  1. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ May 28, 2012 -> 02:10 PM) I wish we'd get Danks2 up and get rid of that worthless bum Fukodome. Unless we think Danks is going to take over a starting job, I'd rather him take one more full year in AAA. We can use him as the cheap backup replacement next year.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ May 28, 2012 -> 02:12 PM) Well yeah, of course for an entire season. However, for a stretch of games, this is up there with the 2006 run when the Sox killed the Cardinals, the grand slams vs Astros, etc. I think the reason I enjoy now so much is cause it all seemingly started with the Konerko HBP, and that the two young guys in Beckham and Viciedo have played an important role in beating 3 of our 4 biggest rivals. If I just exclude any part of 05...then my favorite "10 or so game stretch" is the Yankees/Indians/Yankees/Indians beatdown from 2000.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ May 28, 2012 -> 01:53 PM) The last 10 days have been about the most fun I've ever had watching the White Sox. 2005 and it ain't close. Even regular season games.
  4. QUOTE (zenryan @ May 28, 2012 -> 01:22 PM) So its Memorial Day and there isnt any day games on national tv other than MLB Network? WGN is showing AAA baseball, they have the Padres/Cubs later today.
  5. I get what y'all are saying, just worry that some of the guys might get burnt out at some point down the stretch. Then again, outside of 1b/C, the legs are pretty young in that lineup.
  6. QUOTE (ScottyDo @ May 28, 2012 -> 12:20 PM) Someone else brought this up...we think their formula is largely influenced by run differential, which is consistent with the ESPN standings, where we're the only team in the Central with a green number. Also right now, ESPN's programs think the ChiSox have had a more difficult schedule than anyone else in the AL Central (even including the fact that the AL Central teams aren't blowing up the league).
  7. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ May 28, 2012 -> 10:44 AM) Baseball is a game of streaks. Some are very odd and seem unreal. There will be a time when this time can't buy a hit. You wonder when age is going to catch up to PK and AJ when they are at bat. Maybe the pitching is getting worse in baseball. No one who has watched the last 3 years of baseball would say this.
  8. QUOTE (kapkomet @ May 27, 2012 -> 10:43 PM) Presumed innocent... only if it justifies your side of the law. Seriously, either give me some report of the kid being involved in a break in or go away, because that's a claim I never saw.
  9. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ May 27, 2012 -> 10:21 PM) You're paying for a service. Of course you should be discounted if you pick the food up yourself. Great. So why do you get a carry out discount and then not have to pay the delivery fee? Pick one.
  10. QUOTE (mr_genius @ May 27, 2012 -> 09:32 PM) Doesn't surprise me. Drug dealing at school, breaking into houses, involved in illegal underground street fighting, attacking Zim and bashing his head in the cement; all pieces of the puzzle. Where did this one come from?
  11. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 27, 2012 -> 09:01 PM) They shouldn't have traded Melky Cabrera for Sanchez. Hosmer's coming around (still has a horrific BABIP), and Gordon's having a down season so far, but Moustakas has actually made significant progress from how bad he looked last season. Butler's evolved into one of the best hitters in the AL, as predicted for many years by Harrelson and many others. Melky Cabrera's actually leading MLB in hits.
  12. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ May 27, 2012 -> 08:56 PM) The delivery fee covers the cost of providing the service i.e. gas/car. The fee is bare minimum so the restaurant/driver aren't losing money by bringing your food to your door. The delivery guy's still providing a similar service to the waiter, but with costs coming out of their pocket. Really, delivery is a pretty premium service in itself. Personally, I have no problem paying a guy $10 (fee and tip) and even more if it's a big order or the delivery was extremely fast. My counterpoint though is that they already offer extra discounts for people taking carryout orders, not counting the delivery fee, so I feel like they're charging the price of bringing food to the door at least 2 times based on that. Seriously, watch their ads, they advertise "$10 carryout pizzas" all the time, or deals like that. And then I'm expected to tip beyond that? That said, i definitely tipped when I ordered on Super bowl Sunday and it arrived in 30 minutes.
  13. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 27, 2012 -> 08:53 PM) Reminds everyone to sit down, relax, strap it down and enjoy the game with an ice-cold brew. Are you an advertising exec putting subliminal messages into SoxTalk? I think you have a great idea here and I'm going to go have another beer.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 27, 2012 -> 08:53 PM) Googling "Trayvon Martin fight video" gives you assloads of hits. The only thing I found was articles on a youtube video that was pulled and a familial denial of it having being him, with no confirmation that it was and no obvious major media sources? Most of the links that search provides relate to him fighting zimmerman.
  15. QUOTE (Tex @ May 27, 2012 -> 08:43 PM) If you are at a restaurant and see a "waiter fee" of $3 *and* a note that it does not go to the waiter and you should tip anyways, what would you think? Wow, thanks Tex, for once you've summed up my response perfectly.
  16. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ May 27, 2012 -> 08:32 PM) It said he did the ridalongs a year ago. He then saw how badthey were and became a pain in the butt to them. Just curious, why no mention of the fight club video Travon was in? Because I didn't see the article and you didn't provide a link? Edit: And because googling "Martin fight" and "Martin Video" provides me nothing so I don't know where to look?
  17. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 27, 2012 -> 08:07 PM) How do we know they are not merely following Paulie's lead more than Manto's? Paul Konerko was here and just as professional of a hitter last year. The only things that changed are a new hitting coach and a new manager.
  18. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ May 27, 2012 -> 06:06 PM) I know Manto is getting a lot of praise now but I really feel like these hitters on the Sox are learning from Konerko. Why couldn't they do this the last couple years?
  19. QUOTE (mr_genius @ May 27, 2012 -> 07:14 PM) well, i think it's pretty clear now. I have reviewed the facts and Zim is obviously innocent. Must you really do this?
  20. QUOTE (Tex @ May 27, 2012 -> 06:49 PM) I guess I was confused, I thought it had been established that he was well known to the police force and a pain in the ass to them. And yet they're letting him ride along with them and indulging his wannabe fantasy?
  21. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ May 27, 2012 -> 05:13 PM) It doesn't appear to be a good demonstration of pitching this series on both sides. This really has been a crazy series, at least if you throw the weather in. Wind on Friday, now the heat.
