  1. Someone get him a mop.
  2. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 11, 2011 -> 11:05 AM) It's hard to get a lot of Ks when you average under 30 plate appearances per game. Huh? You get 27 outs/game unless it goes to extras. The White Sox record nearly the lowest fraction of those outs via the strikeout in the AL. The number of PA's you have doesn't affect the number of outs you record. Edit: anyway, just checked, the Sox are in the middle of the pack for total PA's this season.
  3. Quick, get that man a trashcan.
  4. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 11, 2011 -> 11:02 AM) Yeah, and he clearly clowned Boozer over the course of 3 games during the regular season this year to the tune of 34% shooting, averaging 15 points, 6 boards, and a block. I'd expect Noah and Taj to get most of Bosh.
  5. Obviously, given our conversation yesterday, going below the belt is something I'm not opposed to.
  6. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ May 11, 2011 -> 10:57 AM) Nobody on the team is a tough out; same s*** every year. Long HR swings are Kenny's type of player. High K's be damned. The 2010 white sox had the 2nd fewest strikeouts in the AL. The 2011 White Sox have the 3rd fewest strikeouts in the AL.
  7. Maybe that explains your economic policy arguments.
  8. Keep counting those seconds.
  9. I have a better evil laugh than you.
  10. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 11, 2011 -> 10:38 AM) But the way the Astros have operated isn't that far off from the Cardinals' business model in recent years. It's just that StL has been a lot more successful, AND they obviously had the fortune of Mr. Pujols being in their organization. There's nothing inherently wrong with playing to "win now" if you've already got some key pieces to build around. You can't do that if your team is old/breaking down though. Think about what would happen if the Pirates decided they needed to "win now", signed 1-2 guys to huge contracts, and started trading away their young guys for expensive veterans. That's what the Astros have been doing. That's also why the Cards are in so much trouble if Pujols leaves...they're locked into "Win now" mode thanks to their other contracts without a huge amount of flexibility or replacements.
  11. Good ol regular American evil fun.
  12. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 11, 2011 -> 10:33 AM) So Bonds and A-Rod are the only ones to get in (eventually)? Has Piazza escaped 100% with his reputation intact? I wasn't sure...haven't followed it as closely as many others, as it's too depressing to me as a fan. Yes Piazza's rep seems in tact. And I doubt Bonds will get to 75%.
  13. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 11, 2011 -> 10:36 AM) Viciedo becomes the starter in LF and Ramirez/Beckham/Teahen/Vizquel all lead off until one keeps the position, I'd imagine. Not unlike 2008/2009. Which still means that you need to drop one of the pitchers, since you'd be adding both Vicideo and Peavy.
  14. As far as I can tell, the state of TN is going to vote on banning "being muslim in groups of 2 or more people".
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 11, 2011 -> 10:14 AM) So instead of it being actual revenue, you hope it becomes revenue again... Not exactly a good place for a guy who is coming in under revenue projections and has a massive debt load payment right now. Depends on their actual finances. With expiring contracts this year, and that teams marketing machine, they could still be making money this year. Forbes thinks they made $25.5 million last year, before interest/debt payments.

  17. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 11, 2011 -> 10:00 AM) Keep em both, DFA Pierre Lillibridge becomes the everday LF.
  18. Evil you say?
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 11, 2011 -> 09:50 AM) Everytime they draw 30k, that is another $500,000 to a $1,000,000 they won't have to spend next year. But those 10k tickets that aren't sold are potentially increased revenue if the right player is brought in.
  20. Can he be at Thursday's game? I can arrange it there.
  21. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ May 11, 2011 -> 09:41 AM) If the pitchers can't adjust to a new rotation, than do they really have any business winning anyways? I swear, baseball players will find any excuse for their poor performance, but in reality it's all up to them. Just about everyone in that rotation has been better on extra rest over the past season or two, and right now it seems like G! is hurting a bit anyway.
  22. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 11, 2011 -> 12:11 AM) Are you implying that Ed Wade is not a good GM?? For all I know he might be one of the best GM's in baseball history, but since 2005 he's been operating with an ownership that insisted he needed to win now, make trades to win now, but wouldn't put up the kind of money required to win now.
  23. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ May 11, 2011 -> 09:28 AM) Drooling over nothing, the Cubs need more money if they want Pujols, or they plan to have him be the team and not surround him with much but live of his name for attendance. I think they could pull it off with a moderate ticket price increase, but it's the length of the contract I'm not sure they'd go for.
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 11, 2011 -> 09:12 AM) The Bulls are going to have some scoring issues, like they have in this series, because they aren't going to be able to put Korver on the floor at all. Other than that, they should match up pretty well. If the Bulls could somehow get Bogans to do waht he did in the first Q yesterday, that'd cover it.
  25. Any time you want to check I cann arrange it.
