Hawk talking about back door action

Those are some impressive air shots. Giant metal trucks and industrial equipment tossed a mile or so. Everything in the way just leveled.

He's also still the youngest player in AAA in baseball right?

QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 20, 2013 -> 08:50 PM) Would not suprise anyone on this board. Now that he's said it, it won't happen.

THAT WAS A BEAUTIFUL SWING LEXI

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 20, 2013 -> 08:36 PM) This next half-inning could be a lowlight in Sox offensive history. (Crosses fingers reverse-jinx is in place and we put up a crooked number somehow.) Woo hoo! A run in the worst inning Eva!

QUOTE (fathom @ May 20, 2013 -> 04:56 PM) Dunn should have gotten the night off, as he's been destroyed by LHP this year (.069). I'm surprised Beckham's not up yet. Boom.

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ May 20, 2013 -> 05:47 PM) Kepp better produce tonight or someone should kick him square in his goddamn ovaries. Sigh.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 20, 2013 -> 04:30 PM) (Yes, I know you're referring more to "top prospects" here.) Of course, that's part of the reason we're in a bad place for now....at this exact moment, Dunn, Danks and Konerko are 3 of the biggest issues with this year's team, and Dunn/Danks are still going to be pretty big factors in 2014 as well. We might be shedding a lot of salary, but there's going to be a VERY leaky bullpen if Crain, Lindstrom and Thornton are all gone. That said, we should want nothing to do with Thornton going forward (unless his salary was cut in half at least), blahhh about Lindstrom and Crain's worth a lot more as a trade chip (if we fall out of the race), as overpaying him based on his results this year would be the reliever equivalent of Jeff Keppinger, or buying high on Dotel/Linebrink. The Sox are going to have to spend some money on a lefty if they can't make Veal delicious again, I'll grant that, but seriously, don't count out the reinforcements on the way up. We did that last year and then guys like Jones stepped up big time. Omogrosso seems like he might be a guy the Sox can work into something useful sometime soon as well. If nothing else, stick the name "Daniel Webb" in the back of your mind. After seeing him, he might well be in the show much sooner than any of us would expect.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 20, 2013 -> 04:16 PM) PS If Odorizzi and Myers becomes stars for the Rays, they might yet end up regretting that Shields trade if all they get out of it is a .500 team that's at least not a joke, but not competing for the division title, either. A team like the Rays just has to make those kinds of deals. They can't let their guys walk, particularly since the new CBA made draft pick compensation harder to get. They have to do the best they can to avoid trading for a guy who will bust on them, but they have to take their guys close to FA and try to trade them for the league's best prospects. If they bust, they have to do it again. They really don't have a choice. If they went "all in" and then started shedding guys to FA, it might take them a decade or more to be competitive again. That's why a team that doesn't need to be in that mode...shouldn't want to be in that mode, because your franchise rides on whether or not a couple guys bust or hit the big time.

QUOTE (Cknolls @ May 20, 2013 -> 01:39 PM) http://www.nationalreview.com/article/3487...an-kay-melchior I'm sure this was just a coincidence. Yeah, I know. Why on Earth would anyone ever think that an organization calling itself "True the Vote" might have lied on its statement when it declared that its "primary purpose" was not political?

QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ May 20, 2013 -> 11:12 AM) I thought that was weird too, unless there's some scheduling conflict Can't imagine they'd have let Miami book their arena for anything mid-playoffs.

As bad as the red sox starting pitching was last season, that's how as good they've been now.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 20, 2013 -> 08:38 AM) Star Trek was very good...would put it in the Iron Man 3 category, maybe just a tad bit better. Not quite the equal of its predecessor, but . Benjamin Cumberbatch is getting lots of rave reviews for his performance, "stealing" the show from the main cast and crew. For some reason, he reminded me a little bit of Michael Fassbender. And Rachael Taylor, hot hot hot with the short hair and shorter skirt, haha. (Extra bonus points for a gratuitous scene with her in her VS, and thank god for Australia). Are you talking about a different movie in the last line or are you talking about Alice Eve? Rachael Taylor was not In(to) Darkness.

At least it's not a shutout

QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 19, 2013 -> 05:03 PM) Cy Vargas Except, apparently, somehow for Keppinger.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 19, 2013 -> 04:33 PM) De Aza gets a pass way more than he should for his bad lapses. The problem remains...it ain't just him. Rios had a great stop on that Aybar hit but then missed the cutoff man, second run probably is held at third if he hits him.
-
QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ May 19, 2013 -> 04:26 PM) Who's cheering for him to fail? I'm just saying he IS failing and therefore I don't want him around. I'd obviously love to be wrong. I don't ever hope anyone on the White Sox fails. "Hopefully never to return". Certainly seems like it to me.
-
QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 19, 2013 -> 04:24 PM) De Aza sleeping yet again. Seemed to me more them having him played poorly, way around the other way, than sleeping. Another missed cutoff man though.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 19, 2013 -> 04:16 PM) Something needs to be done about his lack of focus on the field. This one was just at the plate. Was more amusing than anything.

QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ May 19, 2013 -> 03:49 PM) Dominated the league?! OK, in the 13 innings that he pitched. I'm thinking he was a fluke last year. Yeah, he dominated hitters but it was a very small sample size. He's not dominating any one this year, although again, small sample size. Obviously he's been terrible this year, but that's no reason to hope he continues to fail and is tossed aside. It'd be, um, more than a little nice if he could succeed. Why someone would cheer for a player to fail, go away, and never come back because of a few months of struggles is baffling to me.

De Aza with the brain cramp
