I dunno how desperate the Mets are to unload him...they're not exactly poor for cash right now, and I have zero urge to give up legit talent on a guy like him with that contract. He'd clearly get through waivers unclaimed, so a move for him could be possible. He's been terrible since coming back this year, so if we're playing for this year, that isn't going to get me going much. He also has a full NTC, which always makes things more difficult. The NYT reported that the Mets would be loathe to send along much in salary to get rid of him; doesn't mean they wouldn't take back a bad contract or two, but still that's a ton of money he's owed for next year.

I'm focusing on what Jackson is throwing up there right now. The raw stuff is there, and his fastball control has been better than I expected, but based on his first 2 starts...I'd say he threw about 7 great innings (last 4 innings of game 1, first 3 of game 2) and bookended those with 2 sets of 3 average to below average innings that he had to get through on guile.

I may as well also note that I have zero problems with AJ Pierzynski bunting in the 9th inning even though he had a more favorable matchup. Quentin was on 1st, he wasn't stealing 2nd, AJ has been awful this year with the bats, and people behind him would be more likely to drive in a run with 1 hit than we would be to get a hit out of AJ.
