  1. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 15, 2011 -> 10:58 AM) Whew. I thought Balta might've been drinking. I'd say I was more illustrating how riduclous the idea that Kobe might get traded to the Lakers is. But whatever works.
  2. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Dec 15, 2011 -> 12:34 PM) I totally agree with this post, Korver missed open 3s after open 3s, if he would've hit a few, it would've opened up the floor for Rose. Rip is a nice addition but if we get someone like Iguodala, the Bulls can beat the Heat, the Heat are still weak at the PG and C position like last year. The Bulls sure don't look like they're anywhere close to getting Iguodala.
  3. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Dec 15, 2011 -> 12:54 PM) Doesn't that move fit into "Try to win in 2012" but retool for future? If Reed can do equal job as Santos, we just got Molina for freezey. No, because even if Reed can do a job equal to Santos, we've weakened the whole bullpen to get a guy who should still be 2 years away, and while doing so saved very little in 2012 cash that could be spent elsewhere.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 15, 2011 -> 01:04 PM) There are plenty of posts detailing exactly that in this very thread. This sounds like Quinarvy bait...
  5. QUOTE (Cali @ Dec 15, 2011 -> 01:15 PM) I would have no problem with the Twins slipping into another decade or so of irrelevance after their run recently... They could be right back on top next year if their 2 MVP's play like MVP's.
  6. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 15, 2011 -> 10:35 AM) lol. Good luck with that. Kobe's got nearly $60 million owed to him for the 2013-2014 seasons. The Clippers could pull it off by dealing Chris Paul's contract for him. Or maybe by adding Maurice Williams, Blake Griffin, and some filler.
  7. Loved this Phil Jackson based discussion on the Triangle offense, why it works, why some guys don't like it, and why it's fading away.
  8. QUOTE (VictoryMC98 @ Dec 15, 2011 -> 10:06 AM) By your account, that must mean Coop and Kenny are not respected... I can see that. By Ozzie.
  9. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 15, 2011 -> 09:53 AM) Don't forget that was the only series Lebron showed up to play in too. He was hitting shots that weren't going down against Boston and then Dallas. I don't recall Lebron having an exceptionally spectacular series, I recall him having what, 1 game where he won it with some ridiculous shots, then another game which was really won by Bosh, then another game which was really won by Haslam, all of which were really punctuated by the Bulls being unable to do anything remotely resembling a competent offense. Basically, if Korver could have hit some of the open shots he got on the outside, the Bulls would have taken that series. If Rose would have been smarter about his shot and drive selections, the Bulls could have taken that series. If the Bulls had a competent additional offensive option, the Bulls could have taken that series. The defense held together pretty darn well, even with LBJ on the opposite side, different guys had to step up just to keep the Heat in the games, but the biggest thing was that the Heat's defense completely clamped down on the Bulls on the interior and mid range jumper game, and the Bulls couldn't spread the floor or make outside shots to take advantage.
  10. QUOTE (VictoryMC98 @ Dec 15, 2011 -> 09:51 AM) I didn't get that at all from reading that.. I think you are reading into things just a tad to much. If Ozzie wasn't respected, Buehrle isn't a Marlin then.. IMO. I do think Jake's feelings were hurt by Ozzie, to which I say.. get over it. But if Ozzie's feelings were hurt by Coop or Kenny, well that's a legitimate grievance.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 15, 2011 -> 09:43 AM) The insinuation is that the parrot is the Trib writer of course. That is interesting because apparently that means Joe doesn't repeat what people tell him when he writes, which means he is also admitting his makes s*** up. Yeah, that's why I didn't think that "not being a parrot" was that much of a compliment either.
  12. Lowest 1 week seasonally adjusted jobless claim number since May, 2008. Golfclap.
  13. Quasi-GOP Pollster Rassmussen is now the 2nd pollster out with a poll in Iowa showing that the focus of the campaign on Newt over the last few weeks has taken its toll on him. Their last poll of Iowa in November showed Newt with a 13 point lead, this poll shows Newt's support Plummetting (32% to 20%) and Mittens taking a 3 point lead, with Newt's former support spreading out between Perry, Huntsmann, and Bachmann.
  14. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 15, 2011 -> 09:36 AM) I was wondering the same thing. According to Wikipedia, of the last 15 winners, only one was a defense not in the top 10. That was Strahan when he broke the sack record. Only 3 of those winners didn't make the playoffs either. In order to win it, Allen may have to break the sack record or at least go over 20. A meeting vs. Lance Louis & company in Week 17 should help his cause. Allen has been destroyed the last 2 times he's gone up against Webb.
  15. Virtual reality displays are the next thing there.
  16. Wait, is Cowley the Parrot or does the Parrot work for the Tribune?
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 15, 2011 -> 09:16 AM) WallaceNBA_ESPN Michael Wallace Bulls nab Rip Hamilton in move that makes them bigger potential headache 4 Heat. Very few 2s frustrate Wade like Rip. Trouble is...Wade did virtually nothing against the Bulls last year anyway. The problem wasn't the Bulls defense, it was the Bulls inability to score the ball or spread the floor. The Bulls will get Rip open shots. The question is what he'll do with them.
  18. That's one of the things they were watching.
  19. Really, you think that's an actual impediment?
  20. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Dec 15, 2011 -> 07:36 AM) That is a very good trade for the Stros. A first year arb-eligible player with a ton of talent but who has struggled and been hurt? Yeah, it's a reasonable gamble for the Stros but I wouldn't call it a "Very good trade" yet. It's the kind of trade the Stros should be making. It'd be like Beckham getting hurt for most of this year, then some team trading for him. The real worry is that if he doesn't shine through this year, he rapidly becomes a DFA candidate.
  21. QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Dec 14, 2011 -> 09:17 PM) Same old Clippers. They won't be able to sign him long term. They have to win it all this year for the trade to make sense, and they won't. They have a huge built in advantage on signing him, not only the city, but the CBA let's them offer like $25 mil more than anyone else can next offseason.
  22. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Dec 14, 2011 -> 08:42 PM) Doesnt the NBA have to fire the Hornets GM at this point? Either he A) agreed to a Lakers deal that was moronic without even seeing what options were out there or B) was promised some sort of other compensation by the Lakers if he agreed to the trade. Most likely the guy is out when a new owner buys the team, so I hate to say it, but theres a definite reason hed want to collude with the lakers if they promised him a future job. Either way, the guy was either stupid or worse. Hey, it's been good enough for every other superstar trade before this, why would he expect to get a better return just by shopping around? Kenny Williams agrees strongly.
  23. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Dec 14, 2011 -> 07:23 PM) After this season. So by vetoing the trade, the NBA got themselves a better deal and removed what, $40 million in obligations that the Hornets would have taken on? The NBA owners are the best GM in the NBA.
  24. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 14, 2011 -> 07:22 PM) As an basketball fan...Griffin and Paul on the same team makes me happy. As an NBA fan...i'm sanguin.. As a bulls fan, fairly happy. But the clippers could be a super team. They had to give up an absolute ton to get CP3 if that's the deal. Billips CP3 DeAndre Jordan Caron Butler Blake Griffin They'll definitely be competitive in the West if everyone stays healthy, but they could use some more size now.
  25. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Dec 14, 2011 -> 07:20 PM) So if this is happening, the league won, and got a spectacular deal for that asset. Does Kaman's contract expire soon?
