  1. Syndergaard has gone 5-6 innings each start and has gotten up to 88 pitches so far in his last outing. Given up 4 runs so far, FIP is under 3 so he’s been solid. Luca$ needs to be ready to match him.
  2. Well someone let him pitch through back spasms bad enough that they knocked him out for almost a week. That's a newbie.
  3. Last season, 0 playoff teams had 8 game losing streaks.
  4. I’m not sure at all right now. This team being banged up, I expected. The manager giving away games inexplicably- totally planned for. The expensive bullpen not being as good as the price tag - totally expected. Guys who are reliable defenders seemingly not being in the game at all? The seeming lack of focus? The dramatic change in approaches at the plate - huge dropoff in patience - did not expect that. The way the White Sox have been maximally hurt by the new ball due to their type of contact - did not see that coming. There’s some stuff here that is way worse than expected. I don’t know what is going on with the behind the scenes part so I don’t know if that’s fixable, and I don’t know why their approach at the plate got worse or if their hitting coach can help them adapt to this baseball. Those things have to be improved before this is even a .500 team.
  5. I can’t say this enough. This team is not going to “get healthy”. They may well be healthier than this, but there will be injuries all year. Lynn will come back, but Kopech will hit an innings limit. One of Cease and Giolito will probably have another muscle injury. Pollock will get hurt again. Robert will probably have another muscle pull. Grandal will probably have some problems. Last year the white Sox were healthier than 75% of big league teams based on the number of days people spent on the IL, and we spent the whole year saying “but if they get healthy!” The lineup got guys back but Eloy never recovered, and when the lineup got guys back then 3 starting pitchers went down. Injuries are normal. They will not stop and they will not go away. One or two players healthy compared to now will not suddenly make this a 95 win team. A lot more needs to happen than that.
  6. This white Sox team with mostly the same players was 2nd in the AL and 4th in baseball in walks last year. They’re missing Moncada and they’ve swapped out backups, but this seems like a completely different approach more than personnel changes right?
  7. Here’s a player doing his job, what should we use him for? Discuss.
  8. So you're saying there are circumstances where the Abreu thread might actually discuss Abreu? Interesting.
  9. So this thread about Abreu has >1 page with 0 posts about Abreu.
  10. In the last decade, the White Sox have played Adam Dunn and Daniel Palka in the OF at times.
  11. No one has said the real answer yet, so the real answer is that it will be up to Abreu. Prior to the season he didn’t want to commit to an extension, which means he is likely going to give some serious thought to his career and if he wants to keep being hit by pitches at the end of the year. If he wants to come back, the White Sox will sign him, and the money will depend on how effective he is the rest of the year.
