  1. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 10:12 PM) nice to see liney coming in and throwing strikes Ozzie ought to find a way to throw Jenks for 2 innings today.
  2. How is DJ Carrasco doing this year anyway?
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 10:09 PM) Watching this team play games at home, as opposed to on the road, is like night and day. And yet, we're above .500 on the road, and coming into today, teh Twins had the exact same road record (and home record) as the Sox.
  4. This level of offensive production would have swept the Orioles.
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 10:06 PM) Pena's done a good job as an innings eater out of the pen this year in a role he was never, ever supposed to have. There's a big difference between being a good pitcher, and doing a good job in your designated role. Of course, part of the reason why he wound up in that role is that he wasn't all that great at the short relief role.
  6. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 09:08 PM) That is just stunning - he was in a plane crash 30 years ago, lost his wife, he survives, and then 30 years later dies in another plane crash. That is incredibly sad. What this really provides (politics aside) is an insight into Alaska. There's no road between the capitol city and the largest city. You have to fly. Going from the capitol city to the oil fields or cities on the North Slope is like going from Texas to Maine. Then you're flying dozens of times per year between your constituents in AK and the vote in DC. And then you're contending with Alaskan weather.
  7. QUOTE (G&T @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 09:57 PM) So you don't just push "Upgrade" and it just happens? Typically it takes like 3-4 days of server compiling/outage time.
  8. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 09:16 PM) With a starting line-up like that I'm not even ready to concede the east to the Heat. Yeah, the Celtics have the 2003-2004 season wrapped up. I mean, why would the Heat want to load up their roster with rookies like that!
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 09:50 PM) And we could have used Hudson to get a big time bat or had him lurking in case Garcia got in trouble. Or we could have signed Thome and just kept Hudson in AAA all year or used him right now to give Garcia a break. And there's the added benefit of he wouldn't have homered off of Garcia. Sigh.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 09:49 PM) The good news is that Garcia will not get to face the Twins next week. I really hate how we had our worst pitcher going in the first game of the series, but just like everything else, Ozzie's the one in the spotlight now. I'm happy to hear a lot of people in the media starting to ask questions about his lineup decisions and style of play. Like any of that will make a difference. Look he dropped Quentin and he responded!
  11. QUOTE (PlunketChris @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 06:06 PM) Must. Win. Series. I'd rather them lose tonight then take the series, compared to them winning tonight and losing the next 2. Win. All. 3.
  12. QUOTE (Chisoxfaninminny @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 04:59 PM) whats the feeling from the chicago perspective. Most twins fans are predicting twins win at least 2 outta 3. They arent throwing out great pitchers, what is the chicago take on the 3 games The Sox have D1 and G on the mound for Games 2 and 3. D1 has been great occasionally against the Twins but struggled more often. Garcia has been steady as a rock. This is a good matchup of 2 solid teams...only 1 of which has been hot with the bats of late though. The Sox bats need to pick it up at home...they do that and they've got a shot.
  13. Probably ought to post this somewhere.
  14. Sean O'Keefe reportedly survived the crash, along with his son.
  15. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 04:29 PM) So Carlos Quentin hits a bad stretch and he gets dropped to 7th. Kotsay's sucked all year and he still bats 6th regularly. I think it's fair to say that Kotsay must be letting Ozzie do naughty things with his wife. Kotsay's fragile emotional state can't take being demoted. He might do something like break his wrist on the bat, for crying out loud.
  16. QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 04:05 PM) I thought there was already a law like this in the U.S.? Nope. (That would be a clearly unconstitutional and socialist interference with the rights of businesses to do whatever the Heck they want).
  17. Also, Europe is soon going to have a universal charging system where a single charger design will work for virtually every cell phone for sale on the Continent. Because U.S. regulators have no interest in regulating, however, the U.S. does not look to get this benefit at any point in the near future.
  18. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 03:51 PM) Since when does Comcast block bit-torrent? I get on there all the time. They "slowed" it for a time, supposedly they've stopped.
  19. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 03:40 PM) Classify it as telecommunications and regulate like it should be. End of story. But that will cost the big guys money. Can't have that.
  20. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 03:11 PM) Yeah and I get that, but having him catch the one game in the series we face a RHP doesn't make a lot of sense. I bet AJ faces both LHP now, or at least one, and he shouldn't face either. Kotsay hitting ahead of Alexei is bizarre as well, but the logic/Kotsay ship has long since sailed. Not much Ozzie can really do with this lineup though with the way it's hitting ATM, to be fair. The scary thing? Castro has an .862 OPS against righties this season, which is also vastly better than AJ. (it's 1.209 against lefties).
  21. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 03:09 PM) That'd be the end of their f***ing league. Yup. I'd rather cheer for Miami than watch a league that did that.
  22. So, on a different subject, Google and Verizon appear to have come to an agreement that, if accepted by regulators, would effectively end the "net neutrality" situation that we currently have.
  23. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 03:00 PM) Because they havent played it yet, and I plan on hitting all three of them with a Volkswagen. If you took out a collection, you could probably get NBA fans to pay for the car. And a big chunk of your legal fees. And for it to be a Hummer rather than a VW.
  24. CNN is reporting that rescue officials have confirmed that former Senator Stevens was killed in the crash.
