QUOTE (greg775 @ May 30, 2012 -> 06:31 PM) That's a good post IMO. If Morel during a rehab game or 3 is 1-for-11, by no means should he come back up and do the same for the big league club. "1 for 11" would be too soonn to even consider. I wouldn't want him back if he were 8 for 11. I want a full 2 weeks or so of him legitimately hitting with no setbacks/flareups.

QUOTE (gatnom @ May 30, 2012 -> 05:56 PM) We sure do like to bait here at Soxtalk. But, you absolutely send him down. With how fragile our starters are, we need somebody in the minors to be ready to step in for a spot start. If he tears up AAA the whole year, then we have one nice cheap potential starter for next year waiting to take over a spot from either Floyd or Peavy.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 30, 2012 -> 06:31 PM) Hmmm....that'd be risky, but I'd probably be ok with that. Floyd for Youk + Cash? Figure out a way to get David Wright? Michael Young? I don't know, but if we can get a real solid 3B, this team will be very dangerous. The Mets have really no need for Gavin Floyd if they're trading Wright away, and the Rangers aren't going to "Help out another contender" (and I'm not sure you'd want Young at 3b anyway). I'd still hate to put Youkilis over at 3b and watch his body collapse more.

QUOTE (greg775 @ May 30, 2012 -> 05:46 PM) 2.) That makes sense, but how many at bats will Robin give Morel to see if he's "performing better?" I'm thinking that back problem isn't going away anytime soon Brent needs to really prove himself at AAA. He needs to be hitting like a guy who doens't belong there, like De Aza was doing the last year when he was blocked by Pierre or Quentin when he would murder the ball on a rehab stint. Hitting well over .300 with serious extra base power and no issues defensivelly. If he can't do that, then burn an option or re-start the clock on his rehab stint.

The 6 man rotation is a terrible idea for a team in contention. If you have to use Mr. Offday, or make use of the DL, or move a guy back and forth to give a starter some extra rest, I'd vastly prefer taht option.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 30, 2012 -> 05:30 PM) I'll never understand what the Padres were thinking in trading Rizzo for Cashner I think they saw something about Rizzo last year they really didn't like.

QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ May 30, 2012 -> 04:39 PM) He needs to stay down there for a couple weeks at least. If he looks competent during that span and Hudsons no longer having good abs like he has been then I wouldnt be opposed to bringing him back. Right now it sure is refreshing to have O-dog down there in the 9 hole working counts and not aggravating the hell outta me like "cant hit" brent As one of Brent's defenders, I absolutely agree with this. He can be on a rehab stint for like 20 days according to stuff I checked a while ago, so he needs to hit well enough that it looks like he clearly belongs at a higher level than Charlotte. If he struggles or doesn't earn a callup, then either DL him again and restart the rehab stint if he's still having back issues (which can be done), or burn an option year for him.

It cannot be easy or common to go into the Trop and sweep this Rays ballclub, not with their pitching staff.

QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ May 30, 2012 -> 04:05 PM) Is it just me or has Carlos Peña lost weight? Carlos Pena's body mass through his career has tracked well with increasing performance. He seemed to be much bigger and stronger when he put up that MVP caliber 2007 season. Take that with all the innuendo you want.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 30, 2012 -> 04:04 PM) Don't think for a second that he isn't communicating with the dugout. He could be just a bit down the tunnel.

Also had ball 4 in the strike zone.
-
ESPN mobile web has ball 3 right down the middle, thigh high.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 30, 2012 -> 03:53 PM) Oh man, if Rios doesn't come up big here, I have a feeling we lose this game. Big momentum shift, and I gots a bad feeling.... Momentum is only as good as the next pitcher up. Ours is named Addison Reed.

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ May 30, 2012 -> 03:52 PM) 50 pages and 137 users reading a day game game thread, what did I miss (sorry work nights, and sleep during the day) Ventura, Q tossed, De Aza hurt, the usual.
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 30, 2012 -> 03:17 PM) How bad is De Aza? Stupid work getting in the way of my game following. Hard to know, my guess is it'll be a nice bruise.
-
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 30, 2012 -> 03:02 PM) OK, so first, there is no beaning, unless it hit his head. Was he hit in the head? Second, that is a really low percentage shot - trying to hit a runner on the move in the legs with a pickoff throw? There is probably a 90% chance you miss and it goes into center field. And a 10% chance it hits him and does little or no harm. Seems hard to believe it was intentional, but, I didn't see it. Side of the knee, which resulted in him being taken out.
-
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 30, 2012 -> 02:59 PM) OK wait a second... I see talk here of a "pickoff beaning", and also a knee injury for ADA. Which is it? Or both? WTF??? Both. De Aza was at 2b, HOwell turned around, threw, plunked him in the side of the knee. Throw was no where near the bag.
-
QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ May 30, 2012 -> 02:57 PM) Buster Olney's last tweet insinuates he thinks the pickoff beaning may have been intentional too
-
QUOTE (fathom @ May 30, 2012 -> 02:52 PM) ADA gonna be ok? Unless he was carried off, the worst it could be is a bruise.
-
QUOTE (kapzk @ May 30, 2012 -> 02:45 PM) He didnt he also talk some s*** about Obama QUOTE (chw42 @ May 30, 2012 -> 02:46 PM) I think so, I don't remember anything specific though. He's a birther idiot.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 30, 2012 -> 02:45 PM) He's hitting .354 with 8 homers and 24 RBI this month. Not counting today's damage, .963 OPS for the month.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 30, 2012 -> 02:44 PM) I had no problem with the Aj HBP. Hell, they took the risk of hitting a guy in the middle of our order with RISP already.
-
QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 30, 2012 -> 02:39 PM) No Morel equals more offense. (Hudson has a .655 OPS with the Sox coming in to today. That's an improvement on a guy with a bad back clearly, but not the real key).

Hey, even found the right thread.
