  1. This year's Verducci effect article is out, and the White Sox take 2 of the spots on it, with Axelrod at #2 and Stewart just barely making the list. I had no idea the Sox had jumped Axelrod's innings by 60 last year.
  2. This year's Verducci effect article is out. I'll post this in the Pale Hose catch all also, since 2 Sox pitchers show up on it.
  3. Cole Hamels doesn't have any interest in taking a Jared Weaver style, 5 year/$85 million deal to stay in Philly.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 19, 2012 -> 01:08 PM) Picking up another shooter would be awesome. It would also free up money in the coming years for the Bulls, which I would bet would stop the Cs from doing that deal. Don't Brewer and Korver expire?
  5. So we get to hear about Westbrook and Durant feuding for 5 more years.
  6. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 19, 2012 -> 12:46 PM) I think you're on drugs. Then again, I like the idea of the Bulls winning a Championship this year. I mean, if it's Korver + Brewer + that pick to balance the salaries...the Bulls lose some shooting and some defense as well. Can you convince me that Ray Allen would be a huge upgrade and not just a small one?
  7. Oh no, the corn! Paul Newman's gonna have my legs!
  8. I really don't think I'd give up that Bobcats pick for Allen.
  9. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 19, 2012 -> 12:39 PM) They also lost a bunch of votes, so we'll never have any idea who really won. Go Iowa! The solution to this problem is obvious...more strict voter ID laws.
  10. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 19, 2012 -> 07:55 AM) Turns out Santorum won Iowa by 34 votes. This won't change the delegate outcome. http://www.krmg.com/news/news/local/gop-ca...weeks-af/nGTb6/ Great, so the good ol, folksy, totally unrepresentative state that for some reason still gets to go ahead of every other state can't even get an accurate statement of their "Winner" 2 weeks afterwards, gives "Mittmentum" to a guy who didn't win, and we can all be proud in the fact that Iowa's caucus format is a sad excuse for an election and needs to go away. This just annoys the bleep out of me.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 18, 2012 -> 02:47 PM) I sorta take everything from them with a grain of salt, they haven't had the most accurate record in the last few years and they also clearly try to set narratives by flooding the market with polls, but an 11 point swing over 2 weeks is something that ought to start screaming out. NBC/Marist is out today with a South Carolina poll showing Mittens's lead over Newt narrowing to 5. Obviously, that's prior to all the things happening today. PPP is also out in the field in SC, a multi-day poll, and has the pair effectively tied in their first day, large margin of error sample
  12. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jan 19, 2012 -> 12:24 PM) Amar'e is one. Shaq played a full season there didn't he?
  13. Why should I express any interest at all in Ari Fleischer's twitter account?
  14. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 19, 2012 -> 12:16 PM) Is it really the medical staff though? Hills ankle injury was horrific, I think it honestly took him that long to truly recover from it to actually stay on the court. I would tend to lean towards the money aspect He's not the only guy who has said that the Phoenix staff works miracles. Nash is a big one also (that might well be why he keeps staying there also). And I believe they've had other injury recoveries in the past decade, someone remind me?
  15. QUOTE (HeGone33 @ Jan 19, 2012 -> 11:54 AM) Grant Hill's decision to stay in PHX had to have been knowing that they would continue to be bad and the Bulls would be good again.......there was no reason to think anything else. He's like Kerry Wood, rather be in a low pressure situation than a chance at winning a championship. There's also a medical staff thing going on in Phoenix that no other team in the NBA seems able to match.
  16. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 19, 2012 -> 11:03 AM) Did you see The Social Network? Because Eisenberg was quite solid in that, and not at all playing is usual role. Really?
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 19, 2012 -> 09:27 AM) No Balta yet? Rumor is Perry is dropping out. Thursday mornings are very busy for me.
  18. QUOTE (Tex @ Jan 18, 2012 -> 08:13 PM) Yes, but those were not the blunders and the weird image he was projecting. Yeah, the one non-awful policy he defended the entire time was the one he got hammered on.
  19. QUOTE (Tex @ Jan 18, 2012 -> 05:49 PM) He was trying to be something he was not. I wish he would have been himself, much more to the center and less, less, well less everything. You realize the first thing that he really started to get hammered on was him actually defending one of the only centrist positions he's taken, on allowing children of illegal immigrants into schools?
  20. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 18, 2012 -> 05:30 PM) Should look really good when he's coming out of the bullpen in 3 years. I'm not going to go that far...but I will say, it's nearly impossible for him to pitch up to that value. That's a $19 million a year average over 6 years. He'd literally have to be one of the top 2-3 pitchers in the AL every season of the deal to out-earn that money.
  21. So effectively, 6 years, $113 million.
  22. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jan 18, 2012 -> 04:57 PM) It is athought for sure and unless I am missing something we are a bit short at a backup 3B kind of guy If the season started right now, I'd guess that role goes to someone out of the Ozzie we traded Ozzie for and Escobar.
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 18, 2012 -> 04:23 PM) mortreport Chris Mortensen Archie Manning laughed when he heard @RobLowe said Peyton will retire, "Noooo...he ain't retiring. I think he would've told me." #NFL32 Ok, that's a pretty good one.
