Hamilton should actually be ready to return Friday, and hey, it's the Piston's! Good for him. MVP did some "shooting" of some sort before the game last night.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 28, 2012 -> 11:51 PM) Best move Kenny Williams has ever made. Totally disagreed but then still can remember where I was in October 2005.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 29, 2012 -> 07:31 AM) Cespedes with his first major league homer, looked to be a hanging breaking ball. 2 extra base hits, 2 RBi in his first 2 games.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 29, 2012 -> 08:47 AM) Cash is not the same as franchise value. What this definitely does do is minimize the impact of any debt that the team is currently holding, and give a team much more leeway to go into debt if they think it can improve revenues. The Sox have one of the smallest debt loads in the league. If they lose money in some season, the assets balanced against it are even greater.

QUOTE (mr_genius @ Mar 28, 2012 -> 10:41 PM) it's not necessary. Really, without the Court having written this new standard by which they're interpreting Congress can't do that, you'd have written a completely different law. No part of it would have been constructed that way. The author isn't kidding...the mandate is essential to that bill. The bill doesn't exist without that premise.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Mar 28, 2012 -> 10:46 PM) Balta, That is interesting. The first thing I tried to see was his nose, the second was blood spatter (couldnt find any) and the third was the back of his head. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Mar 28, 2012 -> 11:09 PM) Paramedics treated him at the scene, but he refused to go to the hospital for further treatment. I'm sure the details are in their (the emts) medical reports. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Mar 28, 2012 -> 11:10 PM) Y2hh, I agree the video isnt conclusive, but as of now its the only primary evidence I have. What is more interesting is that the police wanted to charge him with manslaughter. All of these statements are why that video never should have been released, because everyone's going to try to draw some conclusion from his behavior there (does he look like he's concussed? Is he bleeding badly? Bandaged? No? Guilty!) and really there's no context to anything, so honestly you shouldn't draw any conclusion from it, but it's now officially all we have.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Mar 28, 2012 -> 11:12 PM) Yea, I read that yesterday at some point, have to agree with you at the moment, sounds like the prosecutor didn't want a case that wasn't a sure win. And you're forgetting...the law explicitly says that you can't arrest unless you basically know it's a slam-dunk case. Not sure exactly what that translates to for a prosecutor, but I have to imagine there's some sort of liability/enforcement mechanism for that clause.

QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Mar 29, 2012 -> 12:45 AM) Next year is in Atlanta. Ticket lottery is open now, btw. http://www.ncaa.com/mbbtickets Any idea how easily moveable those tickets are if you enter, get them, and can't go?

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Mar 29, 2012 -> 02:20 AM) Right, which was one of the reasons I feel like they could be the 2nd seed even without Rose... maybe if not 2nd in the top 4. But cmon we have no chance vs the Heat in a series no Rose. Actually they do have a chance. If Lebron and Rose are both out.

This police department isn't used to having to deal with people asking for leaks. Here's video, provided by ABC News, of Zimmerman arriving at the police station shortly after teh shooting. That shouldn't have been released. But hey, the guy seems in decent condition.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Mar 28, 2012 -> 09:25 PM) PK has everyone giving tribute to Jobu. Well, they are pretty good at hitting straight ball.

Justice Scalia does not know that the deal Ben Nelson tried to negotiate that offered Nebraska extra funding, the so-called "Cornhusker kickback", was removed before passage.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 28, 2012 -> 09:08 PM) Was it Borchard or Mark McGwire with the longest homer? Dan Pasqua? Currently its Borchard.

Today they made it plausibly seem that the 5 might step out and just outright declare Medicaid unconstitutional.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Mar 28, 2012 -> 02:27 PM) I agree that it is better to have it universally in the regular season and playoffs, but I just don't like the rule itself. Either make it a pure sudden-death, or give each team a possession. Period. I like the rule as-is.

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Mar 28, 2012 -> 08:45 PM) I feel like the Bulls even without Rose can beat anyone in the East except the Heat obviously. The only team that might give them trouble would be Orlando. The Pacers would also put at least 2 players down with injuries, that would be very tough.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 28, 2012 -> 04:35 PM) Wait, what? I must have missed something here. Are you saying that there are words in the legislation that SPECIFICALLY says that if the courts strike down the mandate, the rest of the legislation becomes null and void? Might be a little different from what I said earlier, but here's the full text and story. The House initially passed a version including a "Severability" clause, saying that this part of the bill could be struck down without the rest of the bill going down and spelling out how that would work. The Senate then actively removed that clause and the House passed that version which actively removed that clause when they passed the reconciliation bill. And it was replaced with this pair of statements directly stating: The bill itself says that losing that portion would "Undercut" the bill and that the requirement is "essential". If there is such a thing as legislative intent, it's right there. (More details in the full version at link).

QUOTE (sunofgold @ Mar 28, 2012 -> 04:30 PM) Don't think that we use off days to skip a starter. Like sometimes you skip your fifth starter as long as you don't have five games in a row without an offday. And sometime you can skip a starter turn b/c of rainouts/snowouts in April. I think that is good especially in the beginning of the season. I know that guys usually like to pitch every 5th day but with Sale trying to get into the groove and Peavy trying to start healthy..this should be a good rotation. And we have some insurance in our pen and/or AAA with Axelrod, Stewart, and eventually...hopefully soon Molina. We've got 3 guys in the rotation who are at least question marks in terms of how many innings they can take, and a 7 man bullpen out of the gate (and I think very few april offdays). They might skip starts for Sale in June-on when his arm does start tiring out, and if Humber or Peavy obviously start breakidn down after that point they might do that, but they're not going to skip a start on "Sale" and wind up having it mean that Peavy and Humber have to go on normal rest when they could get an extra offday.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 28, 2012 -> 04:27 PM) "some" being you. Your interperetation is bizarre to me. I'd prefer that SCOTUS narrowly address problems in broader legislation, as opposed to trying to re-legislate, which in my view is truly "activist". Isn't "Declaring that it's unconstitutional for Congress to say that if one part of a bill goes down the whole bill must go down" basically creating new legislation? Congress passed this thing and said specifically that the mandate is not severable. I can't imagine what Constitutional standard the court could use to declare that "Congress has no right to declare that one part of the bill relies on another part".
