  1. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ May 6, 2011 -> 08:53 PM) Have you seen AJ's deferred contract? 2012 is a payday. Pretty sure I've mentioned it 3 times today, just add in $2 million if he starts hitting normally at some point
  2. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ May 6, 2011 -> 08:41 PM) BS. The Twins are garbage. Hasnt stopped them before
  3. QUOTE (Lillian @ May 6, 2011 -> 08:46 PM) I think that you have to keep A. J. to handle the pitching staff. Changing in mid season would be very problematical Castro could handle the job cabably, but he isn't up to catching the bulk of the schedule. If the team doesn't recover by June and someone will take aj, you don't worry about that. Half those pitchers will be leaving too
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 6, 2011 -> 08:44 PM) With the way Wilson Betemit has gone the last 2 years, KW looks doubly stupid for discarding him for Teahen. Eventually he'll be replaced by Moustakas, but the guy has been raking and playing better D than we saw in his brief time with us. No one can honestly say they weren't thrilled when betemit was dumped. No one.
  5. If we get to game six I bet I'll go. I hope we can storm through these 2 games
  6. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ May 6, 2011 -> 08:39 PM) Why does Josh Smith shoot jump shots? Seriously I would tell him he isn't allowed to shoot outside of the paint. Because Atlantas coach isn't strong enough to tell guys no like Thibs or other real strong coaches
  7. Any chance the parents were arrested?
  8. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 6, 2011 -> 08:28 PM) Mark Gonzales @MDGonzales Mark Gonzales Since 2008, the reigning AL Cy Young Award winner is 2-2 with a 5.05 ERA vs. the Sox. The current sox roster has a .555 ops against him, hitting .217
  9. QUOTE (knightni @ May 6, 2011 -> 08:06 PM) Time to find a sucker to take Pena for a prospect. Might need him to do something notbad first
  10. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 6, 2011 -> 08:12 PM) And the counter-argument is that Danks would thrive pitching for an offense that actually supported him and gave him more confidence that he wouldn't have to be out there on eggshells worrying about giving up 1 or 2 runs. Maybe he'd be able to go that extra 1/3 of an inning to suddenly become a valuable pitcher if he had a decent lead
  11. QUOTE (DukeofChicago88 @ May 6, 2011 -> 07:04 PM) It's absolutely ridiculous that Dunn is back in the 3 spot. He's done nothing deserving to be put back there. Hasn't even barely come out of his slump if you ask me. Dunn should move back to 5 and Paulie in 3. Once again, our manager makes more glaringly bad decisions. Pk14 has suppOsedly never been comfortable in that spot, last time they put him there he went into a week long slump
  12. QUOTE (DukeofChicago88 @ May 6, 2011 -> 06:42 PM) How likely is it that we won't score more than say 3 runs? King Felix? Very
  13. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 6, 2011 -> 06:02 PM) You know what they say. Fool me once, shame on you. And you know the rest. This team ain't playin' me again. I want to see some DRASTIC improvements by June 1. Forget the break. We got Felix tonight. I have no choice but to assume that's a loss. So that's 11 games below .500. If in two weeks we're 15 or more games below .500 then it's time to punt the season. The furthest last year's team was under .500 was 9 games on June 8. I think that's a valid comparison point. Yeah, they get to 15 games below, then it's time to get the kicker warmed up.
  14. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 6, 2011 -> 05:55 PM) Getting to .500 by the break could be a bad thing. It would create an illusion that the team has a shot and KW will do something stupid. To me, this team has exactly one month to turn this s*** around. If there isn't considerable progress then moves HAVE to be made. Don't mess around and wait until the deadline. Everybody is fair game. Remember, we said the same thing last year, and supposedly KW was putting out feelers on trading people when the team suddenly started winning every game they played.
  15. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 6, 2011 -> 05:05 PM) I'd love to see documented proof of this. Link
  16. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 6, 2011 -> 04:43 PM) Yes. Teams are just going to flock at the opportunity to trade for a 35-year old, noodle-armed catcher sporting a sub-.600 OPS for the bargain rate of $4 million! Considering that teams were offering him more than that in the offseason...yeah.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 6, 2011 -> 03:59 PM) I hate Bud Selig and his "I don't have the power" bulls***. Really? You're going to pass on the chance to blame the union here?
  18. The House Republicans have established a solve-the-energy-crisis (aka start drilling more) task force. Nothing funny about it...except the acronym/name. House Energy Action Team. Yes, that's right, they called it "HEAT."
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 6, 2011 -> 04:38 PM) It depends on if you want to adjust for inflation or not. Clearly I don't.
  20. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 6, 2011 -> 04:01 PM) I'm actually not sure if the Gov can do it himself or not, probably depends on the state. But I'd also bet that Quinn was working with at least some members of the legislature as well, who would all like to see one of the state's premier employers stick around. It probably means that when the tax bill was passed, or when some other tax bill was passed, it gave the governor that power.
  21. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 6, 2011 -> 04:35 PM) I'd like to know the cost of the cold war. Bet it's more than all of those combined. Depends on how you draw the baseline. We've probably spent more money on defense in the last 10 years than we did during the whole Cold War.
  22. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ May 6, 2011 -> 04:16 PM) Haha, thanks, AJ! But still, it's going to make him very hard to move. So you pay the $2 million difference and he's a $4 million catcher next year for 1 year, which is what the Yankees were willing to give Martin. Teams with catching problems will be after that.
  23. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 6, 2011 -> 04:27 PM) This comment is marginal at best. Why?
  24. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ May 6, 2011 -> 04:19 PM) Sure they might try but I'd bet Kenny would call them out on that bulls*** argument and at the end of the day the other team's GM would relent. Sqwert's point about being a 6 inning pitcher is much more relevant though. That fact will definitely bring his value down. This year he's pitched 7 starts and has 47 innings. That's 6.2+ innings per start.
  25. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 6, 2011 -> 01:01 PM) And I would have been perfectly fine with AJ going away. AJ has been bad for a couple years now. Although I was ok with bringing him back, I've wanted an upgrade at catcher for a long time. Why would anyone think that Russell Martin was an upgrade last offseason?
