200 innings for John Danks.

QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Feb 1, 2013 -> 10:32 AM) Yeah, I'm sure the Ravens make it a policy to only include players who are pro LGBT... Ayanbadejo has helped give them a solid reputation on that. But the real answer would be...if you're going to be a bigot, then shut up. I can kinda get a 24 year old in a football environment winding up with a talking to after spouting off on the radio, but after a couple different hits on the topic, they've really stepped up and shown what their locker room thinks of their own city.
-
A while back, a bunch of the 49ers players participated in one of the "It gets better" anti-LGBT-bullying videos. After their gay bashing CB came out, they were asked about that video by the USA Today, and 2 of the players in it denied ever participating or claimed they didn't know what they were doing or claimed it was just a generic anti-bullying video. F*** it. Go Ravens.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 31, 2013 -> 09:48 PM) I like the idea, but I am not sure if Rios is worth nearly that much. He's not. Not even close.

Do I want to admit that the only activity I haven't already completed on the Star Trek: Into Darkness app would require me going to San Francisco?

QUOTE (Jake @ Jan 30, 2013 -> 12:30 PM) Tennessee's "Don't Say Gay" bill now includes a provision that requires parents of gay children to notify the school that their child is gay. Headscratcher. The guy who introduced this version: I left a very good tip at the restaurant that refused to seat him.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 31, 2013 -> 05:33 PM) There are a lot of conflicting reports. Israel is saying nothing. Rebels are saying that they (the Rebels) attacked the compound with rockets. I believe they are also confirming that Israel attacked something. Iran/Syria is saying that Israel destroyed the compound with attacks. American officials are confirming the report of an Israeli airstrike near Damascus.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 30, 2013 -> 10:23 PM) Anyone have Geico auto insurance? I have State Farm and my rate is too high for no reason. Geico quoted me much lower at same coverage. Also have Geico. Have filed and dealt with a claim through them. They were generally professional and fine while dealing with me, although the repair shop noted a few times how frustrating they get while dealing with Geico since they're slower than other companies at processing their direct bills.

QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jan 31, 2013 -> 01:19 PM) We have enough defense, we need offense in the draft. I actually have no problem with the bulls getting a defensive SG in the draft, as long as he's a better scoring threat than Ronnie Brewer was. It might even encourage them to get rid of Hinrich's money if possible. The other option is to try to fill it with another version of Korver or Hamilton, either a 3 point shooter or someone who might have something left in the tank, and I'd guess Thibs would be more likely to play a guy who he could count on for defense.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 30, 2013 -> 04:31 PM) You do know that ARod is most likely missing the season, right? August at the earliest Plus either 50 games suspended or 30 lbs lighter.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 30, 2013 -> 05:22 PM) BRO I WAS ONLY THERE FOR AMINORIP HE NEVER TOLD ME PINK CREAM WASNT AMINORIP YOU HAVE TO BELIEVE MY DAD! The only reason why a guy would go to these sketchy clinics is pretty obvious.

QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Jan 30, 2013 -> 08:52 AM) Yeah, I was gonna say something similar. We were just overly reliant on guys who were destined to fade in December, because they were either too young (Sale, Q) or too old (Paulie, AJ, Dunn). That doesn't seem like a pressure problem, just a team makeup problem. Sale, Q, Viciedo and Flowers are a year older now. Unfortunately, so are Konerko and Dunn. Either way, our pitching should be good and perhaps slightly less likely to falter down the stretch this year, unless you believe in the Verducci Correlation (effect is so very the wrong word). Another element in the guys wearing out was the weakness in the bench. I get why it happened...we traded a lot of the bench to replace injured starters, but that set the team up to be exhausted by the end.

2012-2013 NCAA Basketball thread

Lol Silver haired guy sitting next to Dakich stands up to tell after a foul. Dakich instinctively panics because his brain remembers Bobby Knight. -
QUOTE (ptatc @ Jan 29, 2013 -> 06:04 PM) It does contain a substance banned at a certain level. It naturally occurs in the body and does have PED effects if you take great quantities of it. This is why in the literature it doesn't show up as really having much effect. The quantities are too low. It's like the female swimmer in the 2000 olympics who claimed that a positive test was from a substance in her birth control pills. She was correct that the substance was there but to get the dosage level she would need to take 400 pills a day. Has anyone made any kind of statement about how much of this stuff Lewis used? If "rigorously controlled scientific studies" show no effects...what happens when you remove the control and down 50 times as much as the tested dose?

2012-2013 MLB off season tracker thread

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 29, 2013 -> 11:40 AM) Naturally. They are removing an obvious advantage a pitcher had, which directly influences the baserunner, thus, the baserunner will gain an advantage. It doesn't make it wrong. They haven't removed the ability for the pitcher to check on the runner - he just can't be nearly as deceptive now, which is good. If anyone really worried about it, it would work more often. -
Holy crap, man I've been busy the last couple days and this is a huge one. Yeah, Gio isn't linked directly yet, but the statements are in te article saying "if you were goig to this doctor you were there for steroids". I'm going to guess that it's no coincidence at all that MLB announced their new baseline testing right before this story came out. They probably knew this was about to break and that made it clear the union had no backing to disagree or say that the old testing had cleaned it up.

QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Jan 26, 2013 -> 06:51 PM) I don't think the technology carried the first 2 films. It's definitely possible to bring the original mood back from the first 2. Getting away from CGI would be a great start. Abrams is a big fan of the Star Wars universe. That's a good start. I like the selection of Arndt. He knows subtlety. I was just hoping they'd stay away from an established, blockbuster making director. Having Abrams work on Star Trek and Star Wars at the same time is going to be an annoyance for me. We have to listen to the same interview for the next 3, or so, years. Is Abrams actually signed on for any more Star Trek films? Few years ago I could swear I heard that everyone was on a 2 film contract.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jan 26, 2013 -> 07:58 PM) You can always use a public proxy server to get around that...or various other means. In case he doesn't say so himself...he's given the impression that his employer would not be particularly thrilled about him attempting to bypass their security provisions.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 26, 2013 -> 06:34 PM) The 3 of them blend into a blob of fecal matter. I can't distinguish any of them apart after all these years. The "romantic" blather on naboo in Episode 2 has to be acknowledged as uniquely terrible. Beyond anything else ever done.

2012-2013 MLB off season tracker thread

MLB will ban the fake to third, throw to first move. It will be a balk from now on. -
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 26, 2013 -> 05:40 PM) Of those 3, only Avengers seems like something safe to bring 7 year old kids to see. We're talking Disney and Star Wars here. Does Empire seem like a movie safe to bring 7 year olds to see? Battered skywalker getting his hand chopped off?

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jan 23, 2013 -> 12:47 AM) im not quite sure why this weighty task falls on me every year Because "Heads at the end of January" is the first person sober-enough to remember.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Jan 26, 2013 -> 03:12 PM) His defense is at an all-NBA level right now. Small sample size I know, but this is something that was always known about him. He's allowing something like .59 points per possession. It's not the defense that surprises me because I expected it, it's how confident and alert he looks on offense. That reminds me of Derrick Rose when he first started (no, I'm not comparing them - Butler is not and will never be Rose) Something tells me this is the answer to the question "Does Thibs know what he's doing trying to develop these young guys" or "Why doesn't he play them more, they might benefit from time on the court?" See you next year, Marcus Teague.
