  1. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 3, 2011 -> 01:46 PM) No, you should realize that there's nothing inherently wrong with a gay couple raising a child. It would be much more fun to start posting stories of clearly unfit heterosexual parents in reply to his postings of homosexual families that don't work. Thus proving beyond any doubt that all children should be raised by wolves.
  2. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Dec 3, 2011 -> 01:26 PM) Suggestion for the mods, how about a stuck thread for tweets/latest news regarding the Sox for during the winter meetings? No comments, just a place where we can take a quick peak at the latest goings on. By all accounts it should be a crazy week. A winter meetings thread usually appears somewhere.

Have a friend who was given a free one when she interviewed with Lockheed, she really enjoyed it, but I couldn't tell you a brand. One thing to make sure of with those, if you want to use them outdoors, make sure they're hard to damage.
  4. Quality education would steer people towards foods with, well, nutritional value.
  5. It's going to be interesting to see if there's a response in the FA Market about the SEC news.
  6. QUOTE (chisox2334 @ Dec 3, 2011 -> 11:41 AM) what you see is what your gonna get out of beckham. I will say his defense is very nice though If that's the case, then he's only going to be with this team through the end of the 2013 season. They'd offer this version of Beckham arbitration once, but he's not playing well enough to be a 2nd year arbitration player.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 3, 2011 -> 12:14 PM) That is a trade of two awful players "Trading for a former Angels catcher" hasn't been a failed strategy recently.
  8. QUOTE (sircaffey @ Dec 2, 2011 -> 11:16 PM) Marc Stein reports: "Sources told ESPN.com that the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers, despite possessing no cap space to bid for the 26-year-old swingman (Arron Afflalo), will continue to press the Nuggets to see if they’re amenable to sign-and-trade discussions." QUOTE (sircaffey @ Dec 2, 2011 -> 11:19 PM) Bulls reach out to SG Nick Young: http://espn.go.com/chicago/nba/story/_/id/...ards-nick-young Even if they wind up being unable to get them, it's nice to see the Bulls targeting guys who could legitimately make a difference.
  9. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 3, 2011 -> 09:54 AM) It's definitely been a combination of things. The penalties have caught up with them. They haven't been throwing touchdowns to Megatron. They've had an inconsistent running game. They had an unsustainably low turnover rate. Teams were getting up on them but not putting them away. They should have lost to Minnesota and Dallas and been 3-2, which would make them 5-6 right now, actually, and they could have very easily lost to Carolina, who was up 24-7 on them at one point... If you look at their schedule also...they had a weak opening and then hit some big games right around November.
  10. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 3, 2011 -> 10:44 AM) http://www.cnn.com/2011/12/03/justice/syra....html?hpt=hp_t3 Isnt that nice, Boeheim gets to clarify his statement a third time, and apologize for really realz now For once, I kinda understand Boeheim here...if someone made that kind of allegation against a guy you've worked with and been friends with for decades, you're going to have a rapid, emotional response, and then if the case starts building there's going to be an "oh sh*t" moment every few days.
  11. Link, lots more details at site, Jeff Passan article.
  12. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Dec 2, 2011 -> 07:48 PM) Trump! i just found out he can't fire anyone from the debate, so this won't be as good as i thought. He could still try.
  13. Might be a great path to public office.
  14. Keep guessing
  15. QUOTE (lostfan @ Dec 2, 2011 -> 06:56 PM) lol, stolen off my Facebook profile Correct. It needed posted.
  16. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 2, 2011 -> 03:42 PM) I'm not a fan of the EB signing because it's just going to give the Bears more excuse to ignore the possibility of adding a legit #1 WR threat for another 4 f***ing years. Even with Bennett, that has to be the Bears #1 need going into this offseason, unless there is something longer-term at the QB spot.
  17. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 2, 2011 -> 04:35 PM) Thankfully the NFL is much tougher than MLB. It seems like baseball gives longer suspensions just so they can lower them come appeal time. MLB does have a stronger union.
  18. How did y'all not post this one? I checked the logical threads, did I miss it somewhere?
  19. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Dec 2, 2011 -> 03:14 PM) Yeah they are happy with their QBs that's why they were going to try for Orton.... At the time they tried for Orton, they didn't have McCown, and thus Lovie's statement that "We have three quarterbacks" now would not have been applicable then. Also probably means...well, they'd put McCown > McNabb. And I'm not sure they'd be wrong about that.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 2, 2011 -> 02:35 PM) Great. But obviously things have changed a wee bit, otherwise we wouldn't be shopping Danks, Floyd, Q, Thornton etc. The idea that Jordan Danks getting picked in the Rule 5 not letting us deal Alex Rios is irrational at best. If we went into July 2 games back of first place, and Dunn and Rios were putting up average seasons for themselves, would they get moved? The right answer should be yes, the real answer I'd guess would wind up being no. Any reason I can come up with to "encourage" a GM to do the right thing and pull the plug on Rios the second he can be moved I could as a good one, even if it's just Jordan Danks's defense.
  21. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Dec 2, 2011 -> 02:28 PM) Probably longer than that. True, that's why Rios was picked up in the first place. Ditto Peavy..."Borderline in the race".
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 2, 2011 -> 01:29 PM) So the Sox are looking to move Danks, Thornton, Quentin, and not bring back Buehrle because of payroll problems, but they wouldn't deal Rios if they had the chance? All because they had Jordan Danks picked in the rule 5 They should have been aggressive and moved Rios in 2010, but didn't do so because they were "Borderline" in the race, and then a miracle occurred. "Borderline in the race" has been enough reason to fail to do what was necessary for this team 2 years in a row.
  23. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 2, 2011 -> 01:37 PM) I'm pretty convinced Gordon Beckham is just a glovesman. I'm pretty convinced there's a great hitter buried in there but a combination of difficult technique, poor coaching, and his mental state have conspired to keep it hidden.
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 2, 2011 -> 01:06 PM) I still have a very hard time with sports reporting being considered journalism for the purposes of reporting laws. Should business journalists be required to report hints of business-related crimes to the police for investigation? Because these days, sports is pretty much nothing but a giant business. If there's a shield law of any sort, then it's going to apply to sports journalists too.
