This is my concern as well. If he's not hitting 20+ HR a year and he's not catching, he's not really a useful player. One of those two things has to happen.

One of the benefits of the Mariners and Sox sucking so hard lately is that usually I can sit behind the Sox dugout at Safeco for about $50. I think two years ago I got 3rd row behind the dugout for like $35 + stubhub fees.

I can't remember who, but a prospect guy (was some national guy) compared him favorably to Carlos Santana so it's possible his bat is that good that he can be a 1B/DH/C but I don't know man. Obviously that would be a great outcome for his career.

If he finishes with more fWAR than Chris Sale this year I think we owe Rick Hahn a round of beer at next year's Soxfest. Sale currently has a .3 fWAR lead. Not a great comparison because fWAR is based on FIP which isn't based 100% on what actually happened but good enough for our purposes. Both teams did really well from that trade.

If he can't stick at catcher he's not a prospect. So, how's he looking there?

He has now played 81 games in MLB, all of them before his 23rd birthday. He has produced 2.1 fWAR in those games. ZIPS is now convinced he's an above average starter true talent and as you said you can squint and see a future where a 10 WAR season -- say around 2021 -- isn't out of the question. If he slashes 280/400/530 and is plus 10 runs at 2B he's getting close, that would probably be about 8 fWAR. He's a fun guy to dream on, you can see why he was #1 overall for a minute.
