  1. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 1, 2010 -> 04:45 PM) I still think they might try it if Paulie comes back. With Morel already looking like he's ready defensively at 3b...I don't know where they'd work him in there. I really doubt they're going to want to try him out at 3b and just let him commit 40 errors while learning the position next year, they're not goign to demote Morel to AA to work Viciedo at 3b, I don't know how they could pull that off.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 1, 2010 -> 05:53 PM) Sure. The Daley's have been doing it for 50 years. Those certainly seem pretty loud to me.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 1, 2010 -> 05:16 PM) Quiet bribes would be the only way it would happen in Chicago. Really, Quiet ones?
  4. Best Knightni Lists?
  5. QUOTE (Tex @ Nov 1, 2010 -> 02:37 PM) Let's reverse, or not. Maybe you should start a new thread for that, rather than trying to confuse us.
  6. Go away lion.
  7. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 1, 2010 -> 01:36 PM) Genesis was sent into space with a Gauss gun? No, but it fell back to Earth pretty darn hard.
  8. QUOTE (HeGone33 @ Nov 1, 2010 -> 01:14 PM) I'm not saying he is the most improved, however based on the expectations for Noah and Rose and their ceilings, I personally am quite impressed with how much Taj seems to have improved....although most imrpovement I'd probably have to give to Rose at this point, primarily due to his agressiveness and leadership he has displayed. I haven't seen much more than the Thunder game...but it sure seemed like Rose's passing had taken a step upwards in that game. Gibson and Noah got some excellent looks when the defense collapsed on Rose in the lane.
  9. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 1, 2010 -> 01:12 PM) Blowing chunks is how I'd react to seeing those. Can we test to make sure? Does it matter what you eat beforehand?
  10. QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Nov 1, 2010 -> 01:09 PM) Anyone think Escobar can develop into our version of Starlin Castro? In the major leagues by age 20? I think he's going to have to do some growing younger first.
  11. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 1, 2010 -> 12:44 PM) Delicate satellites and scientific instruments, not to mention people, couldn't handle those accelerations. And yet, we're managing to pull data from the Genesis mission.
  12. Although, the lawyers might make a chunk.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 1, 2010 -> 10:16 AM) What was acceptable for a SS was much different until Cal Ripken started to change that. At least in the AL, the era of the big run producing SS has seemingly come to a grinding halt the last few years. The AL put up on average a .666 OPS out of the SS position last year. In 2000, AL shortstops averaged a .768 OPS.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 1, 2010 -> 10:18 AM) That would be nice if I had made anything near what he did in his life. You can make very similar photographs, all you need is a cell phone.
  15. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 1, 2010 -> 09:59 AM) His future depends on what happens in the offseason with Paulie and/or whatever big bat the team acquires. It would be ideal to have him stay in AAA a bit longer, but if DH or 1B are a massive hole in March, then he needs to get the job. My real worry is illustrated well by this thread...we've heard repeatedly "He's a butcher on defense, we ought to trade him because of that". Reality is...yes, he's a butcher on defense, but he's also a 21 year old who's been bouncing around between 2 positions. You stick him at a position permanently and let him develop there (living with the growing pains) and we'll probably stop hearing that complaint. If he starts the season off as the big league DH, he's likely to never leave the DH role.
  16. QUOTE (zenryan @ Nov 1, 2010 -> 09:43 AM) Getting fired sure beats the alternative. But honestly...that's not the kind of thing you think of in advance.
  17. So it's ok to call you this site's version of Brett Favre?
  18. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 1, 2010 -> 08:40 AM) Speaking of which... I missed the first hour or so of the rally... why was there a random sousaphone on stage anyway? I'm going to guess that the answer to this question is "The Roots".
  19. The USA today
  20. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 1, 2010 -> 12:21 AM) I'm pretty tired of Favre in general and I think he's stayed in the league about 1 year too long, but it is still pretty incredible that he went out there today and I'm sure will go out there next week too. I'm not sure that there would be any other QBs doing that. The problem is though...there's a reason other QB's probably wouldn't be doing that...because they're smart enough to know that if they're only at 75% they're hurting their team.
  21. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 31, 2010 -> 11:56 PM) I find that ridiculous. It's completely blaming the victim, and not only are you asking him to stand up to his employer, but a employer of celebrity status in one of the most hyper-masculine contexts we can imagine. And you know, probably would get fired as well.
  22. Stat of the day: The Giants have scored 26 runs in the World Series. The Rangers have 26 hits in the World Series.
  23. QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 1, 2010 -> 12:10 AM) Those lousy NL teams are really playing bad in yet another WS. You continue to pretend this means something.
  24. Quit bragging, you're no longer winning the coveted posts per day title.
  25. Off thread topic, but did anyone catch Ozzie Guillen casually defending his use of Mark Kotsay (by name) during the pre-game of last night's WS Game 3?
