  1. You live around there? Interesting place. Man. About 10 years ago, back when I was still a young pup in my mid 20s we did an epic SXSW and beach trip that included spending two nights on South Padre on the national shoreline. I'll never forget we were listening to the NCAA Tourney on the beach and drinking some of the cheapest handles of liquor known to man. What a stunning place. It's too bad about the petro industry down there tho. Dirty. I don't mind the rigs but just the amount of tar and shit on the beach was unacceptable imo.
  2. Sounds obvious but try corner stores, bulk discount stores and pharmacies for paper goods and sanitizer and cleaning goods. Also Amazon has plenty, although prime shipping is now 3-4 days instead of 1-3 in most locations.
  3. Yea I'd imagine in most exurban and suburban settings things are already restocked. My experience is simply within the Seattle metro area, which is probably unique for quite a few reasons. Not the least is that the Nordic base culture here is close to the "don't bring shame to yourself" attitude that helps Japan and other Eastern societies controlling the virus. People here are fairly communal, for better and worse. In these times it's for the better.
  4. I had you on ignore until about 5 minutes ago
  5. Give it two weeks. Then everybody will have so much god damn TP in their basement they won't need any for a year. We had the first death last day of February. Peak store panic was probably week of March 14-21st. Stores were back stocked normally by about March 25th or so. Every corner store here has "1 per customer" limit on hand sanitizer but you can find it easily.
  6. Eh, I wouldn't worry about food so much as paying rent and other bills. I can tell you that from experience in Seattle the first two weeks saw all the hoarding. We are so far past that now (onto week 5 now) the stores are flush with TP and chicken thighs and all that again. It's just that NOBODY is operating a business. If you are, like myself, you're doing it with extreme caution, with reduced hours, at about 50% volume and have furloughed or just laid off your workers. This is a unique crisis and fortunately many Americans are taking it more seriously than the POTUS. But I wouldn't worry about food as much as jobs.
  7. @southsider2k5 eh I wouldn't trust the numbers from India or any of SEA outside SK and Japan really. That said, that we are even in a world where the Indonesian response in any way comparable to the US' is just sad and depressing. @turnin' two you're a trumpkin we get it. nothing dear leader does is ever bad. or if it's bad, it's only because of the democrats or the media and is it really that bad anyways compared to... Trump is a joke man. His inaction is and was a joke. His pressers, where he can't articulate a position, can't answer any questions, are a joke. His entire fucking existence is a joke and we have him in charge in the greatest crisis since WWII. God help us all man.
  8. Yup. Like watching a team with a weak manager try and get on the same page. Good luck. Leadership starts at the top and the "leadership" from Washington thought this thing would "be down from 15 to zero" if he didn't let a cruise ship dock. I mean, is this real life? Are we really in this with Trump at the helm steering the ship in a circle and asking all his deputies to plot a course to safe harbor while he keeps grabbing the rudder every other minute?
  9. I'm old enough to remember when the US simply being "as good as (meaning as bad as) the rest of the world" at handling shit like this was seen as unacceptable. Of course the GOP tricked Americans into thinking Good Governance doesn't matter, at least as long as you could point the finger at your neighbor for why your life stalled out. What a pathetic situation the GOP has created in America. This is where we are at. Simply "not being China" or "doing about as well as Europe" is considered strong leadership.
  10. It really wasn't a bad move, other than Rickie batting Reed 4th. I mean, if the Sox really like Yermin and think he could be a cheap DH after Jose there wasn't any reason to start his clock late last summer when Reed was floating around for nothing but a 40 man spot.
  11. Not really. It was never "very bad" here because we almost immediately shut down after the first case and death at the nursing home. Things are "fine" here for the most part. The hospitals are busy but not overwhelmed. People should be looking at Seattle and WA state as an example of how you can come out of this. We have probably 2 weeks left, maybe 3-4.
  12. if you look at the data WA has already turned the curve. New cases are flat here.
  13. Yea better to over-react than under-react but no need to push it out that far right now.
  14. There will be sports. Once the testing is widespread enough they'll start up again. No fans until fall or a vaccine but they will be playing games by middle of June, almost guaranteed. Honestly if I'm Manfred my entire focus would be hiring a crack team of medical pros and logistics folks to get this sport going in 60 days. Restart Spring Training May 1st and season starts with daily player testing in June.
  15. For me personally it's all about getting in the mindset of doing an insane 45-80 minute HIIT workout with supersets, plyos, some steady state cardio mixed in and doing my three day split of back/shoulders chest/arms legs/core. I just can't replicate that instensity at home, I never have been able to I'm just one of those guys that needs to be "at the gym" in order to workout to my potential. I've been jogging, doing some sprint work and body weight stuff outside but it's just not the same. Thanks for the advice though I"m def going to have to get some workout bands to at least maintain my strength.
  16. I'm starting to lose my mind. Physical health is out the window. I've pretty much quit drinking but I've picked up a horrible carb habit I'm eating a lot of pizza and haven't been able to workout like I want in weeks Just can't replicate the gym's equipment. Closed my business last week for the time being. Might have to use the money I had saved to pay taxes to pay rent in June or July if this shit lingers but whatever, worry about that when it and if it comes. Really hoping baseball can start in June. If not, man, it's going to just be a horribly slow and shitty summer. edit: and to add, the weather here has been absolute trash. 40s and rain. Seattle "springs" are usually hit or miss. Looks like this year will be another miss. Haven't really had a nice one since 2018. Last year and this year very poor although this year can still turn around.
  17. IIRC The Hard Ball Times did a thing on MB where they looked at his FIP/ERA difference and explained it as mostly a function of his incredible defense. He picked off so many guys and caught so many more balls up the middle than most pitchers that he was like a one man shift and it saved him about 8-10 runs a year or effectively about 1 WAR. Not quite a HOFer but certainly in the HOVG and his number should be retired on the SS. Remember this opening day?
  18. I can't stand Josh's voice. That is all.
  19. Yup, Illinois and Chicago seem to be doing fairly well as well. I'm worried about the deep south reinfecting half of America in August tho.
  20. Same in Seattle. Strong leadership (warning without scaring) works, go figure.
  21. Crazy how this would be opening weekend and I'd be hyped through the roof and now it's hardly even a thought in the back of my mind. Sports are important, until they're not.
  22. For sure. I don't think the season will be cancelled but everybody that sat on their ass for two months and then has to go into camp again in May isn't going to be in peak readiness by June.
  23. I love it. It's actually MORE in depth than OOTP IMO. I have FM 16 and have waited on buying a newer one because of match engine problems. Those seem to have been completely resolved in FM 20. I will be buying 20 when it goes on Steam sale as it usually does in summer. If you like soccer at all (or you like management sims) you'll easily get hundreds of hours out of it.
  24. I just won the Championship title with Wolves in FM 16. We are going to struggle to stay up but with the right transfers we will.
