  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 19, 2011 -> 09:31 AM) Even if it was 2 mph fast, that means he was consistently at 91-92 and hit 93. That is still plenty fine for Jake. Pitch F/X has JFP's fastball topping out at 93.7 last night, with the range being 91-93 (check both the 2 seamer and the 4 seamer in that data).
  2. serious question...esp. hope 2k5 chimes in. I've got a small number of government bonds as savings. I know everything I have in the market will get hammered if there's a default, but that will just be a paper loss and will probably come back with time, but those bonds are worrying me in the event of a default. Any idea what might happen to existing U.S. government bonds if they do default? And at what point do we decide that the market isn't panicking enough and sell them? I'm thinking that if there's no deal on the debt limit by June 15th or so, I'm going to dump them, but I'm worried that there'll be a run away from them before that time if I keep waiting.
  3. Come on G!, get the pitchers on one of them late spring one-upsmanship runs.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 19, 2011 -> 09:16 AM) And there you have why Rose needs to have the threat of the outside shot. If not, they just pack the lane and deny it. He didn't have either last night...but the real problem was that no one else did either. If just one person had been able to hit a shot then it wouldn't have been the collapsing on Rose that we saw.
  5. I didn't know the South Shore gave you a good route to Wrigley.
  6. Good times indeed. I can recall the evening coming back from the city on there where my friend was about to vomit from having eaten too much at the cheesecake factory.
  7. Overall on reflection...It's really hard for me to say how the Bulls can play a worse game. They didn't shoot from the field when open, they missed a ton of free throws, Rose missed everything even when he got to the hoop, the refs were atrocious and went for the Heat for the first 2.5 Q's (and made up for it with a call or two for the Bulls in the 4th), Rose got in foul trouble, Korver couldn't hit the broadside of a barn, Asik got hurt and brought Noah in just in time for Noah to bail Wade out with an important foul, Boozer was totally useless, the Bulls were dumbfounded by Haslem's presence, and the rotations simply didn't work. Despite all that, the Bulls were right in this game until they couldn't score for the last 8 minutes. It's hard for me to figure out how the Bulls could play a worse game unless someone gets hurt. They'll probably have one that looks worse in Miami because that's how things go on the road, but this is as weak as the Bulls can be on offense and they still were a shot or two away from winning the game.

QUOTE (Art Vandelay @ May 18, 2011 -> 10:52 PM) That sounds cool and I am glad it worked out for her. Only difference here is that I have not interviewed with either yet and am waiting to see if I even am offered an interview by the other company. I think the only thing I can realistically do, if I get an offer tomorrow, is call the other company and tell them I got a job offer and let them decide from there what they want to do. If I only have 24 hours to decide though, there probably won't be a lot they can do. I am sure they would want me to come in and interview in person before making any kind of offer and unless they cram me in last minute for the next morning, I will be out of luck with that one. One trick you could always try is, if they ask you to make a decision in 24 hours...turn it around and ask for a 5% salary bump or something like that and say you'll agree right then if they do that for you.
  9. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 19, 2011 -> 02:44 AM) Pitching, pitching, pitching. And obviously the right call not to sign Soriano, the Yankees can absorb that loss, though, just like the Red Sox with Jenks. The Rays will enjoy the draft picks.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ May 18, 2011 -> 11:10 PM) Mark Derosa looks like he just tore his wrist while starting his swing. What a fraud! How the Hell does that make a player a "fraud"?
  11. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 18, 2011 -> 11:34 PM) The question is, how's he gonna be feeling tomorrow? Probably sore. But we also have a 6 man rotation.
  12. QUOTE (hi8is @ May 19, 2011 -> 04:53 AM) Isnt Dunn hitting over 300 with 8 doubles in his last 8 games? He has 3 doubles in his last 6 games but is back to hitting .143 over that stretch. He briefly snapped into hitting mode on the early part of the road trip but then the Sox hit Oakland and came home.
  13. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 19, 2011 -> 12:38 AM) I'll take it. If his elbow pops then so be it. For now, I'll be content. When did Jake Peavy have elbow problems?
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 22, 2011 -> 02:44 PM) It's really going to be fun bumping this thread if Jake comes back and throws a shutout in late April/early May. The thread is closed and I'm abusing my power to give props to this very prescient poster.
  15. QUOTE (lostfan @ May 18, 2011 -> 11:22 PM) Haslem brought a dimension to the Heat I haven't seen all year. Normally, they just fold and melt down when the D tightens up in the 4th but his s*** was coming out of nowhere and I don't think Thibodeau was ready for that. They still had energy to play tight D in crunch time. Usually they don't. Part of that I think was that the Bulls just had no video on how Haslem would play for this team, since Haslem hasn't played for this team. Everyone was always out of position on him because no one knew where he'd be or what he'd do.
  16. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 19, 2011 -> 03:09 AM) I really wonder how badly that ankle is hurt. He had almost a whole week of rest between the first and second rounds. He looked just fine for most of the Atlanta series, hell, he scored 44 points on what could have been a seriously injured ankle. There's bad games, then there's games where Rose blows a handful of layups where he would normally never miss and then goes to feel for his ankle after he gets knocked down on a foul. I'm not completely sure, but he might have ended up missing the FTs after that foul (or it might have been the foul before that). Something's not right here. I think that getting in foul trouble early totally took him out of his rhythm, and then he started trying to force absolutely everything. He still was physically able to get to the hoop, but he was surprised when he got there so he'd start over-faking and expecting the Heat to be there.
  17. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ May 18, 2011 -> 11:07 PM) I don't like to get out coaches a ton, but I put a lot of this on Thibs. Why the f*** did he stay with Korver for so long in the 4th when he provided NOTHING, and hasn't since round 1? Who else would even be willing go take a shot? Everything else has been deng or rose trying to force something with no ball movement.
  18. I don't know which team gave a game away more, the bulls here or the celtics in game 5 when they quit.
  19. QUOTE (G&T @ May 18, 2011 -> 11:06 PM) game over. Oh, and you can't say LeBron doesn't close. He has taken over this game. Not really, the Bulls Are giving this away. Gift wrapped
  20. MAKE A DAMN SHOT
