  1. in a way it's ideal. when they are ready to compete upgrading these AAAA players will be relatively straightforward.
  2. James Shields still thinks he's an ace and it's sorta endearing.
  3. unfortunately I don't think his bat is good enough to carry his glove. His glove is really bad.
  4. James Shields is like lukewarm oatmeal. at absolute best it's something to get you by until better options are available.
  5. Zips only sees 1.3 fWAR for Yolmer this year but over his last 160 odd games he's produced about 2.7 fWAR. So there's some doubt from the projections but there no reason not to give him the rest of the year to see if he really is a 2-3 WAR player at 3B. I personally think he is but I've long been an optimist on Yolmer.
  6. that was no ordinary outage it was the EMP blast from that Nuke off his bat.
  7. So frankly this is very embarrassing (trust me I spent time on it) but how the fuck do you embed a tweet?
  8. https://twitter.com/TJHannam10/status/988602738740219904 It's obvious Yoan has a very powerful, compact swing. I've long touted it as basically a carbon copy of Robbie Cano, at least young Cano. This has been bore out in the exit velocity stats coming off his bat. It's a short, violent swing. His problem on 94+ heat imo is that he cheats to recognize changeups and breaking stuff, especially deep in the count, because before MLB his swing was so damn good it didn't matter if he wasn't looking fastball he could catch up to it. Probably in AAA he got challenged some this way but not like he does in MLB, especially late innning with the power relievers. He's sporting a 14% walk rate and a K% of 38%. A wRC+ of 133. 1.1 fWAR. He's probably good now, not just in the future. Yea he's going to struggle to hit above 250 this year but with his talent all over the diamond and that power and eye it really doesn't matter much for now. As he matures, you'd expect his hit tool to improve. If it does, look out. He'll be one of the top 10 players in MLB.
  9. ugh. another shit loss. oh well, at least the pitching was better.
  10. Sox never bunt in the few situations you should actually bunt. That was probably one of them down a run late with a really overmatched hitter at the plate.
  11. 3.1 inches outside and a strike that's in the running for one of the worst calls of the year.
  12. As was my reply. For some reason I thought he was a LF/CF. I forgot that for almost all his starts HE WAS THE FUCKING DESIGNATED HITTER. lol.
  13. I forgot he was DH. I must have burned that out of my memory.
  14. Jacob May, Cody Asche and Adam Engel. Even for patient fans, that is a lot of horse shit to wade through in CF.
