  1. They need to ungrease these footballs for the 2nd half.
  2. Washington Post has a big piece with Paterno speaking on record. Here's some of the money portion, but there's lots of other statements if you want the full story.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 14, 2012 -> 06:04 PM) I really doubt there is only one team out there looking for staring pitching. I really doubt there is 1 team willing to give up a reasonable amount of young talent for one.
  4. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 14, 2012 -> 05:53 PM) That TD throw should be illegal. There is like no way to stop that throw. Saints are -3 in the turnover battle and only down 3 points, can't complain about that. -4 now.
  5. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 14, 2012 -> 05:47 PM) Yup. 1 every minute. A bunch of guys on my floor my junior year at SIU did it, I chickened out. I think out of 15, 2 made it and they probably don't remember it. Have a friend who did that I believe
  6. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 14, 2012 -> 05:40 PM) Century Club-not nearly as fun the next day when you aren't 21 anymore. Is that the 100 beer shots?
  7. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Jan 14, 2012 -> 05:36 PM) This drive by SF will be very crucial. Hopefully they dont start playing not to lose and keep playing aggressive. Cant have a short drive here. 3 and out.
  8. New Orleans can certainly score this, but they have to slow down the 9ers too. And they're playing outdoors.
  9. The "Definitely not coordinating with Stephen Colbert" SuperPAC will be on the air in South Carolina tomorrow.
  10. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 14, 2012 -> 04:00 PM) The problem is you just cant keep adding games and keeping the previous games having the same value, not to mention fans arent made of money and most fanbases wont be able to say, travel to Cali for the Rose Bowl and then go to Florida for the NC game. There would have to be games played at home (like the playoffs for FCS), if you want any chance of filling these stadiums. Many schools dont have big enough fanbases to sell out 1 bowl game, let alone 3. I think the assumption that the fans are made of money is a reasonable one for them to operate under until proven otherwise.
  11. The only way to make something start is to make it so that the people who currently have money don't lose it. More money has to come in, so that there is no loss from the people who have it now, but there's something new for the people to grab after. Add a game after the bowl round. Keep the bowls as-is, then add on top of it.
  12. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jan 14, 2012 -> 02:13 PM) At this time last year the Bulls were 7-6 through 13 games. Rose had already won the MVP. Everyone just didn't know it yet. It was this stretch of the season where Rose really started to lift off and carry this team. Don't forget though...those 13 games included No Boozer, and yes Circus Trip.
  13. QUOTE (Cali @ Jan 14, 2012 -> 01:32 PM) The M's must be looking at what happened with the A's last year. You can have all the great young pitching you want, but if your offense is putrid you're not going anywhere. If Seattle can make a crazy push and get Fielder, they could, in theory trade Smoak for some young pitching if they wanted to replenish... As far as Pineda is concerned, he could dominate, but, I think there's equal chance he melts down in in NY. The whole Yankee Stadium pressure for a 23 year old kid. Seattle will not, and I mean emphatically, not go for Fielder with both Smoak and Montero on their roster. Someone has to play the field somewhere.
  14. Apparently we will get Discount double Check: Return of the Jedi in today/tomorrow's games.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 4, 2012 -> 02:12 PM) http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/01/04/...E8031DI20120104 (Reuters) - European governments have agreed in principle to ban imports of Iranian oil, EU diplomats said Wednesday, dealing a blow to Tehran that crowns new Western sanctions months before an Iranian election. The prospective embargo by the European Union, along with tough U.S. financial measures signed into law by President Barack Obama on New Year's Eve, form a concerted Western campaign to hold back Iran's nuclear program. Yeah, no one ever means that.
  16. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jan 14, 2012 -> 12:48 PM) Not when you consider how risky young pitchers are when it comes to being injured. Once they get to the point Pineda is at, hasn't that risk declined substantially? Gotten through a full big league season, survived, etc.? (Then agian, that still might well be a reason why Seattle would be willing to let him go)
  17. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 14, 2012 -> 12:37 PM) That's the point. For Felix, NOTHING outside of two A prospects and another B+/- prospect will suffice. Who can come up with that? I like the two B's from the Yankees. But that's not enough for me. I want a f***ing Bryce Harper or Mike Trout back for Felix. Felix though is already being paid nearly $20 million each of the next 3 seasons. The "Surplus value" he might be creating would still be $5-10 million or so if he keeps performing like he has the last 3. Pineda was already worth $15 million in fangraphs last year, while being paid league minimum. The fact that Felix is going to be paid highly ought to make a big difference here.
  18. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 14, 2012 -> 12:29 PM) Only if you stop rooting for IU basketball I will only go so far...
  19. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 14, 2012 -> 12:28 PM) Maybe they think Pineda's arm is gonna fall off in the next year or two, so they traded him before he got hurt? Or he's really difficult to coach in some way, or there are personal issues, who knows. It does seem like if you've got a pitcher like Pineda and a few other pitchers around, that should free up the money to spend on bats if bats are what you need.
  20. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 14, 2012 -> 12:24 PM) I'm just a huge Drew Brees fan due to ensuring his spot on my fantasy roster 5 straight season. Watching the game and getting drunk with the old man today... can't wait! Go Saints! If I give up and cheer for Brees, will that be enough to convince Purdue to call about an interview?
  21. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 14, 2012 -> 12:20 PM) Check out the Mariners' offensive statistics last year and the reasoning becomes rather clear. That alone seems like it wouldn't be enough to motivate people to give up a top flight pitcher. Alwasy wonder with these deals what the stuff behind the scenes might be.
  22. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jan 14, 2012 -> 11:20 AM) I don't think a team would trade for Floyd if Jackson were available on a 1-year deal. I don't know why a team would trade for Floyd if jackson were available. Period.
