  1. thank god they did not give Giolito 200 million.
  2. Someone probably asked him if wanted Jake in the lineup, he didn't have his hearing aid in and thought he heard "do you want some jack" and one thing led to another.
  3. Weather's good in Chicago now, no?
  4. Momentum is today's starting pitcher.
  5. I honestly wonder if Eloy can even play a crumulent 1B. As Vaughn has showed, Eloy isn't just clumsy for a MLB athlete, he might be clumsy by everyday bloke standards. Like, LF isn't that hard for anybody capable of making MLB and Eloy made it look like he was playing with one eye closed and a resistance band between his legs.
  6. Please tell me we are not back in 2019.
  7. baseball doesn't have trap games.
  8. The only move I didn't like was the Dunning trade. Eaton, if healthy, is a productive player and if the Sox figured he'd be healthy who I am to argue otherwise they have his medicals not me.
  9. So far so good for Hahn's moves. Liam needs to find his offspeed stuff but he's not going to carry a HR/FB rate of 31% all year.
  10. Somewhere in AZ Ronaldo Lopez is working to get on that list!
  11. He's had some injuries but maybe not quite an ace that's a high ask for any young pitcher. Certainly not a guy with peripherals as bad as early Giolito however.
  12. They are god awful with almost nothing to show for 5 years of rebuilding. They only need about half a dozen position players and maybe they could win 80 games sometime soon. Their young pitching looks busty. Mize has gone from a can't miss ace to a guy you hope is a solid 3rd starter.
  13. Def something to watch. I have no idea other than that perhaps pitching is just a science now in the offseason and guys are able to improve their spin rates and movement and velocity more than hitters are able to improve their swings.
  14. Moncada 36th in fWAR despite his "slow start". Champagne problems on the Sox so far this year.
  15. well at his height being a setter is more realistic.
  16. I get that people are scared because Don Cooper as a horrible influence for the last 3-5 years but this is a new era under Katz and the Sox' improved bio-mechanics team. Until proven otherwise I have no reason to doubt them. They clearly want to try and slowly turn him into a starter, people can doubt the plan, but that's the plan.
  17. Of course he does because he's not throwing max effort on every pitch. This is inevitable. Did people really think he'd a) not lose velocity as he gets stretched out and b) would carry a 12 K/9 rate with a ZERO walk rate? Nobody should ever have the expectation that a guy will average 100 mph on his fastball. He's at 96.8 this year, it's not like he's throwing 92 now. He's taking a bit off to not rip his elbow off and attempt to potentially become a multi inning guy this year.
  18. The Twins' shit start has totally hurt them @caulfield12 They were roughly even with the Sox to win the division prior to the season now FG has them at 18% to win division and Sox at 56%. In fact, they were at 48% on Fangraphs preaseason with Sox at 32% to win the Central. Turns out being six games under after you've played 20 matters, go figure.
  19. Fangraphs has them at 66.9% (noice) after today's win. Sounds about right.
