at the stats of the players you named I'm going Hinske. A useful player but not a guy you want starting on a good team.
