  1. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Feb 24, 2011 -> 12:07 PM) Yup, you're just asking for drunken accidents or something else incredibly stupid. Just think about the wonders that will occur if we put the Guns on campus laws in place in the same state as the guns allowed in bars laws.
  2. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Feb 24, 2011 -> 12:17 PM) Yeah seriously. Taj/Omer are really good players, but both have ceilings of solid starters. We already have Noah making Aski unlikely ever to start full-time. We have Boozer for the next few years making Taj unlikely ever to start full-time. Mayo was the THIRD pick in a loaded draft and has the ceiling of an All-Star. I have a hard time believing the Bulls wouldn't pull the trigger on that move. As long as you can hold onto one of them so you have a bench left to play against the Heat and Magic.
  3. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 24, 2011 -> 11:18 AM) Yep, more evidence that the entire system is s***. Obama, Bush...all the same. Wait, you agree that income inequality is a problem?
  4. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 24, 2011 -> 08:27 AM) And hope those picks win you a title in their first few seasons before they move on to greener pastures like LA, NY, MIA, CHI, etc. There's no way the NBA lets this state of affairs survive now. I said on the Decision night that it almost guaranteed a lockout, this deadline is just going to reinforce that. 2/3 of the NBA doesn't want to be the minor leagues for the other 1/3.
  5. QUOTE (Tex @ Feb 24, 2011 -> 06:23 AM) To stop mass killings on campuses like Virginia tech. To guns...the cause of and solution to all life's problems!
  6. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Feb 23, 2011 -> 05:02 PM) So does anybody know the details of the picks the Jazz received? Link
  7. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Feb 23, 2011 -> 04:43 PM) Sweet sassy molassey! It might have been the poor quality of the video, but I couldn't even see where that landed. Stark
  8. Ignore/mute the crappy hip-hop overtones, but it's at :30 in this video. Adam Dunn Monster Home Runs Part 1 Uploaded by jumsox. - Full seasons and entire episodes online.
  9. What exactly are emergency financial managers?
  10. Here's the 10 longest HR at Great American ballpark, listing Dunn at 535.
  11. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 23, 2011 -> 04:11 PM) 535? Holy s***. What's the longest ever hit in the majors, since decent measurements began? Can't be much more than that. 10 longest home runs in the electronic hit tracker era. Dunn is #1 at 504 feet.
  12. QUOTE (farmteam @ Feb 23, 2011 -> 04:09 PM) IU vs. Purdue tonight. We've been playing awful, which probably means IU will surprise me and win, and then suck the rest of the year. I could live with that.
  13. I like how the most recent post in both threads is complaining about violent political rhetoric.
  14. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Feb 23, 2011 -> 02:55 PM) I'm starting to seriously dislike Albert Pujols. Wait until he picks up a bat. That feeling will depart.
  15. QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 23, 2011 -> 02:45 PM) well it's clear that chico probably wouldn't have asked for much concessions on pensions. "Chicago Aldermen flee to Wisconsin..."
  16. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 23, 2011 -> 01:57 PM) I disagree. Well I mean, some people are. But honestly, I am convinced that Emmanuel was really the only candidate that had a reasonable chance to be effective in the job. Chico maybe, but not as much. The others, forget about it. The issue now with this election is...no one really has a clue what Emmanuel's politics regarding Chicago's fiscal issues are.
  17. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Feb 23, 2011 -> 01:47 PM) Perhaps he should have just shown up in a pimp outfit instead of calling. So, you're defending those Breitbart videos now?
  18. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Feb 23, 2011 -> 01:50 PM) One-party consent in general, or the false pretenses? I have no problem with one-party consent. If someone is calling me with threats or harassments, I'd want to be able to record that for evidence. I'd say both, and I'm sure that a one-party consent state with the laws written intelligently would make exceptions in the event of actual threats.
  19. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Feb 23, 2011 -> 01:48 PM) Hypothetical question: Could the White Sox trade AJ right now, or would they have to wait until a certain date since he officially became a free agent? I believe the team can not trade Free Agents signed to new contracts until June 1, and I'm pretty sure that applies to AJ as well even though he signed with his former team.

QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ Feb 23, 2011 -> 01:45 PM) Well, it would free up money to make an aggressive LT commitment to Danks, no? Buehrle could probably give then better production than almost any other option out there. Agree about no place to put him though... Honestly...no it wouldn't. I'd expect that trading Buehrle effectively takes us out of the running for the AL Central this year. Either it dramatically weakens our bullpen (by pulling Sale into the rotation) or it forces us to trade someone else to fill that hole. If the Sox don't win the Central this year, then they're going to be cutting back on salary anyway, so trading away Mark and not winning the Central would leave the team in the same boat relative to extending Danks.
  21. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Feb 23, 2011 -> 01:38 PM) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telephone_rec...fication_states Wisky is a one-party consent state. Come on, Watson! Thanks. Even with that, this still troubles me.
  22. Balta1701 replied to NCsoxfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Just in case you want reasons why...seriously, we have no place to play Rasmus, Mark Buehrle won't give them the kind of production they were getting from Wainright, they're not in a position where taking on $15 million this season would be a smart move, and the Sox would simply get worse if they sacrificed a starting pitcher.
  23. Balta1701 replied to NCsoxfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
    Yes.
  24. Yes, I would agree with that clause. However, I also would say that many countries have hired foreign mercenaries to supplement their own armed forces, particularly in the case of an open rebellion. As a general point...I want no part of an intervention in Libya. The idea that there are mercenaries there doesn't impact that opinion one bit.
  25. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 23, 2011 -> 01:04 PM) Does Poo-Holes have a no trade clause? Yes. He would have to waive the NTC. Which might mean that the team trading for him would have to agree to extend him, or that he'd have to now believe that the Cardinals weren't competing this year.
