  1. Pisses me off the Sox weren't able to win one of the last two. FWIW it appears that they got into TAs head the rest of the series so mission accomplished.
  2. I'm skeptical too SS2K but his oZone swinging percent is down about 10% and he's making more contact both in and out of the zone when he swings. He's almost +5 runs on "sinker curve" (I think that's two seamers and sinkers?) and is negative run value on every other type of pitch so far. That's...interesting. Obviously he's a mistake hitter but I dunno if I'd ever throw him anything but breaking balls and 4 seamers up. We'll see if the league adjusts. Maybe he is a true talent 240/320/500 guy now and the Sox will have a decision at DH next year.
  3. It's too bad you can only field one DH at a time because the Sox have a few of them on the roster.
  4. Honestly at this point I'm hoping he's 80% of the player Ramirez was for the Sox. Ramirez was a very good player in his prime and even in his down years he was respectable. Nearly 18 career fWAR and only wasn't a solid starter after he got old and slow.
  5. In the future it might behoove the Sox to bat Moncada in front of Abreu and Davidson so they think twice about bringing in a Lefty late innings.
  6. Back when the Sox are on AM 1000 it would come in crystal clear about 600 miles away in N. MI on a summer night. Those were the days. Used to fall asleep listening to the games.
  7. Sanchez is quietly picking up where he left off last year at the dish. Not overwhelming in any way but is certainly proving a competent starter at 3B.
  8. I have no idea, it's 2018.
  9. And he makes a great pitch to get him. Can't foul off meatballs.
  10. Man I thought Moncada was going to park that. He got a cookie.
  11. Not sure if you have an EPL equivalent but MLB has this thing called "MLB.tv" it's pretty affordable and you should check it out. You can watch every game, every replay, etc for about $120 a year.
  12. please tell me we aren't bunting here.
  13. It looked like he might have missed (or thought he missed) 1st base. He sorta pimped out of the box but whatever he got the job done with a well struck ball.
  14. They should have been ripping Soler for making a HS level mistake and not finding the wall on a towering fly ball.
  15. Everyone had to tag with 1 out. Where was he going to go after he got to 1st?
  16. ah unlucky, right at him. good inning.
  17. wow, nice play Soler, holy fuck, lmao
  18. I am so fucking ready for robot umps. Sick of it. Time and time again they miss pitches that are not even close.
  19. quite the batflip on that walk by Abreu.
  20. Dylan Covey should be on the banner.
  21. you're the one that thinks he apparently should...be better? He has a 155 wRC+ entering the game. Christ. He's not going to turn into Avi Garcia with a 80% Ozone swing rate.
  22. Why would he swing at a pitch that probably wasn't a strike and if it was had nasty break? Sure an elite hitter probably fouls that off with two strikes but give the kid a break.
  23. We can argue about this one play all game. My point overall is he needs to improve. Massively. Like I said, I think he's a good young player but if he's not a MLB quality SS -- and the tide is starting to go out on that early this year -- he's going to have a hard time being a solid starter. And that would be a big setback. I'm officially worried. Hopefully he plays great the rest of the way defensively.
  24. I'm done giving him the benefit of the doubt he has over 2300 innings at the MLB level at SS. It's time to start making the plays that are there to be made. That's two games in the last three he's made a bad error in a huge spot. A solid MLB SS makes the plays 98/100. And Tim's history shows that those aren't his two times just unluckily sequenced. I love the guy but he's got a long ass way to go defensively.
