  1. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 23, 2012 -> 08:58 AM) Nice...too bad it was his own kicker I don't think icing a kicker is ever a great idea...eventually it's going to come back to burn you. Once instance in which I do think it's a good idea is in windy conditions so that your own kicker can see where the ball will go on a longer kick. Of course, there is always the chance he'll drill that kick and miss the next, which obviously is what happened to Garrett. If you want the stats, they say that icing the kicker is a slight disadvantage in almost all circumstances. I'd bet that most of the stats though are because kickers are expecting to be iced these days.
  2. I have no idea how a team can be 0/10 on third down and yet still in a playoff game.
  3. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 22, 2012 -> 09:44 PM) Conference Championship Sunday tends to usually disappoint, but this has been an outstanding day of football. Can we get the BW3's guy to hit everyone with sprinklers until we're in OT?
  4. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jan 22, 2012 -> 08:09 PM) Also, there is no such thing as a speed position in baseball. Center Field, at least at some level?
  5. Stellar catch by Cruz on a really really tough throw.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 22, 2012 -> 07:16 PM) Well, Cutler's sperm is healthy I guess that's what happens when he can't use his hand or play football for a few months.
  7. You cannot get yourself an unsportsmanlike flag in a championship game. You just can't do it.
  8. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jan 22, 2012 -> 06:58 PM) Yeah I don't get it, Papa Johns isn't anything amazing but they are better than majority of the other chains. I always liked them but haven't eaten there in a couple years because of 2 straight times they screwed up my order. I typically can get a good quality pizza for 1/3 that price at Aldi, and it's fresh when I take it out of the oven.
  9. Before this keeps going...just a note...the guy is dead...This is the kind of thread that will provoke some emotional reactions if people decide to push things. That's all I'll say for now, just stop and think whether a particular post will get under someone's skin excessively because of the circumstances.
  10. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jan 22, 2012 -> 06:46 PM) I don't know about that, no doubt we would've made the playoffs but I don't think we would've beaten NO, NY or GB. The way the Bears were playing, they could have stood toe to toe with any of these teams. Whether they would have beaten them I don't know. But I would have put a lot of money on the Bears beating the Packers in week 16. That was just going to happen.
  11. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 22, 2012 -> 06:40 PM) I think he's had a "left shoulder injury" for the last month or two HE actually did miss a practice this week, so I'd believe that something was really bothering him. Of course if Brady is actually hurt and you're QB sneaking with him twice, that is sorta suicidal.
  12. QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Jan 22, 2012 -> 06:31 PM) Brady sounded pretty somber during the AFC trophy presentation. He knows he didn't play well today. "I sucked pretty bad today." he said. Sounds like he feels he dodged a bullet. If they go on to win the Super Bowl, it won't matter. But still, questionable decisions by Tom-Terrific today. Wasn't Brady hurting earlier in the week?
  13. QUOTE (Tex @ Jan 22, 2012 -> 06:20 PM) You are taking it totally out of context. That is a cheap shot that I don't appreciate. When people are FORCED FROM OFFICE, which she isn't, the guy who wanted her out of office and shot her, wins. If this isn't her being "Forced from office as a direct result of a terrorist act", I don't know what is.

QUOTE (Tex @ Jan 22, 2012 -> 06:16 PM) You still haven't explained why a business should be expected to give away their product. When investors invest in a movie or album, who pays when someone steals a copy? Who pays? Since you can't seem to figure it out, it is on the people who actually buy the product. As that pool gets smaller and smaller they pay more. You can justify stealing all you want. You can complain about profits. You can bring up cancer drugs and God knows everything else. But the conversation is about music and movie downloads. Since the evil investors want to make money you believe people should be allowed to steal from them. I disagree and believe companies should be protected by law when someone steals their stuff. I think Nike should be protected from Chinese counterfeit of their products, I think Clancy deserves the right to sell his books, not have them pirated on-line, and I believe record companies deserve to have people buy their product not steal it. But every single thing you've written there is an absolute. Nike should be "Protected" from Chinese counterfeits. Clancy deserves the right to sell his books. No one is disputing that. The question is...should that end at some point, and how much legal protection should be granted to those matters? Should Shakespeare be available on the public domain? Should the Bible? If you answer "Yes", then you have accepted a limit to the 100% exclusive copyright you have just advocated, unwillingly, in that last post. Once you've accepted that, then the argument is how extreme the government's actions should be in order to protect copyright holders. Your last statement right there, and I'm not sure willingly or not, argues for infinite copyright protection. And whether you like it or not, the stronger you make copyright law, the stronger you make the penalties, the stronger you make the black market.
  15. That's officially a remarkable game. Not a classic, but one helluva game.
  16. QUOTE (Tex @ Jan 22, 2012 -> 06:07 PM) Agreed. Read what I responded to. I applaud her for resigning, but I would have respected her desire to hang onto her office while recovering. Then don't call this "Terrorists winning". That's just insulting to her.

QUOTE (Tex @ Jan 22, 2012 -> 06:08 PM) Then I will ask you, or anyone, who pays? How do investors, whether it is the artists or those that pay them, make an investment, how are they suppose to earn back their investment? They currently are doing exactly that. The system we have works.

QUOTE (Tex @ Jan 22, 2012 -> 06:05 PM) Wow, I didn't know the latest Foo Fighter CD was that important to you. It's the exact same argument. Who gets to choose what an appropriate profit margin is on a drug? We could save hundreds of thousands of lives worldwide right now if we broke every copyright on every medication. But we don't do that.

QUOTE (Tex @ Jan 22, 2012 -> 06:03 PM) I have a problem with people stealing. Do you have a problem with businesses expecting to get paid for items they have for sale? If the business is only able to earn a profit on its products thanks to the government deciding that they should, then I start to have a problem with that unless someone can demonstrate for me a societal benefit, which is what I want the government to do. Once the government has provided sufficient protection that a reasonable profit can be turned, then I'm good with it. There is plenty of money to be invested in entertainment right now. Hell, there is more than enough invested in it. Copyrights were 28 years when the first copyright law was passed in 1790. They now are 95 years. Copyright law in this country is excessive to the point of insanity, for the protection of a handful of media companies. And in all economies, excessive legal protection always leads to the creation of a black market.
