  1. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ May 22, 2013 -> 03:44 PM) Is there even anybody on the 40 that fits that category? No. If the other thread is accurate, the only guy on normal rest right now is Spencer Arroyo.
  2. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ May 22, 2013 -> 02:53 PM) I thought all the Rose mockery will stop now since we mostly likely seen his last days in a suit He's (bleep)ing earned it.
  3. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ May 22, 2013 -> 02:39 PM) I don't know if you know how good Kyrie Irving is, but he is a franchise PG by all means. Would you draft Burke if you are the Bulls and you have Derrick Rose already? (I dunno, there's a chance Rose may retire rather than risk his knee again....)
  4. QUOTE (Jake @ May 22, 2013 -> 02:23 PM) It probably isn't Noel That's not an answer. If there's no top line scorer in the draft, but there is a top line defender...
  5. QUOTE (Jake @ May 22, 2013 -> 02:10 PM) I understand the sentiment that you would like to get a player that at least has the talent/ceiling to carry the team offensively with the number 1 pick Does that player even exist in this draft?
  6. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 22, 2013 -> 01:48 PM) Is it? Wade actually almost fell to the Bulls at 7, but Pat Riley decided on his treadmill the day of the draft that he liked Wade enough to take him. While a lot of people saw Wade becoming a spectacular player, plenty more did not. That was one Helluva draft on paper going in, and it's lived up to the Hype. Where would Hinrich go in a draft like this? Am I right in thinking he'd be on the same level with Burke?
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 22, 2013 -> 01:30 PM) By that definition the federal government is a legal fiction. You're right. Corporations cannot exist if the Federal Government does not exist, just as a Federal Government cannot exist if the Federal Government does not exist.
  8. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 22, 2013 -> 01:01 PM) That is still a bad team. There's talent there again, but it's a very bad team. They have the makings of a decent lineup, but they don't have the pitching right now.
  9. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ May 22, 2013 -> 11:28 AM) I cannot stand how he retweets any tweet with his name in it. To me, he seems like a good kid, he just loves the attention a little too much and doesn't handle it right. Just so it's said...that's a whole lot to read into the twitter habits of a 19 year old.
  10. QUOTE (Lillian @ May 22, 2013 -> 09:12 AM) There is the obvious problem with having 4 lefties in the starting rotation. That might work if they were all really great. So far, it would appear that only Sale and Quintana are of that caliber, and we're not really sure about the latter. Axelrod provides better balance in the rotation, and seems capable of filling the role of fifth starter. The bullpen could really use a better left handed set up man. Thornton just isn't the same since he lost a couple of miles an hour off his heater. I'm very nervous when Thornton is facing right handed hitters, aren't you? Why wouldn't it be feasible to see if Santiago could take his place and relegate Thornton to a LOOGY? I get why traditionally 4 lefties in a rotation might be seen as a problem, but really, these guys wouldn't be in the big leagues if they couldn't get righties out and their stuff is quite different one from the other.
  11. QUOTE (Brian @ May 22, 2013 -> 09:06 AM) Even looking for non Apple recommendations. Personally, if I were looking for a computer to "Just use for basic stuff at home", I'd steer away from Apple. They're worth the money if you make heavy use of them for work or school or whatever, but you can get a cheap laptop at Best Buy or Amazon for 1/3 the price. The Cheapest Macbook is $1000, a cheap laptop on sale at one of those places will be $300-$400. You'll have to put up with Windows 8 for now, and they're not going to be as reliable as a mac, but for "Basic stuff", presumably meaning maybe a few microsoft applications and going online, I'd go for the cheap one. Even if it breaks down in 2 years, the replacement cost would be so low that it'd be cheaper to buy 2 of those than to buy a single macbook.
  12. QUOTE (Brian @ May 21, 2013 -> 11:37 PM) In the market for new laptop. I'm done with Dell. Looking at Macs. Suggestions? Just use it for basic stuff at home. With macs, you don't have a whole lot of options. Just look through Apple's website, you'll see what they have available in a few minutes.
  13. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ May 22, 2013 -> 08:17 AM) Not sure how much it really matters, but it's still nice to see Charlotte fall to 4th. Yup. Anything that keeps them from getting a person who can put them into playoff contention the next year or two is good for the Bullsl
  14. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ May 22, 2013 -> 01:02 AM) Hit for the cycle with 5 RBI's. What's the most times anyone has hit for the cycle in a career? He's got the makeup to blow whatever the record for that is away.
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 21, 2013 -> 09:02 PM) Wait a second....that would mean Santiago's pitching on just three day's rest? Yes. He only lasted 3.1 innings last time out though.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ May 21, 2013 -> 08:45 PM) Please be no big deal Hector didn't last 4 innings his last time out, there's an extra pitcher coming up from the minors to make a start, Sale's velocity has been even better the last couple outings, I'm going with "giving him a break".
  17. Yeah the warning was issued at 3:00 local time...wasn't the tornado entering the City Limits at about 3:15? That's the timeline I saw yesterday. It was on the ground for about 45 minutes total IIRC, spent the last 30 minutes crossing the city then petered out as it hit a lake if I saw an accurate track.
  18. Except for the guy going on 3 days rest, that would sound awfully convenient with another pitcher coming up from the minors.
  19. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 21, 2013 -> 04:06 PM) I disagree...I don't think Apple is the only company smart enough to find these loopholes...in fact, the article specifically states that. It is just more glaring in the case of Apple because they make so much damn money to shelter in the first place. What we ought to recognize is that our tax code is so ridiculously complex that it becomes impossible to maintain and manage. This is not exclusive to our tax code, btw. Apple is not too smart to find them now...but what about a company of 10 people started in a garage in california a few years ago that could come up with the next big thing? They have to go against a behemoth that can artificially keep its price down by creating fake overseas shell corporations.
  20. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 21, 2013 -> 03:47 PM) Oh brother What we ought to actually recognize is that a rigged system like this has a good chance of preventing the rise of the next Apple. Rigging the system in favor of companies that already exist disadvantages companies that aren't big enough to afford their own loophole.
  21. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 21, 2013 -> 03:04 PM) And this is Apple's fault? They could always tell their lobbyists to start supporting a sensible campaign finance system.
  22. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 21, 2013 -> 01:53 PM) Of course they employ lobbyists to protect their interest...this is how capitalism works...you are well aware of this...the legislators are still the ones responsible for ultimately signing legislation which protects the interests of the nation... Do you really believe that legislators are crafting legislation which protects the best interests of the nation or are they crafting legislation which protects their personal best interests, reflecting in part the actual voters they have to face and in part the people who pay for their campaigns?
  23. QUOTE (farmteam @ May 21, 2013 -> 11:49 AM) Agreed; also, for those who have a problem with this (myself included), the anger should be directed at those making the rules, not at Apple. Does a company like Apple also employ lobbyists who assist in making rules with loopholes they can drive a truck through?
  24. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 21, 2013 -> 10:12 AM) That's the kind of s*** that needs to be fixed instead of raising taxes on the middle/lower class. Communist.
  25. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 21, 2013 -> 08:55 AM) He was on Opening Day, yes. Not sure about today. Just as you can't over-read that .370 AVG in B-Ham, you can't panic too much about his current hitting in AAA as a 21 year old. Give it time. Likely they won't have to make a decision on him until the offseason any way, in terms of whether or not he's ready for the majors. If he's still a 21 year old...it's not a bad thing for a 22 year old to be repeating AAA.
