  1. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ May 28, 2012 -> 07:57 PM) 2 and 0 against pitchers with out arms. Thats what happens when you go to Wrigley.
  2. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 28, 2012 -> 07:14 PM) We had nothing coming through the system the past few years, yet produced this trio. Which is something of a trend for the Sox. In 2007, they had nothing in the system, they had no future, then Quentin, Danks, and Floyd snapped off seasons that carried them to the playoffs. One might think that the Sox's system is being regularly underrated based on this pattern. I believe the Sox have the most WAR out of their 2008-2010 drafts out of anyone in baseball.
  3. QUOTE (Marty34 @ May 28, 2012 -> 07:20 PM) That is true, but the last three years at the big league level yielded no post-season appearances. We could have used some help. This, of course, is not for lack of talent at the big league level.
  4. QUOTE (Marty34 @ May 28, 2012 -> 07:04 PM) They better be because there isn't much following them. Just like the last few years.
  5. The remarkable thing of course, is that this cost-controlled, impact talent was being built up while the Sox had the worst farm system in the big leagues for a number of years. And none of it was really acquired in firesale type deals.
  6. I think what the Rays are doing is revolutionary.
  7. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ May 28, 2012 -> 06:34 PM) Because nobody hits Chris Sale. What would happen if Sale had to face Pauly? You've seen the Avengers? That scene when Thor's hammer strikes Captain America's shield and there is an enormous burst of light and gigantic shockwave?
  8. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 28, 2012 -> 06:01 PM) Especially considering lefties hit Sale better than righties. It's pretty comparable actually.
  9. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 28, 2012 -> 06:03 PM) Carlos Pena. He's easily their biggest power threat. Pena is hitting .188 with a .325 OBP off of lefties, .668 OPS. Scott is hitting .161, .518 OPS off of lefties. Joyce has an OPS of 1.030 against righties and .760 against lefties.
  10. Cleveland up 6-4 on the Royals right now.
  11. That is a pretty darn good Memorial Day Sale.
  12. That was highly enjoyable. Did Cleveland lose?
  13. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 28, 2012 -> 05:45 PM) DNA tests have recently revealed that Brent Morel is Brian Balta's younger brother. If Morel is that big of a world of warcraft fan, that could explain the back trouble...
  14. "You get a piece of it, you can rename it".
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 28, 2012 -> 05:43 PM) Threw the first one by him. And the 2nd.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ May 28, 2012 -> 05:43 PM) Careful on the fastballs here! Threw the first one by him.
  17. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ May 28, 2012 -> 05:41 PM) Who are you quoting ? I never said the outside half . I said he was swinging at too many pitches off the plate . He wasn't covering those pitches he wasn't touching them . They just kept pitching him outside because he couldn't hit them and couldn't lay off them. Because anythign that was thrown on the outer half, he had to commit early on it because he couldn't cover that side of the plate at all. Anything on the outer half he was committing early and just trying to tap it foul, and so he coudln't give himself time to judge where it was.
  18. Reed has both righties and lefties hitting .220-ish against him, but 7 BB in 14 innings is really high for him. He had 1 BB in 7 innings in the bigs last year, and at most 14 BB in 78 innings in the minors.
  19. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 28, 2012 -> 05:34 PM) Yeah..."Brent is going to make you guys want to forget these posts if he can ever get healthy..." Here's the post I wrote that in reply to: QUOTE (Baron @ May 28, 2012 -> 05:01 PM) Its so nice not to have Morel at 3rd....but thatll be short lived Im sure When someone else decides that everything Orlando does is a good reason to rip Morel, I can't respond?
  20. Yowza, that's how a curve can make a guy look bad.
  21. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 28, 2012 -> 05:32 PM) That's fine...you can make any arguments you want...but I don't think it needs to go so far as you giving a hard time to people happy to see ODawg doing well... I did that?
  22. QUOTE (Jake @ May 28, 2012 -> 05:29 PM) @ Morel talk but what explains an entire season of (at best) mediocrity? Being a rookie and really not getting a whole lot of appropriate feedback on his hitting style? He said in the offseason something along the lines of having been scared of doing something wrong because he'd know he'd get taken out/benched if that happened, so he just tried not to strike out rather than did what he shoudl have been doing. And he was right, every time he did something right, Vizquel would need his at bats the next day.
  23. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 28, 2012 -> 05:27 PM) Oh I remember your posts...but the thing is, you've defended him unconditionally for two years...so it's just an bit difficult to buy into this...I mean, when a guy goes as bad as Morel, it could be almost anything...it changes on a daily basis. How's this then...I need him to be legitimately back to hitting at Charlotte before we call him back up, and if that means burning an option, I'd rather have that happen than see him up again until he can resume tearing the cover off the ball in AAA?
