  1. He's making good pitches tho to get guys. That was a better, slower breaking ball.
  2. That is the definition of a "get me over" breaking ball.
  3. Got nothing on that breaking ball, ugly.
  4. lol, so much for my xfip comment. Gonna need to find more than fastball second time through.
  5. Look fastball dude, come on...
  6. TA needs to stop worrying about striking out and start guessing with two strikes.
  7. Morneau is great on the Mic, for those that are tired of the Sox team.
  8. speaking of sucks, this wine I just bought sucks. fuck.
  9. xFIP sucks. It's no better than FIP for predictive power and in some cases is even worse than ERA it appears, or it's about as good either way. I used to love xFIP but the adjustment for HR "luck" somehow actually makes it worse than FIP. By FIP, Lopez is a solid 4th starter. That's not bad given where he's at in his career.
  10. As a west coaster that was hoping to kill the last couple hours at the office with the game on -- FML.
  11. Key words in that quote: immediate and foreseeable.
  12. Hahn traded Q at the perfect time. Just checked up on Q to see if he fixed his slow start -- not really. Walking over 4.5 guys per 9 and only worth .6 fWAR so far. He's been bad. K rate is down as well.
  13. WTF. A flash flood? Christ, what's next locusts?
  14. Good old fashioned physical exams. Do you know of any technology that allows trainers and the medical team to measure the forces a player is putting on his elbow? I did find this, interesting: https://www.drivelinebaseball.com/2016/10/elbow-stress-motus-sleeve-velocity/
  15. Yea he's a solid regular playing like this and as you noted you can win with solid regulars. Good job signing him to that contract as well as it looks like he'll be worth it, including the options.
  16. There were a lot of really dumb decisions made in 2016. I'd love a "tell all" to come out about some of those decisions.
  17. Anderson now with a 101 wRC+ and 1.6fWAR. His defense has really solidified since about the midway point last year. He's basically a slightly above average (solid) starting defensive SS. I don't really expect his bat to develop much more as it seems he's traded BA for power and more walks. Maybe if he can get back up into the 270 range he'll turn into a 4-5 WAR SS, but for now I think he's settled in around the 2-3 WAR range which as @Jake noted, is a good job by the Sox' drafting and development team. I don't see TA ever consistently putting up an OPS over 800. Maybe one year he could run into something like 270/330/500 but I'd expect much closer to 240/300/440.
  18. really? Where the hell did that come from.
  19. yea, both do pretty well. fegan is a godsend, his coverage is amazing. he's a guy that excels as both narrator and observer.
  20. I feel like the Sox should have an overarching PR guy that only feeds injury info on prospects wrt to random subs in the minors (or not so random).
  21. Thing is there's really no reason to waste the service time. They might as well keep him down the entire year IMO. Just grab the year, fuck it. He's not an Eloy like situation where the talent and skill is overwhelming and it will hurt development to not get some taste of MLB this year.
  22. dude he's rolling...
  23. I still remain convinced based on these reports that Kopech would be doing the same jekyll and hyde routine in MLB, and flashing at times just as well. He's a lot like Lopez IMO. If he's commanding and has fastball velocity he's going to be good more often than not.
