  1. Sox have a horrific track record of trading young cost controlled players too soon.
  2. Again: why would you sign a 1.5 WAR aging FA in order to jettison a 1.5 WAR younger, could still improve player you have under team control?
  3. it's going to cost more per WAR to improve a 92 win team than a 75 one almost every time. That's just where we are at. Yes it's "expensive" but winning is expensive.
  4. I said that a couple days ago. If that doesn't get it done, then fuck it, but it should.
  5. What's he gonna bounce back from? He hasn't been a league average player in nearly 4 years now. People are living in the past.
  6. this is what was supposed to happen with Kimbrel! It's not Hahn that is wrong, it's rest of MLB!
  7. But why? Why sign a player that is possibly worse in 2022, pay for the privilege and ship out a cost controlled asset as well?
  8. The Fukodome comps are lazy imo. This guy is three years younger and that is the key difference. Fukodome was a good player until his body started to give out on him after a few years in MLB. It's really hard to transition as a player at that age not only culturally but physically. You're taking a giant step in level just as your body is starting to bark at you more. From what I read on Fangraphs this guy has a chance to be an impact defender and slash like 270/320/430, in today's MLB that's a 2.5 maybe 3 WAR corner OF. Did they overpay? Possibly, but that's the price you pay to acquire talent in FA.
  9. Only as good as ur offense I’ve heard
  10. Sox got the short end of the stick no doubt.
  11. That fucking trade is going to haunt us a long time isn't it.
  12. The plan was to be 3-4 wins better on paper by now, that is not the case and several other contenders have done so. I'm not going to the mattresses yet but it certainly is frustrating and dampens the mood a bit around the new season.
  13. Good indicator the Sox are nowhere close to having enough spending power to do much in RF.
  14. Don't want to start a fight but Harold when is this "bidding war" for Kimbrel gonna conclude? Crickets on this front.
  15. Sucks to see these names coming off the board this morning at prices the Sox could but won't match. Doesn't feel like the Sox want to spend much more than 4th OF money. How they got to this point has been well chronicled and it's not exactly ideal.
  16. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/projecting-seiya-suzuki/
  17. Exciting deal for Cubs. ,
  18. That's a fair deal imo, high AAV but years not too bad.
  19. I mean if it was OOTP I'd have shipped out Jose and made Gavin the full time DH but it's not so I'd prefer to keep him around in case Jose misses a few months.
  20. Right, 600 PA against...200. Come on now bub.
  21. Nothing is fucking happening man. This is like the hot stove if you left preheat on and fell asleep before you got the dish in.
  22. I've seen nothing to indicate Sheets can play OF at anything other than at a -15 run (so ~ -1.5 wins) or so level over 130 or so games. Vaughn is a different beast. Vaughn isn't fast but he gets good reads and has a natural OF's ability to judge the ball that is curving away from him. Vaughn can be a league average LF. We need an everyday RF. It's not Engel and it's not Gavin.
  23. how come we're not in on this Suzuki cat?
  24. Sounds pretty nasty. Almost as bad as ruptured patella. On a personal note now 6 years since my ruptures, just did a 20 mile bike ride this weekend and thirty reps 225lbs on the squat rack, god bless you rehab and medical folks!
  25. That's good, now sign a RF and move up to 85%.
