  1. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jan 26, 2013 -> 01:37 PM) Aww...but shovng things in peoples faces is so much fun. Right now our depth at the pg and sg position is a huge strength for us...so I dont view it in terms of oh hinrich is the worst starting pg in the league. Hes a contributer to a team that still looks like one of the best in the league even with our two best players out with injury. Time to give kirk and nate their props. Theyve been playing exellent. Were 26-16 I have zero complaints about Nate and have been legitimately impressed by his year. I believe I've said so. Kirk has really disappointed me this year until just the last few games. I'll give him props when he makes this into a trend.
  2. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 26, 2013 -> 12:56 PM) Maybe so, but the choice isn't Lucas or Abrams edit but at least it's not Michael Bay OMG! A science fiction movie stretched the truth about things like time travel and physics! Panic!
  3. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jan 26, 2013 -> 12:20 PM) Him and Nate did. Our second and third string pgs be beasting. Making all the people here who hated the pick up of these two in the offseason look silly. Bulls making all the nancies who cried about tanking look silly. Raise your hand if you wanted the bulls to tank. Dont be scurred Hinrich has still, overall, been terrible. Talk to me if he keeps this performance up through February and stays healthy.
  4. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jan 26, 2013 -> 11:55 AM) I never really pay to much attention to anything said at these things. It's always positive and that player X is definitely gonna rebound; player Y is fully healthy now and that's why he struggled last year; and player Z has looked great in the cage or the field. We all know that Hahn is just spewing stuff to make the fans happy and to give positive encouragement to the players. Honestly, I am not sure it's worth to even read Hahn's comments as they will tell you nothing. Bah, if you can't let yourself get excited about the arrival of spring training, you're too down. We're back in the race and tied for the division lead! And the weather will be getting warmer!
  5. QUOTE (Jake @ Jan 25, 2013 -> 10:34 PM) Reid is fairly capable of strong arming but I don't think he had the votes for a major reform here. At the very least...he was incredibly close, by all accounts.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 26, 2013 -> 11:20 AM) Percentage points. Seriously, is it that confusing? What else would it be? So that means the new sales are up by > a factor of 2? "Hundreds of percentage points" = more than doubled?
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 26, 2013 -> 11:20 AM) He was talking about retirement at Soxfest last night. I'm sure that he was asked about it.
  8. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jan 26, 2013 -> 11:09 AM) We really gonna act like Kirk Hinrich didnt score 25 points on 5 of 6 shooting from three yesterday? Avg double double for the season confirmed Huh? Kirk's season average is 7 ppg, 5 apg, 2.7 rpg.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 25, 2013 -> 11:02 PM) 100's of points increase, 90+% season ticket renewal rate, 99+% renewal for the most expensive seats. How is that vague? I'll back marty up here a bit...what does "Points" mean?
  10. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 26, 2013 -> 08:15 AM) Does that mean he's going to be Jesus again? If he wants to keep playing another year or two, he's playing for a contract this year, so he'd even have more motivation to start the season off in prime shape.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 25, 2013 -> 11:17 PM) Probably no more hitters to be added to the '13 line up. http://www.csnchicago.com/baseball-chicago...mp;feedID=10338 Doesn't rule out bench improvements and that's the biggest need anywya.
  12. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 25, 2013 -> 04:05 PM) There were many White Sox who were brutal down the stretch. What he gets to ignore is that the more games he has to say don't matter, the fewer games there would have been for the mighty Juan Pierre to make a difference.
  13. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 25, 2013 -> 03:26 PM) A .730 OPS is "monster"? When we're talking about replacing him with Juan Pierre....kinda.
  14. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jan 25, 2013 -> 02:53 PM) Dick Allen I'd really like to meet you at a game this year so we can bury your hatchet. That's hot.
  15. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 25, 2013 -> 02:25 PM) LOL. Do they track sudafed purchases? Does everyone have to register for it? If you want to buy them, yeah. At least here they do. I go buy 30 boxes of Sudafed, I'm going to jail.
  16. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 25, 2013 -> 02:19 PM) Log all phone calls! Log all emails! There's gotta be useful information in there. f*** it! The ends justify the means! Go to a Walgreens and try to buy 30 boxes of Sudafed.
  17. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jan 25, 2013 -> 01:39 PM) So you just give up on the pitch the rest of the way? His screwball can be a serious weapon, especially if he's going to start or pitch long-relief. When a guy is in the closer's role and he has a pitch that is being hammered? Yeah, you stop throwing that pitch. If you have a problem with that...then the guy can't be in the closer's role.
  18. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jan 25, 2013 -> 01:29 PM) Yeah, he did mention that he may be needed in the rotation if Danks isn't ready to start the season. Another interesting thing Santiago said, unrelated to his potential role, was how AJ didn't call his screwball much, while Flowers would call for it a lot and how he wants his pitchers to use their entire arsenal. Based on the interview, you could easily tell that he preferred throwing to Flowers last year and I'm starting to think we might see Santiago make some serious strides in 2013. Trouble with him throwing the screwball, particularly early in the season was...it wasn't a very good pitch. People hammered that ball early in the year.
  19. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jan 25, 2013 -> 01:11 PM) Santiago was interviewed on 670 this morning and seemed very confident he'd be on the team. He also implied that Cooper wants to use him in a variety of roles, sometimes as a long-man and sometimes as a specialist. Obviously this could just be a young pitcher hoping he starts the year in the majors and not the minors, but to me it sounded like he's been told he's part of the big league mix by coaching staff or front office. That would be the only real obvious reason for him to back out of the WBC, if he's been explicitly told there's a role for him.
  20. QUOTE (Cknolls @ Jan 25, 2013 -> 12:11 PM) Weren't three R's gerrymandered out of their seats right here in Illinois? Both sides do it. It seems like this is an issue because the northern states are losing population and electoral votes to the south and they don't like it. If the northern states did more to keep their populace from moving they would be less prone to whining. Hey I realize I live in a corrupt state that does nothing to face up to its problems. And they will replace this tool with another tool who has as her father, the most corrupt politician to ever be elected. But hey its the Chicago Way, even if its Springfield. Yes, both sides do some Gerrymandering, but at this point, no one has had the cojones to try to take the presidency through gerrymandering. And if you want to say who's doing better...the Democrats received more than 1 million more votes than the Republicans for the House last election, nationwide, yet the Republicans maintained a very large majority.
  21. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 25, 2013 -> 11:47 AM) wasnt the Tebow trademarked? Yes
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 25, 2013 -> 11:09 AM) I imagine he will be a starter at Charlotte. Cooper has been so insistent on trying to make him a reliever from the moment he was acquired that i have to imagine that's what they'll do with him
  23. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 25, 2013 -> 10:57 AM) Researching public and health policy as it relates to guns is a "no-win" for the NRA, ergo their efforts to block such research from ever happening are justified? Just remember, if anything they ever said about guns being useful in keeping people safe was true...they'd be funding enormous amounts of research on their own to make that case. They'd want the government doing that research. They're not dumb. They know the answer is going to be "you're 10x safer if you're unarmed". They'd rather not have the answer.
  24. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 25, 2013 -> 10:49 AM) You need FBI records and criminal records, both available publicly. What else would you need? Actually the government has also banned the FBI from collecting and sharing most types of data involving guns. They can keep the most general statistics (like total number of incidents) but they can barely record anything else and they're limited in what they can share with even local law enforcement.
