  1. glove was tracking too far down imo, those are almost never called low strikes. has to get the glove lower initially imo. at least he was able to get some 95mph in there, little encouraging, and Yoan just fires a fucking seed, mercy.
  2. he's completely fucked up again. throwing across his body, no release on his off speed. Great.
  3. He has good hips and gets good reads. Not fast but certainly you don't need to be that fast to chase down most balls in the corner of LF at the G-Rate. I just think that Eloy has some of the stiffest hips you'll ever see on a pro athlete.
  4. I think in the 2 spot he might feel a little more pressure to change his approach, which so far has worked for him. It also helps turn over the lineup to have a good OBP in the 7 spot. Just wish the 8,9 hitters where a little better but whatever this is still a good overall lineup.
  5. Vaughn is t-10 among LF in fWAR. Absolutely amazing to step into a new position at age 23 and just become a top half LF in all of baseball. The sort of scouting and development the Sox have lacked for decades. Certainly things can change but so far so good, he's surpassed even the most optimistic expectations. Certainly proving me an idiot. I thought he needed at least 200-300 more PA in the high minors.
  6. Leury is completely exposed as a starter. He's a fine bench player in fact he's rather invaluable given his versatility but I don't see any reason Hamilton shouldn't be out there today. Hamilton is actually hitting the ball with some authourity might as well try and bottle that pixie dust as long as possible.
  7. Might not be politically correct way of putting it but yes, it's a self soothing thing and it's clear he's got some nervous energy on the mound that oftentimes hurts him.
  8. No manager is perfect and great managers have made worse mistakes in bigger moments than La Russa. If it was easy, everybody would do it.

  10. I mean with your name and postings I always think Holden Caulfield! Who was certainly a compelling eccentric!
  11. Tony screwed up not knowing the rule. It was a bad mistake and probably cost the Sox the game. That said, just as important, because EVERYBODY makes mistakes, players, coaches, GMs, managers, Sox talks posters: is that he owned it and moved on and the Sox have been on a roll ever since. People respond to that leadership. He didn't pass the buck and say "oh I delegate that stuff to my guys and nobody told me". He didn't say something like "well if we had executed it wouldn't have mattered". He said he fucked up and he signaled to his men that the important thing is to own it and move on and try and do better next time. So pretty much the opposite of how he handled his DUI, but hey, baby steps.
  12. Really? Caulfield is many things but mean spirited and prone to personal attacks isn't among them. He's an eccentric but he's our eccentric and I can dig that.
  13. He's def a bad body language guy but I don't think it comes from entitlement or arrogance just wants to win and perform and gets in his own head too much sometimes when he doesn't. I'm glad the Sox didn't try and lock him up, that's for sure. I'd still say of anybody that has value he should be dangled first if some team wants to give a king's ransom for him let them.
  14. CCs podcast is a pretty good listen since somehow he came up in this thread.
  15. Well if you have Jerry Jones and Al davis on your TLR thread bingo card go ahead and collect at the front.
  16. I think it's mostly mental with Gio. When he gets too amped or uptight his mechanics go to shit and he has a hard time finding his release points.
  17. TLR has earned a little grace but I agree with most of that cheers
  18. Trust me we feel the same about you haters have to just leave it until the parade I guess?
  19. I'm with you. No reason to sell the A ball guys right now. That's how things can unravel on a potential 5-6 year contender. Right now team looks really strong in most areas, certainly strong enough to contend. No team is perfect and yes flags fly forever but you don't want to shorten the window selling out for one or two years.
  20. Well if you believe the Fangraphs playoff odds standings the Sox just took the Twinkies from about a 15% chance of winning the division to under 5% and increased their own odds from about 60% to 73%. After they update I'd guess Sox are now projected to win about 91 games and would have like a 82% chance of making the playoffs. Not bad given the injuries I'd say!
  21. apparently they are too scared to talk to him or something. more stupidity. I have to question how many media types have ever worked on a team of any sort. this isn't an industry that attracts weak willed people in general and I would be every coach on the Sox will speak up when they see something that TLR should correct or know about. It amazes me people watched the clown duos of Steverson, Rickie, Ventura and Cooper for so long and want to b**** about this new set of coaches and the manager. this is a breath of fresh air. Katz is the fucking man and it's obviously TLR has empowered him to do what he wants.
