  1. I will be annoyed if Mendick comes back and they send Mendick down while this kid is struggling. I will be annoyed if they keep benching him for Harrison and Leury when those guys are playing poorly. I won’t be annoyed if they keep playing him while he’s hitting .100.
  2. I’d be ok with 5 games a week or so with the usual offday, but Im used to guys getting fewer than that to rest or protect them or whatever. I would not be thrilled with that treatment. If you’re calling a kid up from AA you just gotta play him.
  3. It would also stink for Mendick to have actually earned a spot and then lose the spot because of an injury (unless someone else genuinely outplayed him).
  4. I don’t want to have a guy in a rhythm and then break that rhythm by moving him between 3 levels and playing him 9 games over three weeks.
  5. They said hip yesterday, is it both? He always seems to be hurting, plays through it, and right when I think he should get time off because of the slump he is in, suddenly he breaks out. This has happened like 4-5 times in his career.
  6. My worry with this is that Mendick is only a deep bruise, he’s only gone for a few weeks, Sosa plays like 3-4 games a week before the AS break and doesn’t really get a chance before Mendick returns.
  7. If you were doing that, you leave him in the minors to build up numbers where he’s already having success. Guys coming up and struggling for a few weeks, especially from AA, is the norm. This generally makes people question a young player’s value. Guys coming up and taking immediately are rare, and teams probably focus on the BABIP line if they do. Teams can also scout guys plenty in the minor leagues too.
  8. And since strength and conditioning staff pop up out of the ground once a ballpark is constructed, no one can possibly be blamed for hiring them.
  9. I know I said this before he went back to the Dodgers, but boy would Chris Taylor look good on this roster right now.
  10. I would also be legit curious about that.
  11. I would be legit curious why this time, nearly 70 games into the season, was the time to make a statement about hustling.
  12. There is a decent chance Mendick is on his way to the 60 day IL.
  13. Mendick going down today reminded me that we are just about at the 1 year anniversary of the White Sox deciding they didn’t want Eduardo Escobar due to some unnamed thing in his medicals.
  14. According to Kasper yes. Specifically said he was out on deck.
  15. Tim Anderson is out on deck and would hit for Reese. WTF????
  16. Is it a fair question whether you want to burn your last position player on the bench?
  17. The dreaded bases loaded at bats.
  18. I will give even money odds that they make no roster moves tomorrow and play the full game with only 1 position player on their bench.
  19. Just for reference it was 1.9%.
  20. It is at least accurate to say that his velocity is down by 1.4 mph in those 2 starts compared to 2021 and that his velocity did not start off unusually low at the beginning of 2021. I won’t go so far as to say that’s a trend yet, but it is factually true.
  21. Gameday says there's an injury delay?
  22. They already used a lot of pitchers last night and have a 4 game series starting tomorrow. GIolito is eating an inning here because the bullpen needs it.
  23. I would place a solid bet saying this happens.
