QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 28, 2014 -> 11:51 AM) What a dumbass broad. She should've put on an Ortiz jersey and intimated a needle going into her arm. People are idiots. Yes on the 2nd part because of the first.

Rosenthal speculates on deadline deal candidates

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 28, 2014 -> 09:23 AM) Obviously you would have to see the trade package. Ask yourself this: Does the trade give you a better chance to win a World Series? If the players you get in return could be part of your next championship team, you make the trade. If not then you probably keep him. It just depends. But I'd listen on any number of the Sox veterans to improve the young core. Look at the Pirates for example: You ask them for SS Alen Hanson and one of their top line starting pitching prospects like Kingham or Glasnow. I would end up taking 1 of those guys as a headliner for Ramirez and then some lower level type guys as well with Pittsburgh paying the salary. If I'm paying the salary, they are giving more. That's just one example of a team that could potentially be interested. One key for me is going to be whether or not the White Sox can get a LH bat back. Either a really high level starting pitching prospect or someone who can fill in the LH bat need. Looking at how guys are hitting this year, the LH bat need is just going to be magnified with time. It'd take a whole lot for me to really look at a RH hitter with the way things are shaping up. -
QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Apr 28, 2014 -> 09:20 AM) Ideally, we get Tank over to DH, and replace him with a lefty OF with better D. You know, a guy like De Aza, if De Aza were any good. Personally I still think if Viciedo ever gets time to settle into a position, particularly RF, his arm will play well enough there to make him an average fielder and a guy you're happy with in the OF. I could certainly be wrong in that, but worth stressing that letting him work his way into a position over time has not been tried at all.

QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Apr 28, 2014 -> 09:09 AM) Not in the forseeable future, and Rangel's not too far away. Sure, things could change. I think there's definitely a lot less in his path at 3B. And here's another possibility for 2015. We're mentioned. http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/04/...season/related/ Dunn and Konerko are gone after this season. The Sox would still be in the position of needing a LH bat somewhere else in the lineup, but if Ravelo could hit tolerably, Abreu and Ravelo filling the 1b/DH slots would be an option that could be a winner.
-
1. If there was any chance he could stick at 3rd it's hard to imagine why they'd move him to first. 2. The path at 3b isn't any clearer than at 1b. We happen to have just traded our closer for a highly rated 3b prospect who is, himself, currently blocked. 3. If Ravelo could play a solid 1b and hit...there'll be a role for him on the big league squad at some point.

QUOTE (ChrisLikesBaseball @ Apr 27, 2014 -> 11:48 PM) Either his AVG or OBP rising would seal the deal. If he's a guy who takes walks and when he hits, hits for power, that's damn noticeable too. Right now pitchers are just learning that they can't challenge him and that he adapts when they try to do something to him like work the low and away area. He's going to start walking more as people get more careful.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 28, 2014 -> 12:41 AM) It's actually scary what he's doing in cold weather. For once I agree with Greg.

No problem with that, worst that happens is he gets in trouble and it becomes like a 9-3 game. Save the pen for an inning if you can.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 27, 2014 -> 04:16 PM) Ravelo is a f***ing beast. Had a slash line of .309/.466/.509/.975 coming into today's game. So far today he's 2-3 with two doubles. He just turned 22 years old which means more and more of those doubles will turn into HRs as his body matures. I'll wait a few more months before I get too excited, but damn has been good this year. Haven't we kinda already been saying that for him for a couple years now?

Viciedo's 8th walk in 23 games. He had 24 all year last year.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 27, 2014 -> 04:14 PM) Just showing how silly it is to blame a manager for sloppy play. I guess on here the exception would be Robin. Between being taken apart by a 29 year old rookie and sloppy play on the field I wonder if this isn't one of those games the Rays just aren't here for, instead looking ahead to their travel later or something like that. Which might well be something you can hang on the manager. Wouldn't be the first time they've had something of an "offday" under Maddon right before travel. Mark Buehrle turned one of those into a perfect game.

QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Apr 27, 2014 -> 04:15 PM) More of a Greg Maddux-type to me, and that's being kind to Maddux.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 27, 2014 -> 04:03 PM) are you watching this game? Spring Training must have been one giant kegger for them. So what does that mean for the team with 2x the number of errors? Or are you doing nothing but the usual trolling and wasting everyone's time?

@JeremySF 39m Good thing the Clippers owner isn't here to witness that. #DubNation #BeatLA pic.twitter.com/3quh433cma

QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Apr 27, 2014 -> 04:01 PM) Hypothetical - if Abreu was named a free agent today, what would the bidding reach? Just from what we've seen this month I'd guess close to $100 million.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 27, 2014 -> 03:57 PM) If the Sox play like this, Ventura is not qualified. Maddon must be a buffoon. Errors coming into today: Tampa Bay: 7 (best in AL) White Sox: 17 (middle of the pack, which is a huge improvement from last year all things considered).

QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Apr 27, 2014 -> 03:47 PM) Don't forget the anual Rose season ending injury. But the Bulls will hustle their way into the playoffs (We're probably more than a few games away from that. Maybe 10).

MLB Home run leaders: Jose Abreu: 10 Kansas City Royals Team: 10 Albert Pujols: 9

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 27, 2014 -> 03:38 PM) One game away from no Hinrich and no Boozer. Look at the positives. And one game away from getting hopes up re: a major upgrade, and instead having Mirotic stay in europe and walking away with a couple late-first-round draft picks and a few veteran pieces to fill out the roster.
-
QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Apr 27, 2014 -> 03:29 PM) There's also a difference between a 3-year body of work and a 4-week one, but I'm just talking about the reactions on here when De Aza makes a mistake tending to be very exuberant, particularly about his intelligence. Worth adding again...Viciedo hasn't been a right fielder in 2+ seasons. Mental/hustle complaint fine, be mad at him for that, but misplays? That should have been expected when he switched positions again.
-
That was truly a remarkably inept possession. Wiz missing like 3 wide open shots, Gortat completely ripping the ball away from Noah and getting nothing out of it.
-
If the Bulls hadn't dug themselves such a giant hole this spurt would have made it a game.

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Apr 27, 2014 -> 03:09 PM) From a fans point of view I agree, I think there is much more bad blood between the organizations now than there ever was when the Trib owned the Cubs. The Trib was a business partner with the Sox after all since they broadcast their games Don't really buy that either. 8 years ago we had our manager regularly joking about hiding from the giant rats every time he went to Wrigley, and hell, the fact that the Trib owned the Cubs gave Sox fans a regular reason to complain about unfair coverage.

QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Apr 27, 2014 -> 02:43 PM) These preset rotations are f***ing mind boggling. How the hell can you not have DJ in right now when all you can hope for is some hot shooting and quick offense? Isn't he in foul trouble?
