  1. Are the Ump’s statistically worse this year or are we just seeing more blatant examples with all the tech and video?
  2. This makes a lot more sense to me than the existence of a random thread here dedicated to Kelenic.
  3. If somehow everyone is healthy (unlikely) them give Kopech an extra two weeks of rest in June.
  4. Stretch one of them out rather than burning multiple ones.
  5. I can’t dispute their logic that there needs to be room for the Reds to be vastly worse.
  6. Fwiw, unless you mean the territory they already control, I see no reason to think the Russians have the ability to make a substantial offensive advance any time soon. They have gained very little territory since throwing additional forces against the line, Ukrainian defensive lines have held. Furthermore, Ukraine’s strength is growing as volunteers have now gained nearly 3 months of training and western weapon systems are arriving en masse. Unless Russia goes for non-conventional weapons, the only step Russia can take is a general mobilization, where they try to substantially increase the amount of men they have to throw into the fight. On the other side, Ukraine may be able to threaten some supply lines, but whether they can possibly begin retaking territory will depend on a lot of things like the effectiveness of those western weapons and their availability. In particular, can they start knocking out Russian artillery units, or does it just bog down as a stalemate with roughly equal artillery?
  7. One other guy they dumped was Kelvin Herrera, but that was in the shorter 2020 so they ate less money.
  8. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/lucas-giolito-608337?stats=statcast-r-pitching-mlb Scroll down to the chart and you can check things by month or by game.
  9. However, every single year his April velocity has been lower than his May-July velocity. April 2019: 93.3 April 2021: 93.4 April 2022: 92.9 He's a half mph lower than previous Aprils, but comparing April to his full season numbers is not appropriate given his pattern. In 2021, Gio had a big first outing where his fastball averaged 95, then the next 3 games was 92.7, 92.9, 93. So far this year, his numbers are 93, 92.6, 93.1 - completely comparable to starts 2, 3, and 4 in 2021.
  10. Giolito will not be getting $20 million.
  11. Presumably, new ownership. Or he could retire again.
  12. Isn’t sacrificing future assets the opposite of retooling/rebuilding?
  13. I’m not really interested in defending Arlington or Fort Worth either.
  14. While it’s still obviously early, Joc + Rodon have been difference makers.
  15. For a guy with 1.5 years of control? Naw.
  16. While it might even be true that they just need to get healthy…what from their first 2 years running the Bulls suggests they’re not going to be aggressive?
  17. So presumably there were 27 outs today, 3 hits, so the white Sox were 3/30? Sigh.
  18. They also never once lost more than 4 in a row.
  19. What's actually ironic is that one guy Cueto has handled well in his career, to the tune of 1/12 - Mike Trout.
  20. Dude that just repeated exactly the tweet I shared.
  21. What’s actually ironic is that Statcast says Kopech has thrown his slider 14.3% so far this year and his curveball 16.8%. (His fastball usage is up from before in statcast because so far he hasn’t used a changeup).
